jim68 Also an accidental one. I remember reading that the people who made this commercial were actually attempting to make the "That's a big bun" the slogan for this commercial, and, well... did it wrong.
at least they aren't pushing that artifical meat gunk known as "Impossible" burgers. Hell its healthier to eat that pink slurry over those Impossible items.
Legend says there were actually 7 main characters in the Golden Girls. 3 however never made it into the show because they were on pursuit for The Beef.
Gotta love Clara Peller! She was the best! This commercial was, and still is by far, downright hilarious! Her "Where's the beef?" became one of the most popular catchphrases of all times!
Gotta love Clara! She was a classic. This was one of the most simplistic commercials, yet it was brilliant. Where's the beef became one of the most popular catch phrases of all time.
I love how people born after 1983 have a "beef" with this commercial. Too young to remember the commercial, too young to remember what TV was like before the mid-90s, when everything changed.
This is such a classic commercial , I still remember it 35 years later. They don’t make commercials like this anymore? Very unique and original, and the older ladies add to the uniqueness
This ad was probably one of the best ever created. It taught a generation to shop smart, maintain quality control and NEVER piss off an old geezer who wants her beef!
I remember this started a mini craze. I had a "Wear's The Beef" t-shirt. Kids at school would say the phrase. And it even became office humor and water cooler conversation. Even a few politicians used it while it was alive.
No one ever talks about the hysterical tuba music, that big bullpen behind them with no one waiting in line, or the costumes and wigs. Everything about this commercial was sheer genius and soooo funny! I’ll never forget the first time I saw it and burst out laughing! The next day at school everyone was asking “Where’s the beef?”
For those too young to know - the slogan "where's the beef" became ubiquitous throughout the country and was borrowed for many things. You didn't have to watch this commercial to hear it several times a day. Everyone used it in just everyday language. It was great fun. The lady became quite popular for a while and appeared of various talk shows.
This commercial was and still is hilarious! I remember the year it came out, my friends and I even did a skit based on it for the school talent show. I don't know which we had more fun with, the actual performance, or the practicing!
I ordered a double and got a single and my fiance was lol when l got out my sandwhich opened the wrapper looked at it and with out even thinking about it l exclaimed "where's the beef?"
Wendy's STILL USES BEEF. At least I can say that! I went to Wendy's 3 days ago and ordered the Baconator, and DAMN it had huge beef patties! Nice, greasy, tender beef patties. They take their beef seriously.
One of my all-time favorite commercials. From my favorite decade. And favorite year! 1984. The year I graduated high school. The class of '84 has more! 😎😎😎😎😎⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾
@@kellychuang8373 you can't be that stupid you do realize the government is the one causing all of this chaos right all of the countries governments are in on it they're all working together to destroy each and every economy individually to create a huge form of Chaos to seek order from it oh wait sorry you believe in Fairytales my bad
It was one of the BEST ads ever produced. No, not because she keeps saying 'where's the beef'--although that does add it's part--but because of the other two admiring the bun. "It's certainly a big bun." "A very big bun". "A big fluffy bun'. So good.
This actually happened to me at a McDonalds once! I was on a lunch break during my EMT recertification class and opted to hit the McDonalds behind the rescue squad. I asked for a cheeseburger with lettuce, ketchup, and mustard. I got back to the squad and discovered that...well, at least they got the toppings right. But NO burger OR cheese, just the toppings on the bun! So I stomped back down there and asked the person behind the counter “What is this, Wendy’s?” When he asked what I meant, I opened the bun and shot back, “Where’s the beef?” He laughed and gave me the cheeseburger made right!
@Karl with a K Why should I waste what amounts to a word salad saying essentially the same thing when four will do? The “Where’s the Beef?” commercial was immensely popular and even now has gone viral on RU-vid and other sites, so it’s not like people can’t immediately make the connection. At least I was able to use that quote to make light of the situation and joke about it instead of being a total Karen about it and ripping them a new one, which sadly is what too many people do these days. You do you, and let me be me.
Seeing this commercial again for the first time in a long time brings back memories of my youth for me. I'm sure everyone feels the same way. This commercial is pure nostalgia. BTW, "Where's the beef?"
My mother was a lunch lady when this commercial was popular. On hamburger day, the principal made a morning announcement telling the kids not to keep saying "where's the beef?" in the lunch line.
This commercial became so iconic that it launched the career of an 80 year old Russian manicurist named Clara Peller, whose name is still remembered today. She even appeared on SNL and in a few movies, all resulting from this ad.
Clara made 317.00 dollars per day making these Wendy's commercials, while Wendys had some of their biggest sales years ever when she was the pitch woman.
I miss seeing this commercial on📺 oh yeah, i do. It's still hilarious to this day. Also I just heard it on 99.9 hawk radio station. I think that Wendy's should do a anniversary for this commercial or something. We had some great stuff in the 80s and 90's
Back then, I worked at Wendy's. Our store was the next in line for Clara to come to. We got a phone call from her agent letting us know she passed. We were so disappointed and devastated. RIP
