St. Bernadette Soubirous. Where is she in the Lourdes grotto? Lourdes is the site in 1858 of one of the most famous marian apparitions in the world. The focus is all on the Immaculate Conception, as she wanted it. Only one marker remains... The spot where she kneeled during the first apparition.
But Bernadette remains ever-present. Her remarkable example prevailing for generations to come. In her own words, "My job is to tell the message, not to convince you."
In Lourdes there is a famous statue of Bernadette. It has been moved several times. But beckons all to the message of the Virgin.
Also in Nevers, where Bernadette carried out her final vocation as a Sister of Charity, her statue remains in the courtyard, bearing witness to the Immaculate Conception before the room in which she lived her last days and died.
