Great, informative video. New subscriber. It's June 1st on Greers Ferry in Arkansas. Lake is about as high as it's been in a long time. Some boat ramps are barely accessible. From what I can tell, the lake is still on the rise. We've got lots of flooded trees and bushes. We've also got lots of bluffs. I haven't been on the lake for a few weeks, so I'm not sure how stained the water is in the river arms, but there was an excessive amount of debris in the water at the time. Your thoughts on how to approach this situation?

There are two things I would do. If the rain has stopped for a day or two I would run up as far as I can towards the upper end and see if any clearer water is there. The dirtier water will keep working its way to the lower and and if you can find cleaner water upstream you could have a real catch fest. The other option that I would do, especially if the water is still on the rise, is focus on steep banks like bluffs or 45 degree banks. I try to eliminate the fish from spreading out horizontally and just let them move vertically on the steeper banks. If the water is real stained or dirty on those steeper shorelines, they will be tight to it. I hope this helps some. I've fished a lot in Arkansas, but not Greer's Ferry. Hope to some day. Thanks for watching!

Steve, our lake has a very deep section (compared to the rest of the lake) which is over 100 feet deep. It's a very steep bank and is sand and gravel as it enters the water. Using side scan it appears that is pretty consistent for quite a ways down. The lake only fluctuates by a few inches during rain, so we don't really have high and low water, as it empties extremely quickly through an overflow. After a front or during Spring, I idle over the deep section just out from the bank and try to see fish on my graph. When I see them, I note the depth and usually start fishing similar depths throughout the lake and can usually get some bites there. Is this a coincidence or do you see a reason for that?

It sounds like they may be relating to a thermocline if the majority of the fish are at a similar depth. That is normally something that is more pronounced during the summer months though. I'm thinking either temperature or oxygen related.
