It's basically due to lack of competition: Back then there was Winners Circle, Team Caliber, Hot Wheels, Racing Champions etc. Now that many of these companies left and Lionel bought out all their remaining completion, they can make their cars as expensive and crappy as they want because there's no other option. It's them or nothing. And even if another company wants to try to make cars, Lionel has the licenses and the money to easily force them out of production.

Matchbox too in the early 90's, compare them to Racing Champions, the contingencies were wrong but the printed graphics are so much better.

Greetings from Indonesia🇮🇩 I'm a Fan NASCAR and also Collect NASCAR Diecast, even though not to Much.... One of them is 1/24 Scale Bill Elliott 11 1992 Ford Thunderbird But when I saw You Collection NASCAR in this Video/Channel, is Awesome 👏

Just about all the 1/24th diecast that I have are from 2007 to 2015 and the quality was great in those cars, it is a shame the quality went down in the late 2010’s

I've seen many videos like this. I agree with almost all the comments. It was awesome having choices: HW, winners circle, racing champions. Sure, some 1 64 scale cars looked crappy in the early years, but as the sport got bigger, the 1 64's got cleaner, and more detailed. I've said this a million times, and I'll keep saying this. Let's start making diecast here in the USA. I don't mind paying a bit more, as long as it is not outraged. An American pastime, that one as a fan can collect a memory of, come from CHiNA?!?!?!...C'mon, Nascar, Lionel, stop being so money hungry. Thanks...

Remember how detailed Elites were in the early 2000’s? Revell Collection? The old Elites were on par with 1/24 scale. They have mesh nets in the window, the engine had detail, the trunk opened, for 1/64 scale! Now we have this garbage.
@6605jeremy
@6605jeremy 2 года назад
if you like detail, get yourself a 2006 team caliber owners series... then compare that to the elites...id like to know where that detail went, action bought them out and got rid of it, because it blew the competition away!!

I loved the packaging design Team Caliber had too. They probably did the best interior and tethering. Action had them beat by a little in exterior but not by much

I used to work for Motorsports Authenics in Concord, NC. They actually bought out Action, Calibur (Roush Racing), and one other company of which I do not remember. Dale Sr. started the whole thing with Action. Team Calibur made only Roush racing products and I want to say Revell but not sure. Action, Calibur and whomever was bought out and become Fanatics and was still manufactured in China. Its kind of a long story but the company had went so far into debt that Lionel bought out the Die Cast portion of Fanatics beings they shared a warehouse there on Performance Drive. Fanatics would move back to Florida I believe. And would sell everything except die-cast. Lionel probably went to a cheaper manufacturer and the quality went down. There used to be the Wal-mart, K-Mart, Target quality diecast. Then there was Action (originally owned by Dale Sr.) Revell, I believe it was, and Calibur. Those were the three big ones. Not a suprise that the quality has dropped. There used to be an Elite Die-cast also. I worked in that dept. They looked really good. Drivers would come to Motorsports Authenics to autograph their cars for selling of twenty dollars more than just the standard die-cast. But Im sure the quality has dropped, no doubt

I Think part of it is that with the sports decline on fans☹️ and retail stores not stocking them as much Manufactures want to sell the products so matchbox and others get out of it because they sell more passenger cars than nascar cars

Damn... I have a 2005 ARC Kasey Kahne Mt. Dew diecast that has a detailed engine, roof flaps open, and a detailed trunk opening, and I literally saw a 2023 ARC with Mattel quality engine detail, no trunk, and broken roof flaps, and a plastic bottom with little to no detail.

What I like about the whole deal. Is when you buy a NASCAR diecast piece today. Keep your fingers crossed that it's not stripped out. I just sent out Jeff Gordon Penn State car back. Brand new car can't get it out of the styrofoam. Stripped out. From the manufacturer. Just Junk is what they're building now.

I got 1200 1/64 scale diecast cars in box my parents would buy me and I would save and leave in boxes. Most of my cars are from 80s-2009 and quality was excellent till 2010. All my 1/24 cars are elite got 700 of those and they look amazing from 92-2006. All my stuff is in their original boxes never opened and I also got five Dale seniors diecast which has the victory Lane for the Daytona 500 where he won his first one finally I got that in 164 scale with all the pit crew members given him a high five and a thumbs up and I got it in 124 scale as well. All of them are worth from $200 to $3,000 right now for the ones I got because they're in the original packaging in the packaging is pristine and thanks for showing me that Dale Jr elite at the exact same one and I didn't know what it looks like on the inside or the under the hood or trunk because it's still in their packaging and it's not displaying the packaging with the hood open so thanks for showing me that too and I have tons of winners circle brands to all in boxes and original cases

Isn't worth it anymore. Mid and Late 2000s Actions were and still are the best. Team Caliber Owner Series a close 2nd. Lionel ill admit did fine til like 4 years ago but wasn't as good as those other 2. University of Racing which made classic car schemes is my favorite though

So with regard to the 1/64's. I don't for the life of me understand why anyone would even buy them in the 1st place. I can see buying em for your kid or something but they're only $8 or $9 bucks and intended for use by kids 3 years old and up (even says so on the box). How much detail and precision are you seriously expecting from a 8 dollar toy? Frankly I would be embarrassed as a grown man to buy these and put it on social media. 1/24's particularly Elites are where it's at, they are designed to be "adult collectible"
@iowaracingcontent835

Currently I buy 1/64 scale because I’m 17 with no money. I have a large collection of them and they sit on my shelves in displays. If I could afford the 1/24s I would buy all of em. But I have other hobbies like pc gaming, soon going to Nascar Technical Institute, and all on top of that I’m still in highschool.
