Highly interesting I may say from personal experience my synagogue flipped through rabbis after the death of primary and so I just stopped going.

Did you say some Jews don't want to go to Synagogue every weekend?? We used to call it Shabbos

Covid taught me that my sons, nephew, a few close friends, and a Torah are all you need. Teach your kids how to lein Torah and lead davening. Jews don't need a Rabbi at all.
