Debrincat-Larkin-Raymond is such a great top line, and I do think it'll be that to start with, BUT Raymond proved to everybody last season that he can drive his own line. Imagine him driving a second line with Compher and Tarasenko. Rayzor's good enough to run wild with it and feast on the lesser competition.
Like how you analyzed this. Have a feeling that Kane will be better off with a RH shooter (DeBrincat) as Kane predominantly operates on the right side ozone. Tarasenko is a speedster who I think makes a great fit with the dynamic and speedy Larkin and Raymond.
I could honestly see us waiving hull and huso depending on camp, those are 2 contracts I don't see being picked up and also see those as the weak links at their position group
almost have no choice but to waive holl. he's too expensive to get rid of and to underperforming to keep. i have mixed feelings about matta but either way i think he could be moved without waiving him.
Slide Ras to 3C with Motte and Fischer, move Copp to 4RW with JV and Berggren Motte needs to be on a shut down line, and Copp adds some grit and puck protection to the 4th scoring line
Yeah that would be great... Just feel like they won't do it because Copp's contract is worth like 5mil a year for the next three years.. so they probably want him playing more to try and "sell" him for a trade.
I think theres a real chance that Tarasenko, Kane, and Raymond all stay RW. And one of them plays on line 3. Either Copp, Ras, or Berggren playing LW in the top 6. At least for part of the season
I agree. Cat - Larks - Raymond Berg - comph - Kane Ras - Copp - Tarasenko Motte - Veleno - Fish That’s 4 very solid lines. Berggren playing well, learning, and showing chemistry with Kane could completely change this season.
You guys knew going in that you would feel weird about something, and there was a clear way out. I don't know why there's so little faith in Berggren when his abilities as a hockey player have not diminished at all. Yzerman signed too many guys at the beginning of last season, and because Berggren didn't look like Gretzky in the preseason, they figured it was better for him to be in GR. Same reason they sent him back at the end of the season with 1 game left before he was no longer waiver exempt. The Wings were struggling, the Griffins were about to start the playoffs. Berggren wasn't doing anything wrong, he's just been the victim of roster management. But he has top 6 offensive skills and we need to stop acting like he utterly hopeless when it comes to defense. I think he's much better off with someone like Kane to play off of. Tarasenko and Rasmussen are two big puck hogs. I like the idea of giving that third line a real scoring threat. And the defense, again...why so little faith in Albert Johansson? He played on the right side with Edvinsson in GR. He was apparently pretty good, from how everyone talks about him. Just do the same thing in the NHL. Chiarot - Seider, Edvinsson - Johansson, and Maatta, Gustaffson, and Petry for the bottom pair. You can move things around as the season goes on if guys are struggling, but if we're talking the lines you WANT to see, you don't have to put Petry on the second pair just because you don't know enough about Johansson.
Not sure if the only defensive line works. Eventually, the wheels fall off if you are only in the D zone, especially given our D issues. I think the time spent away from our D zone counts just as much. Would prefer hybrid line mentality eventually where you have a bit more offense mixed in there too. Not sure the being a punching bag to absorb offense works given the calls favoring offense. Elite players really expose these type of lines eventually. Maybe Mott going to third line would bump up the D capabilities. Rasmussen V and Burgers might be more of that hybrid model. I like Veleno and hope he can keep a place. Maybe Copp excels and can get traded w/ retained salary and Veleno gets bumped up. I don’t think a Kasper Ras and Burgers line would be a banishment while Kasper gets up to speed. There would be some skill there to not be one dimensional and be facing lesser competition.
My take on the top 6 is Larkin and Raymond locked in on 1st with JT as 2C and Senko, Show and Cat playing musical chairs to fill out the wings until they find a groove. Possible surprise from a young guy later on.
I think Danielson stays down one more year. There just isnt really a center spot open unless for some reason Stevie doesnt resign Veleno. Besides, with Berggren likely being on the roster next season, the Griffins need a guy to help drive them toward a Calder Cup✊
Looks good for now, but still some weakness on D barring a trade. I could see either Danielson or Kasper potentially making the team and Berggren in a trade package for some immediate D help on the 2nd pairing.

Cat-Larks-Ray Bergren-Compher-Kane Ras-Copp-Tarasenko Motte-Veleno-Fischer Tarasenko into top 6 if Johhny can't cut it, Veleno/Copp interchangeable Carter, Marco, Soderblom ready to go if needed. Or find a package that works and trade for a 2C until Nate is ready to take over if Compher isnt on the level. Pretty much same on D. Gus-Mo Simon-Chiarot Whoever is on for At the moment for third pairing between Wallinder, Maata, Holl and Petry. If a reasonable trade could be made for a top4 RD, so much better. Goalies? Lyon/Talbot/Husso, go with whoever is hot on a given streak. Or rotate them if it keeps them motivated 🤷♂️
Raymond-larkin-kane would be my ideal 1st line, but i dont like the idea of both debrincat and tarasenko together. I also believe Danielson demands a job in camp, which adds a whole new wrinkle in the line combo projections. Could swap berggren and ras to get a 3rd scoring line and a true shutdown line.
The Wings need a legit 2nd line center, or let Danielson play there. Compher and Copp slot in at the bottom 6 nicely. Copp a 5.6 million dollar 4th line center 😂
Ras will be better, his knee should be ready for full contact. Veleno should be gone by Nov, he has hit his peak. At least 3 kids should get good time from injuries up from GR. Otherwise line up looks good, but Sens have got better this year, as have teams ahead of us.
He was stellar in GR, the few chances he had on the wings last year he didn't get much done but I don't think he was giving enough time to get comfortable with the team. I don't want johny berger going anywhere I hope he turns out great.
call me crazy i take Joe V for 2nd line center. people forget he's still developing and peg him as a 4th liner. he has a lot of ceiling left and he can move like the wind, hes a checker and he can play a top 6 role. i like compher and copp but theyve reached their ceiling and neither is a top sixer in the here and now. Compher scores a goal for every 19:23 of ice time on a line with top 6 wingers. Veleno scores a goal every 13:21 of ice time on a line with bottom 3 wingers. and he does it for about 20% of the money. How are we coming up with compher as a 2nd line center?
Campbell is going ahl. Husso will be traded if another move is coming. Mainly because of cap. It will likely be Lyon and Talbot. Even if Husso lingers it will be third option
Bergs and Veleno do not have contacts, I don’t believe they will have contacts on opening night. Danielson and Kasper will be on the third line with Copp.
I wouldn't be opposed to letting joey v walk . I wouldnt be thrilled to see burger go but i won't be heartbroken either . Id be stoked to see Nate on the opening roster
Here's the deal - it's dead weight. 1 or 2 of these players need to be gone come Oct. Petry, Copp, Holl, Veleno and maybe Bergren. Yzerman needs to get a pick for one of these guys or trade berg and a pick for another performing winger. Too much dead weight.
Copp has NOT earned that spot as the second line center,,, These line ups need HELP ! Wing fan having seen my first live game in 1958 with my dad when just a kid !!!
Wouldn't be shocked if you never see Motte wear a jersey. Big place holder signing if a younger guy isn't ready imo. Bergy has about 10-15 games to prove his worth otherwise he is expendable to the league and a Mazur/Kasper will get the shot. Kasper is only on the roster if Veleno leaves imo. Which sucks but reality. D pairs I'd like to see Gus/Mo, Chariot/Simon, Maatta/Petry ... I don't think you guys are giving Gus enough credit. I agree w/top 6. But I would not be opposed too 23/71/Tara ... 93/37/88 Starter: Lyon, Backup Talbot (But run them 1a/1b kinda thing like how Boston did it past 2 years. Also for next episode what number is Tarasenko going to wear? Worn 91 his entire life on every professional team... 91/19/9 aren't options.
