Hope you've enjoyed this video and it's answered some questions! We're being a bit secretive about where we're heading (out of our control!), but we can't wait to start sharing our proper adventures with you all now the Bedford project is finished. Don't forget to drop a comment below and say hi!
Can't believe you got your old LDV summoned again, I owned one for about seven years ...and I feel the love. I'm sure this autumnal trip will be a rust bucket galvaniser!, but just to really add some sheen I think a little tree planting effort somewhere would go a long way ...I'm sure it's what Greta would do. All the best guys
Tanfastic News..looking forward to seeing your next videos ..the LDV is "Alive n Well " I drive a 00.. 2.2 Sprinter ..usual Rust on the Cills but an easy repair..I also have a Merc. 709d No Electronics. Basic go forever Van.. I also have a big trip in mind ..but that's next year..I'm only 77.. So Keep The Dream Alive.... A line from song ..Ruby Tuesday..Loose your Dreams n You Loose Mind ..a great rendition of that by Dick Gaughan..Peace and happiness to you both ❤ 👍
Wow sounds awesome! We much prefer basic vans with no electronics, they only cause headaches! You’re never too old to travel, what an awesome trip that’ll be, much respect! Perfectly summed up in those song lyrics too 💚
Hi Guys I have just found your channel after seeing Project Amber. Duct tape cam cover all sorts of sins and if you spray it afterwards it becomes semi permanent and looks a lot better than all the pop rivets. Good luck with your future travels.
Hi, thanks so much for checking us out! ☺️ Haha that’s a pro tip right there! Might have to try that in future when more pieces of our van inevitably fall off 😂
From some silly interest in a what not to buy English Van ldv into a totally new world of things i never new or seen before i really enjoy your videos and the way you progress big thumbs up for you both and Of course LDV (i personly don.t think modern technologie would do it any better !
Thanks for the lovely comment! So glad you’ve enjoyed seeing our adventures, the LDV is still going strong for now although the basic electrics it does have can be a bit temperamental 😄 Definitely couldn’t see ourselves in a modern van!
I genuinely wish you had taken the kitchen out and got the leaks welded up proper instead of plating it, it's always worth the extra work but I'm glad you have the old girl up and running again. I understand you are looking at something else but still, that's just my take on it. I am in the midst of deliberation of fixing the gearbox, replacing the gearbox or just scrapping the old Bongo I have so I know the pains and the 'where do you draw the line'. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the non limp mode travel vids..!
Yeah it would’ve been great to have it done properly and looking tidy, there’s just no end to the rust on this thing and it’s getting to the point that we don’t know how much more money we want to throw at it. Realistically we’d be looking at stripping the entire interior, welding multiple new panels on and possibly the floor too. Like you say, hard to know where to draw the line! Sounds like you’ve got a decent project there on the go 👌
Brilliant news , looking forward to the new series. I’ve a soft spot for LDV’s especially yours, that van is part of you two and you stories. The last series was quite riveting and made very enjoyable viewing. Just watched your review of the ( mobile fridge ) ha ha ha it was brilliant and showed your acting and especially your filming and editing skills. Best wishes for the future, take care both 🚐👍
Aaw thanks so much! 😄 We definitely put our van through its paces, it wouldn’t be the same adventure without it! We love looking back on the last series, but with what we’ve learned now we think our next series is going to be even better! Thanks for checking out the fridge video too, that was a lot of fun to make! 😁 Have a great weekend!
This takes me back to my days as an apprentice LDV mechanic, they never had E.C.U's in those days but quite a lot of mechanical repairs and maintenance.
@@duncanobrien4951 Very nice! They were proper workhorses back in their day. Wish ours didn’t have so many complicated electrics, they only cause problems! 😅
@@FromRustToRoadtrip the loose damper in your video that was making the donking noise, that was also unfortunately a common problem with LDV but preventable if checked regularly.
It's pretty impressive that your TV series was the third most watched; that must give you a well justified feeling of pride and achievement. I've always been surprised that this channel doesn't have more views and subscribers. They're a bit juicy, but IMO a 1980's/1990's Toyota Landcruiser would be a top vehicle for future travels. I never thought I'd say this in Cornwall, but I'm actually looking forward to a bit of cool and rain....
It’s honestly unbelievable! Definitely gives us more confidence in our work. A Land Cruiser would be awesome! That’s be able to go anywhere, but we have a soft spot for old British vehicles 😅 Yes a bit of cooler weather would be nice, at least we have the sea breeze here unlike the cities! 🥵
Great news about all your upcoming plans. It all sounds really exciting and hopefully very photogenic and memorable. I would love to see places like Mongolia or Tibet. Often talked about but rarely visited. The perfect conversion for you would be some ex MOD vehicle but not sure how they would go down in those countries. Perhaps your unique colour schemes would help! BW’s Guy.
Thank you! Yes some proper adventures await on the horizon 😄 Mongolia is the dream one day 😍 We love the idea of travelling in a huge overlander and most people do end up sizing up after a bit of travelling, but we’re actually going smaller as we find even the size of our van restricts us sometimes. But whatever it is it will be blue! 😂
Awesome. I'm seriously expecting some figurines and an LDV push toy out of this, on your way to cult status. Couldn't be more delighted, going to look into a subscription unless the series is released generally (but where??)
Haha love that idea! We did actually look into getting little LDV Convoy figurines and hand painting them with our van paint, but nobody seems to sell them funnily 🤔 Unfortunately NHK Premium is only available to residents of Japan, although the show is being broadcast on NHK General (their equivalent of BBC1 we think) this Thursday 10am UK time if you’re somehow able to tune into that. Equally we do have a link for private viewing which we can send to you in a private message, what would be the best platform to reach you on?
if your Convoy finally does actually get _beyond economical repair,_ it'll still be in better nick than mine! but seriously, if it does, i'm not far from Falmouth, it'll be like the circle of life.
@@FromRustToRoadtrip thanks, indeed i couldn't imagine either, but if i said that you could see both front wheels from the driver's seat, it'll give you a good idea... i don't have instagram but i'll pop you an FB message if you have it.
Hi guys .I just stumbled across your channel. I'm going to see an ldv convoy 2005 2.4 with 90k on it for €700. If you were to start again. Would you buy a LDV or go for something else 🤔??
Hey! So I guess on balance yes we would, or at least we’re glad we ended up with this van! There were so many LDVs on the road when we bought ours but now there’s so few left, so they’re worth holding onto and keeping in good repair because one day they’ll be a classic! The 2.4 engine is sound, despite what everyone says the engine has been the most reliable part of our van! Unfortunately they’re just very prone to rust, so for €700 we would be a little suspicious, so make sure you have a good check of the chassis, sills, roof gutter and floor. Most of it is repairable, so it depends how much of a project you’re looking for. Similarly our van was on 74k when we bought it, so the mileage on yours seems good. If the bodywork is in good condition it’s probably worth going for! We’ll leave a link to an article on our website here which should help you decipher what to look for when you go to check it out ☺️
