I'm 37 and have worked hospitality my whole life and wore makeup on a daily basis. Had 2 burnouts. 6 years ago, I moved from finland to New zealand and started working outside at a vineyard. No makeup needed. It took a long time for me to be comfortable in my own skin. Now I prefer minimal makeup. I think we are living very important era in our lives where we learn many lessons and one of them is self respect and value, standards and importance to happiness. Been with you on this journey for a few years and I appreciate that I didn't have to do it alone. Thank you Lydia. ❤
I love Lydia's channel, there is so much to learn and appreciate, if I want to learn about current affairs, there are other thousands of channels on different platforms for that. Stay the way you are Lydia, we come here for peace of mind, escapism, learning and appreciation.
Yes!....indeed to the comments about why we come to Lydia's channel! For beauty, fashion, home updates, sausage doggies, and last but not least....Ali!!❤😂❤
My mum used to do make up professionally and when I started showing an interest in make up she taught me that makeup should only ever enhance what we have, not cover it up. It has always stuck with me. A light touch and a good skincare routine is all that is needed.
This is so true. I love this! A few years ago I tried the full face makeup going all out lol. But, it just wasn’t me. I had to realize that I actually prefer less makeup.
Thank you Mrs Millen Gordon. As I watch every one of your vlogs, it causes me to live a well examined life. I reassess the way I think and the way I do things. I am no longer a young woman but an evolving woman. I am forever grateful. 💕💕💕
Seeing the drop cloth finally on the wall is so satisfying!! Looks gorgeous! And I love the idea of making the staircase a stain instead of paint. Fingers crossed it was made with stain grade wood instead of paint grade wood. ❤
Hi Lydia , I got Alitex to install two roller blinds on the back and side of my greenhouse.Yes it’s an investment, but what a difference worth every penny .It means I can go into the greenhouse when it’s hot and also my plants don’t suffer .The other thing I like about the blinds you can see through them , so they don’t impact your view of the garden . They live on the outside of the greenhouse and are easy to roll up and down .They are aesthetically pleasing to the eye , which is a big thing for me .I have had them 3 years now , easy to keep clean you brush them down , or get the Alitex cleaning service to clean them .They also don’t make the greenhouse dark , so I would imagine it would help with filming . Hope this helps xx
About the make up issue: I feel the same way. My face was covered in make during my twenties and now in my forties I only put make up on for a special occasion. Being comfortable without make up is freedom! Its a wonderful feeling 🌼
Home is looking amazing 🥰 loved today's vlog. Hope had a lovely holiday. Guys need to remember lydia just a women going through life like us. She doesn't owe anyone anything! 💕
I admire your style, taste, and design. You have such a unique and inspiring approach, and it's something I genuinely aspire to emulate. I’ve noticed that you sometimes downplay your sense of style by saying things like, “I’m not trying to be bougie.” But honestly, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with embracing and celebrating your sophisticated tastes. You have an incredible sense of elegance and creativity, and it’s part of what makes you so amazing! Please continue to embrace who you are and who you're becoming. Your authenticity and confidence are what draw so many of us to you. Keep shining and showing off that fabulous side of yourself!😊
The part where you’re talking about how you like your face with no makeup more now - I totally know what you mean! Years ago I had a dreadful 12 months where my skin was super reactive to anything I put on it, and when it finally calmed down and I could wear makeup again, I realised I had inadvertently just got used to seeing my natural face, so much so that now I don’t actually like how I look with a full face!
Lighting the foyer of the basement... Can you put a beautiful pendant over the round table and/or some wall lights? The recessed lights are great for lighting up the space but not for creating ambience. Would be lovely to have a gorgeous pendant over the table with candles and some soft wall lights for your New Year's Eve parties!
Lydia there are so many things I love about your Vlogs but mostly is your fashion style . I hope you are inspiring others to be more ladylike as you inspire me to be. Hugs
More ladylike?? I mean no harm. But in what ways do you see her being more ladylike. Like wearing aprons or gardening, the way she speaks or dresses. Or takes care of the house or run a bhsiness
@@shanlon3213 Well as Lydia would agree I’m sure, the way she dresses and her style now is much more ladylike than years ago. Which most of us do change our style as years go by. Not so much trendy and hot girl summer ;).
Lydia,I love watching your videos❤ You inspire me to raise my standards even higher and not be offended by other people’s opinions. Your growth has been impeccable. May God keep blessing you ❤
Lydia I've always thought you look so much younger and nicer with less or no makeup... You look so beautiful naturally beautiful... Love love love your videos /blogs ❤
So happy to hear you’re getting used to less makeup! Been thinking for ages you look great with or without it! Also I’m 33 and have pared back daily makeup to some under eye and blush and it not only saves time but my skin tends to do and feel better!
Wow, I totally get it! Life really does change a lot in your 30s. It's like you start to see things differently, ya know? And Lydia's style is just *chef's kiss*! 🌟 Also, love that she's promoting LilySilk! Quality matters for sure! 🛍️✨
Coming back to Lydia’s RU-vid after years of watching other influencers and realise how wonderful she is. Where have I been!! Bored of seeing other influencers constantly selling and wearing the same outfits. Love her home and lifestyle.
I am 53, about to turn 54. For about 10 years now, I have only been using a BB cream or tinted moisturizer or just concealer for redness with a good spf. Skincare has always been so important as we are all aging, certainly more than heavy makeup. Embrace your beautiful skin it looks amazing! I also have long, thick hair and have been going through my own hair journey.. rehab sounds amazing! I will definitely try this out.
Yes! I definitely went through a journey with my skin. I appreciate my skincare routine so much. Even if it’s as little as a good cleanser, mask and moisturizer.
I've been getting ready to leave to drive for a week with my parents up north and I had just thrown on some tracksuit bottoms and a vest top... but after having your video on while I've been packing up... you've inspired me to get changed and pop on a nice linen shirt with some tailored shorts (cable knit around the shoulders in case it's chilly, obbbviously!) I'm still comfy but I instantly feel better and more put together #BeMoreLydia 👗🪴🌸
I love your blogs Lydia! Thank you so much for re-introducing the Rehab hairbrush. I really want to get it, sounds great and exactly what I need. Thanks again, I love your style and the house is so great. Congratulations on the remodeling downstairs. It’s really beautiful and so cool all of what you guys are doing! 🕊❤️🥂
I am 37, almost 38, and a few years ago during Covid I decided to throw out all of my makeup. I only have an eyebrow pencil, but you have inspired me to try clear mascara. I have embraced more skincare products and want to let the expense of that come through on my face than covering it up with makeup.
I love your vlogs. The basement is coming along greet. I'm in Canada, I have never seen a brick floor before inside a home. Usually see it outside.Trully insipiring me to get my home in place where I love it and I am happy in it. I am working towards that happy point as well.
Lydia I have been watching your videos for a while and I am so happy I found you in RU-vid. About the skin, you are not the only one. I am in my 40s and it does help to wear less make up, plus you have beautiful skin.
The LS products look beautiful although I haven’t taken the plunge and purchased a piece yet. Your summer white dress is gorgeous and your reduction suits not only your body but the dress. You look amazing and natural as you swan around the garden and home. Thank you for the LS code.
Thank you for your videos, Lydia. I've tried to emulate the bits of your style that I can afford and I've translated your expensive items to ones that are more affordable for me to try to look my best. I type this as I'm wearing a t-shirt and bicycle shorts as my work-at-home outfit today. It's not easy to dress up just to sit in front of a computer all day and see no one but my husband, but I'm trying to be better. I manage to put on makeup everyday though to make myself feel pretty. Any ideas to motivate me to dress better at home?
Aim for something that you feel comfortable in that you feel lovely in. Thats the best thing I find. I wear high waisted loose linen cropped trousers and a loose linen shirt in summer, it makes me feel very Grace Kelly but not over dressed. x
Haha, I’ve never related to a moment of searching for a word or term more than when you were looking for “toiletry bag” whilst packing! That is something I do often and the spaz hands help to find the term much quicker… it’s been proven! Ha! I adore you. It’s always such a wholesome, relaxing moment of my week to watch your latest video. Thank you for sharing some of your life with us and the authenticity that always shines through from your videos. Sending my love from South Carolina in the States!
Just love your videos Lydia and now look forward to them every week. I grab a coffee and it’s a bit of me time whilst I enjoy all the loveliness. Well done on being at the top of your game at what you do and creating a life you love. Inspiring.
Ever since I learned of the By Terry CC serum from you like 8 years ago I never wear foundation, only that!! And if I have a tan, no CC serum either. It is very freeing to just powder your nose and go!
Love a cardigan 🧡 don’t forget if you want to wear a cardigan over shoulders you can always add a collar clip - beautiful and practical… to stop it slipping 😊
Lovely vlog and the downstairs is gorgeous so far. I had to stop the video during when you were having your nails done and Shazam the stunning music. Oh my word, it is one of the most beautiful pieces I have heard. For ref Aurora Christoffer Moe Ditlevsen & Karollina Gabel ❤ Love love love x
Girl...make your own oil blends. I make the exact same thing for my hair treatment oil. Only, I don't pay an absolute fortune and am able to make loads of different products with thr ingredients. I stopped using all store bought face and body lotions. They can be very bad for your hormones. Look into it. I also make my own laundry detergent using Kirk's Castille soap. Better than anything I've ever purchased. I use that same soap to wash my face, body, and hair. Also, for my son. It's fun to do, is much safer for you, and saves loads of money.
I think the games room is going to be stunning .!!! I love interior design . And you have made your house amazing . The bannisters would look lovely stripped back to complement, the color that is on your walls . Great job from your builders Ken & his son . Wonderful flog here . I love all your flogs . Well done sweet pea .!!! Xx
I loved The Salt Path. It made me want to leave everything behind and walk until I couldn’t walk anymore. There is a second (I read and enjoyed) and (I think) third book. I hope you enjoy it also. I started The Authenticity Project 2 days ago and it is lovely also. Then I will start You are Here by David Nicholls. Lovely video. I hope you enjoyed your trip. ❤❤
I lovvve that you mention Tala as an industry disrupter. I am OBSESSED with their Day Flex and definitely was up early for their launch today! Would love to see if you have any of their pieces and what you think. As always, loved the vlog!
The topic of not wearing a full face of makeup - I'm onboard. Personally when I see women wearing that much makeup is all I see and in most cases the makeup is wearing them instead of the other way around. Much like yourself, just a small amount of good concealer under the eye and some bronzer lightly dusted is more than enough that keeps my skin still looking like skin while still getting a natural glow.☺
The Lily Silk blazer and slacks are perfect, even for someone who has a super casual lifestyle. Especially, for California. That would be a wardrobe staple. Ok, now I’m watching the rest of the video. 😁
My skin was clear from 20 until my early 30’s, I started getting a bit of adult acne. In 59:04 my mid 30’s, my skin was clear again. I was told to do the least, and it would clear. It was true. Good for you, taking a real break!
I love it all , the updates are lovely like your book , may be you can do more of each chapter you have so many ideas in each season that you can splash in each one . lovely days inspired me to have more joy , thanks
The basement looks so luxurious looking forward to seeing it all done❤your skin is flawless with out makeup believe you me ! And yes when I was younger I wouldn’t leave the house with full face make up (with good reason my skin having blemishes and fair skin ) I am a bit older than you and I don’t care as much now as I have a great skin routine and it’s looking better than my twenties , but I can’t live without the under eye brightening make up other wise my dark circles show 😊x
Hi Lydia, I adore your vlogs but I have to tell you that I can't watch you without a notepad and pen. Or a laptop on which I can browse the things you are talking about. For example this week I checked out The Salt Path and it looks right up my street. Also I have to tell you that when I was about 36 I too stopped wearing so much makeup. In my late teens/early twenties, I wouldn't put the bins out without a full face of makeup! Nowadays I'm much more relaxed about it; I mean who wants to go out in the summer heat with makeup melting down their face??? These days, much like you, it's lip balm (I have them everywhere!) mascara and maybe a little concealer. Keep being you Lydia - don't change for anyone. Lots of love x
We love that you are normalising 30s, sometimes people assume that in your 30s everything need to be sorted! But the truth is id doesn't matter what age you are, it is a constant growth and change! 😍👆🔴
I love Lily silk! Question though you have all these beautiful silk dresses and skirts - do you have problems with snagging? I recently purchased a silk slip dress and after two wears it’s already got snags. Do you have that problem with your lily silk dresses and skirts? I don’t want to invest in some thing that’s going to be so delicate I can barely wear it day today.
Love the floor and paint color together. Beautiful space. Does it get used as overflow for larger parties, if so should seating be appropriate. We all have a vision and you are getting darn good at it. I reiterate my strong feeling about choosing fabrics first, paint second. Literally endless colors available but a limited number of fabrics that you love passionately, you are a feelings person, so fight that desire to quickly get beautiful walls. Seen too many friends have to settle for a just ok fabric or have to repaint the walls. You call it grain board , we in the US call it barn wood. Wasn’t sure until I saw it and the source. Going to look great.
Occasionally I check Tattle life to watch those people have meltdowns, and I swear, they are more obsessed with you than any of your subscribers. Almost in one breath they were speculating about what excuses you would make in your last video for not posting, and then immediately froth at the mouth when you didn't address your absence. And I can count on them for being the first to post about your videos even if your a minute "late". At this point, their insanity is pure amusement.😂
It’s a privilege to be taught how to express our emotions in an emotionally adult way. So I feel nothing but compassion for anyone who doesn’t know how to do that 🤍
The funny thing is that you are doing the same thing by going to such a place and then coming here to comment on it; seeking out something that you know will be upsetting and/or you disagree with so that you can complain about it with likeminded people who will reinforce your opinion.
@@LukeleyI find her to be quite cautious about saying anything that may cause anyone or anyone’s company chagrin. I think she’s putting out very deliberately curated content with a goal of being a positive voice in the crowd.
