If you see aggressive dogs coming at you from the front ride towards them for a second, don't hit them, they will get scared and run away. Use this if there are many dogs and if you really feel threatened. I rode through out the southern part of India during my 4 years stay there. Your rides reminds me of my early to mid twenties. Feeling nostalgic sitting here in my home in California now :(

Okay, that definitely looks like rouge elephant territory! Happy to see that you are recovering well! Never thought it would be those rouge lizards you would have to worry about! 🦎 Good to see that you got right back up on the horse! Thai people and the culture is amazing...always ready to help...we could really learn a thing or two here in North America! You actually may be able to find a pair of protective gloves at a sports shop...I know from shopping for Christmas gifts that there are a lot of options in different protective gear especially for skate boarding and things like that. Here we all are living vicariously through you! When we were in Japan a few years ago our guide told us that the Japanese have no problem adopting cultural aspects from others if they like them, like Christmas, Halloween or the whole white dress and veil wedding. Why not, it's fun. Seems like the Thai are the same. Can't wait until the next installment.

Kevin I think you should buy........oh forget it, you bought a full face shield helmet! Maybe with light and shadows the lack of dark visor is actually better. Trust your instincts, if it looks wrong, you are getting odd looks, its ok to brake and u-turn. Google seems to have EVERY route...not every good route. Mistakes are fantastic! This all made for good RU-vid, perhaps better than you think. Rest up.

Hey Kev. I just back from Chiang Mai a few days ago. Enjoy. It's a great city. I am considering living there when I retire in 2 years. One of the most frustrating parts about driving in Thailand is that the streets arent clearly defined....your google issue is one thing, but very often there are no signs or anything indicating that you might be turning onto a sreeet as opposed to a driveway, parking lot or whatever. I guess that's just one of the great things about Thailand. Be safe....get a good pair of gloves :)

Up in CM I once parked a Scooter in a garage that had only about 10 Scooters parked there. I came back a few hours later and there were 100’s of Scooters in the garage. Took me a while to find my Scooter so now I take a pic of License Plate when I park. Lol

I’ve learned that when in Thailand, always be leery of information that is written in English. That includes Google especially lol if you can understand the instructions it’s probably very outdated or completely wrong lol

The monument you zoomed in on at 16:03 says 土地之神 which is a name of a Chinese traditional deity Tudishen - God of the Soil - it's basically an altar where practitioners of traditional Chinese religion make offerings to the local deity. On the larger one I can't quite make out enough of the writing. It's definitely Chinese - probably graves, Tudishen altars are often placed in cemeteries, since the dead are buried in the soil, they make offerings to the God of the Soil to take care of the graves, and to keep any ghosts from escaping as well.

best off going to a actual m/bike shop for the right gear , a decent helmet will cost you $500 - $1,000 your head is worth it

Interesting with the tombs. Very similar to the ones on Okinawa. My guess it is family tombs from people with Southern Chinese ancestry.

Keep following google maps as it gives me a good laugh. Lol. You are going to suffer from sunburn on your neck if you don’t cover up. A silk scarf or balaclava will also prevent you from burning your nose. Been there, done that. Will not go without sun protection ever again. 😊😊

Google took me to a cornfield one time and wanted me to go straight through. I decided the hell with technology, turned around and went to a gas station and asked for directions. But, I was in the US.

Thats a Chinese Cemetery Kevin, looks a bit run down. For safety gear in Chiang Mai, if you go to Riders Corner Restaurant in the Old City (shouldnt be hard to find) and ask for Ulysses Club Thailand, they will help point you in the right direction for reasonable stuff.. They are a group of international riders over 40 and the Club originated in Oz. You can even say I sent you, it works in the movies..

The bigger one is Graves of Chinese origin. It should be plus minus 100 year old at least .. Actual age of the grave is always engrave on the tomb itself I have seen some of these also in Rural Ratchaburi. The small one is not a grave. It reads " Land of ( something )" unable to translate fully as I am unable to see clearly from the video .

The little stone like grave is not a grave it is for the chinese earth god. The bigger stones are the chinese graves. Beside each grave, there will always be an altar to worship the Earth Deity, the Chinese earth god. This is to thank the Earth Deity for allowing the deceased person to use the deity’s land to return his body to the earth.

Google maps is unreliable because it's free, don't underestimate the need for quality gear for what you're doing my friend. Dedicated satnav and light kevlar gear are worth the investment.

I have had the Apple Maps app take me down dirt roads in rural areas before. Modern technology is not flawless. Did you find it difficult to start driving on the left side of the road? I would be afraid force of habit might kick in at an intersection resulting in an accident.

I bet the bugs there are so big they can pass you on their motorcycles.

I prefer TomTom always Google maps have many mistakes for driving.

Sorry to be that person but those "gloves" look knit and would melt into your skin, you just need the palms and fingers in a material that will protect your skin. That helmet looks too big for you. It's supposed to be a bit tight so you can break it in. On a positive note I really want to fly to Thailand and buy an offroad scooter, can you drive it into other countries? I'd like to go to Bali and then to Vietnam.
