Oh, and I love the segue "We can go to where we first met. Let's do it!" Camera then steadily pans up and down river. I'm like "Either they're mermaids, kelpies or avid fishermen." LOL
I got married in Doune Castle. Driven through the village many times on the way to the Distillery or the hills. Can’t say I ever saw a single person on the streets! So a move to touristy Callendar is a smart call. Shop looks great, will call in for sure next time I’m over there. Good luck, thought you were terrific on Aqvavitae. So another subscriber here.
Never would have guessed the name of your channel had any inspiration from Monty Python! Very cool origin story and I loved getting to see your shop. If only I lived closer (Las Vegas is a bit of a hike)!
Nice video girls, lve been watching your interesting light hearted whisky reviews for few months now after seeing you on the OSWAS last year with Roy and Ralfy. I've been watching Ralfy for many years so it's nice to have a female perspective on whisky as women tend to smell and taste better than men. 🤔
Great looking store. Congrats! Here in Virginia, all hard liquor stores are owned and run by the State Government (VA ABC). They price everything to their liking since there is no competition. We are next to Maryland (also state owned stores) and Wash DC (individuals can own a store) but who wants to take that risk of getting robbed or stabbed due to the recent increase in crime. Prices have been going up steadily in the last 5 years. Also, many brands you mention (Springbank, Deanston, GlenAllachie, Glen Scotia) don't exist here. If you find them in DC, then the prices are all jack up. I was recently in Switzerland and compared the Whiskey prices with our area. They are mostly comparable if you buy it at a SuperMarket. If you go to a fancy store in downtown Geneva, you pay the premium. I am sorry that I did not pick up a bottle of Arran 10 for 40 Swiss Frank with two complimentary glasses. Arran does not exist here either. Cheers!
So glad you have found more viewers, I'm always recommending the channel to fellow whisky geeks. Might be organising a trip to Scotland d this summer, will have to stop by
And now for something completely different... A man that smelt of Elderberries. 🤣 Whisky Noob here, late to the Scotch game, new to your channel, love you guys! Since I'm in the South Eastern part of the US, I know about bourbons, but learning about the different Scotch's that are available, and all of the history, the different regions, the different noses, palettes, and afters is amazing! Thanks you guys! Wish I could send you some good old KY bourbon and trade out! LOL!
Awh thanks for this video! kind of nice to watch a few behind the scenes things. road trip videos or shop videos in general (maybe the logistics behind the shop or supply chain rants ;)) would be cool. All the best!
That was a nice one - I’ve only been to Scotland once (in June), and that was pretty much what the weather was like (It suits me:). The shop is very nice, but I can see it’s not geared toward bourbon fans, with that lone bottle of Michter’s representing the whole industry (a fair representative though, if there has to be only one).
Haha Glad you agree with the Michters, We do always want to stock more Bourbons but the problem is there are so many things we want to stock more of!!!😂
I had a laugh when I saw FEW Rye on the shelf there. That's one of the more unique (and delicious) craft ryes that I can't even convince people here in the states to try...and here it shows up in Scotland. The history of that company is quite unique. I gave Two Finger Spirits their background story - "F.E.W. is the initials of Frances E. Willard, the woman who led the Temperance Movement centered in Chicago that ushered in Prohibition and caused the owner's grandfather to lose his brewery which he was never able to get back. The statues on the labels are from the Chicago World's Fair (Evanston is basically a part of Chicago and they consider themselves an urban distillery). They source their own grains then ferment, distill, barrel and age all their own spirits (no MGP here). F.E.W. does make a Bottled in Bond bourbon in addition to the recommended straight rye, as well as a single malt whiskey and an American straight whiskey. They also make an Immortal Rye that's blended with Oolong tea and a cold-cut bourbon that's blended with cold-brewed coffee."
We knew about the name being the initials of Frances Elizabeth Willard and the temperance movement but we didn't know about the family connection to the distillery! We wondered if it was a dig at her to name the distillery after her or if it was really in her honour as, other than her dislike of alcohol, she seemed quite a cool and forward thinking lady!? As tea and coffee drinkers we might have to dry to get hold of those two expressions! They sound right down our street!
A bit like Thelma and Louise without the sad ending 🙂 What is the last line on the T shirts please as constant hovering over some shots seems wrong on a whisky vlog ;-) Ps I am not a Whisky snob, great work girls love the shop.
BTW, is GlenAllachie harder to find in Scotland nowadays? Until recently, it was falling off the shelf and now it's become basically unobtainium here in the US. That's a real shame since I often use GlenAllachie 12 to convince people who think they hate whiskey that they in fact like whiskey, they just haven't had a good one like GlenAllachie.yet.
