Where's the leak?? 2010 Skidoo renagade 1200. changing the oil tank.

As always, great work. I was particularly impressed by the cleaning of the well before putting the engine back in. Most places wouldnt even bother. Going that extra little bit just shows the dedication :) I gotta make my way to Peterborough with my sled :P You are smarter than a lot of guys in the industry. Call pro shops for different things and you get a LOT of "I dont knows."

Hi Pete, FYI Bombardier sold their recreation division { now called BRP} about 20 years ago, just build Private jets now. They also sold off their Train division and commercial aircraft division as well.

Nice video, my 1200 is in now, but we decided to weigh the motor before putting it back. Empty, no manifold, like you had it sitting there, it weighs 140 lbs. So yeah, I can understand you blew a nut, haha.

Engineering marvel for sure to cram all that in there but a real nightmare for the mechanic. I'll stick with the old XC that has the flip up power barn for the foreseeable future 😎

I'm a tech at a dealership in the u.s. and I just had to do one of these. Resealed the tank and reinstalled engine, once I started machine and ran it on a stand at 50mph the tank pressurized and popped the orings on the tank again. Took engine back out and found scoring on the oil suction pump causing the circulation of the oil system to over pressurize the oil tank. Had to replace oil pump and I rings and reseal oil tank and everything worked out again. Not too bad of a job except when you have to do it twice

I haven't rode since the 1990's but it appears to me that these new sleds are seriously complicated. Is it overkill?

Had to do this on a new to me 09 GSX. Then had to pull the motor again shortly after when the magneto delaminated...motor doesn't get any lighter the second time.

Amazing looking doo your a great guy for going the extra mile still think I'm going to drive my old vmax triple a lot easier to work on how would I acquire a few decals it would make a great addition to our sleds I wasn't sure if you have a merch website

All what is related from ski-doo is very expensive, those oring are gold lol...I have a 1200 2013 with a leak...but I think I will wait an other year to do it lol

If it's any consolation, Yamaha can't make an oil tank that doesn't leak either. Despite using aluminum they mounted it to the frame and the constant flexing does it's thing to make them leak at the seams. Fortunately, they're easy to get to, some JB Weld and good to go.

I had a 2010 MXZ 1200. I put more money in that sled over here. Unbelievable. It was always something. And something was always a lot of money. I bought a Yamaha.

the skidoo 2 bangers were as good as any other out there as long as you throw away the oil tank and mix yer gas as soon as it comes off warranty

Just finished replacing my oil tank too. It sure is a pain in the arse.

It's a damn shame that you can't get that oil tank made out of aluminum seems like it would last a lot longer and it would be a much tougher tank and as far as the o-ring Go they might leave on an aluminum tank well there's really no way to know but I would try to have an aluminum tank made heck you might make a mint at aluminum tanks replacement .

I think the ones on the header bolts that are hard to get off I think the header slotted that they just slide in behind that that's how it used to be on the older ones

I have 2 of those 1200's with Garrett 2860 turbos on them ,running Tapp clutches on them, they are fun. Where are you guys located?

Plastic is used everywhere cars and bikes so fourth.not alot of the oil tanks leak.but it's 10 years old so pretty good track record

Btw one of these clutched n tuned run very strong. Pull like a train. I own a 99 HO doo that's pretty hot and my 1200 beats it lol

Four strokes are not that much heavier then some two strokes. My Yamaha nytro is only 40lbs heavier then my old Polaris edge x 800.

I don't know if i ever buy a 4-stroke snowmobile. I think people are still buying 2 strokes over 4 stroke snowmobiles just saying.

This is why I don't like the new stuff. It's such a pain to work on and it shouldn't have these type of issues for what a person has to pay in order to get a sled.
