I lived with my grandparents at village every summer breaks, at that time the village only has dirt road and our house does not have a tv, but a relative got one and they live far, I still remeber to ask my grandpa to take me to their house for watching Journey to the west everyday, even the rainy day he will wear the gumboots and took me on his back. Im glad he is still living but my grandma passed away 2 years ago. and my grandpa hardly recognize me because hes too old now. sadly we all have to grow up and see them go.
Journey to the west is a classic. Iam from France and it was a classical TV program during my childhood afternoon. It was the only chinese TV show represented. I was sure it was Japanese because of DragonBall because everything was translate in french. Journey to the west inspired many directors, cartoonists or writters accross the world ❤
I am a 52 year old Chinese Singaporean, this clip and song got my eyes teary, remembering all the memories watching 1986 "Journey To The West" as a kid, cheering each time Sun Wukong defeated any demons or evil persons, and also learning the teachings of Buddhism whenever his master educated him on any wrongdoings.

During all my childhood as a Vietnamese born in 2004, this song was what I've heard for hundreds times (bet many Asian countries watched the 1986 too). Though I didn't know the meaning, this still evokes a sense of nostalgia

@@zilaiyang9424 Actually that part of Lu Xun's novel was taught in our literature textbook in grade 12, it's nicely aligned with our contemporary literary understanding indeed . But thanks to point out the relation to the song, that's a great reference. I'd listen to it with a Vietnamese sub some time
I remember being 4 years old and watching JTTW 1986 through a screen door at my neighbors house. At 7 in 1997, my parents finally got their own copy and I watched the whole series. Wukong was and still is my favorite hero of all time. This video game makes my heart ache from nostalgia.

By the way, Wukong is the main character in Journey to the West, and he was a Taoist before he supported Jin Chan on the Journey. Also, Journey is similar "on the Way" and "the Way" also means Dao or Tao. Kinda a reasonable circle 😅
Always watched the endings with my grandfather. Was always blue because it was the end of the episode. Like holding on to something that's gonna end as much as possible. So memorial.

When watching the 1986's movie, I only felt excited when wukong was very strong, defeating many yaoquais on the road easily, but through this game, I felt how difficult the road was
