Old sleds never die! Those 377 were and stilll are a very popular sled for it's light weight and a bit more speed then a 340! I had 2 of them and wish I still had them! Dam covid cranked the price of vintage sleds through the roof.
Hey Pete ,I'm also A mechanic named Pete.its good to have u aboard getting tired of the same old shit.I live north of Detroit which is sill north of Canada 🇨🇦 but good to have some new channel.your a funny Dude.oh hey get more of your ol' lady on, she's hot!
They were a great old sled.i had one years ago and it was reliable. Alawys started and never had to fix it really.picking up another one tomarrow. 😊great videos i really enjoy them.thanks and cheers
I got a new 1985 Safari 377 for Christmas when I was in 10th grade. It was a quick fun sled that even channeled the heat from the engine to a vent under the windshield. It was a good place to warm the hands. It got cold up in Northern Maine...
A guy has the exact same sled but a 1986 447 i used to have a 80 377 citation. But blew the motor cause the oil pump fell off. We rebuilt it then sold it. Keep up the work bud
lovin your know how on the various videos and sleds. if we were chillin, we'd spend a good while just talking about wrenching.. you're an awesome handy man! much love from AK!
Quick tip.,or secret to you Flex seal will fix those rubber boots to.& right stuff works to its rubber in A spray can. Try flex seal out. The price could be cheaper.,or close to that right stuff. Either product will works on those. Even black silicone works good to for rubber boot repairs. The WD-40,or kroil oil works good as A moisture.& water displacer in fuel tanks it helps clean carbon out of cylinders.& exhausts systems to. Good luck. 2 thumbs ☝ up.
Hey Pete I heard you mention loosing the straws off you cans of brake Kleenex or lube. What we do at our shop is when you set up a new can put some silicone around the straw and cap. The next day it’s good to go and you will never loose it. Love your videos by the way. Your friend Marc (Bossman) Lalonde.
Awesome old school stuff, with a little jamming and a good sense of humor to boot.🍺👍🏻those sleds always seem to run better with a few cans under the hood...lol
You crack me up you’re one smart son of a gun for one thing and you’re one line punch, lines, killer you’re doing a great job buddy you’re very enjoyable to watch. Keep up the good work from Maine.
I owned a 79 polaris 440. My friend had a 92 Safari. Our neighbor owned 2 1993 models. Eventually made one. Then done lol. Those sleds had no suspension. Not powder queens. Ice fishing, beer hauling buggies.
Without a doubt the greatest snow mobile video on RU-vid!!!! Dedicated subscriber for life!!! Looking forward to bingeing your channel, you seem like a great mechanic, is there anything you can do to bring some snow??? Lol... On a side note me buddy Shawn is nicknamed the rubber boot bandit
haha that's awesome!! I really appreciate that man and all the support on the channel! cheers 🍻 and on a side note...we got a fella round here called Jonny Green Boots! lmao 🤣🍻
Keep on wrenchin' and ridin' and filmin', the season seems to keep getting shorter. I like watching wrenching, I had 2 70's era skidoos that I had to figure out how keep running top notch. And my buddies dad had a Safari so I put a few miles on one of them.
all of the old sleds are bringing back good memories bud. keep up the great vids man and dont worry i kept drinking beers until your singing tune straightened out lol. Cheers from Newfoundland brother!
Well that was sweet, what ya did Fer that old sled. I'm an old guy (70) and my nieghbor rents ice shantys out for spearing pike. He's got an ice boat for crossing the channel. 18 foot aluminum hull w/ a Lycoming airplane motor pushing it across the ice. Once across the channel he uses a 1968 single cylinder johnson sled to pull the fisherman to the the shantys. And he's got a spare sled of the same vintage Fer parts 😜. And he still axes the holes thru the ice. Old school 🚸.
Ya....love da Molson rack eh? Love the old sleds.. been out of it for awhile. Sold our skeds when we left Mt. and moved back to Minnesota. I gotta find a fixer-upper!
My first sled was a 90 safari 377. My buddies called it the super tanker because I could ride all day and have plenty of fuel left. Sold many gallons of fuel. Kept for 3 years and since ride Polaris. 95 Arctic Cat 580 zr for a spare. Love your channel. Yakima Washington
What a great video Pete, made my day! Took me me back to my early 70's Ski Doo experiences in Restoule. Great song by the way and the two four rack is priceless! Best sled videos on YT keep it going!!!
Enjoy your channel! I snowmobiled from the early '70's through the early 2000's. My last 2 sleds were a snowcross 2001 Arctic Cat SnoPro 440 with a tunnel heat exchanger added for trail riding and a snowcross SkiDoo MXZX modded with low compression power domes, oil pump and tank and 10 gal tank for trail use. They were the ultimate trail selds at that time. Not the fastest across the lake left 'em in dust in the twisties. Keep up the good work ... wobble pops!!!! Love it!
Great vid, I worked on a pile of these at a dealership from 1981 to 1990. The same engine was in the 4500 citations, that 377 engine model was a pretty good engine. I do need to just mention that the date on the side of the tunnel is the build date, May 1985, but the model year is a 1986 377 safari. The 1985 model had a black hood and was built in 1984. Like cars and such.
You're welcome for all the views.... I send a lot of your vids to my buddys. Now... I'll expect a discount when I bring my 1100 turbos to you for some "tweaks" 🤣🤣🤣🤣... And I'll bring the bud lights. Hahaha.
Ever notice how the tracks fail on those machines fail. Usually the edge of the track gives out. If you mount a third wheel (even a fourth) in the center on the rear axel the tension is spread out over the width of the track rather than just the edges. I did it on a 85 250 citation and a 89 Tundra. Works like a charm
Glad to find this site ! I left home in 1970 to come to australia. Hot unit when I left home was the Ski Doo TNT 440. Strangly enough, down here my mate calls me a Northern Redneck !! LOL. How does this uniot compare performance wise to the old 440 ???
Pete your a funny guy I use to own one of them. Not a bad sled not the best but it is what it is right . And yeah keep on sing buddy I thought that was great cheer's pete lol.
