Awesome video! Thank you! But which would you prefer to fish? Counting durability to action to price. Taking everything into account for the best value lure all around
Yup. 2nd season boat owner & everytime last season i always over corrected. & i just wanna say that everyone i experenced at the ramp was always understanding & polite. Gotta start somewhere. & it takes lots of pratice. Just take your time & relax.
I really like any paddle tail type lure for rigs like this. The Rage Swimmers come in sizes ranging from that small one I used in this video all the way up to one over 5in long. Keitech also has some that will fit that size hook well.
Another home run video! Great to see underwater footage. Anglers here on Lake Murray use them in early fall to catch schooling Striped Bass. I like the small, collapsible ones that fit my tackle box.
Here in Mississippi, there aren't really any restrictions on the number of hooks an A-rig can have, so I don't think I can be much help in that department, lol. But that fish sure had a fat tummy on it. Awesome catch!
Yes, that little guy apparently was on the minnows. Lol. The way my fishery has declined in recent years it was good to see one that actually had a belly.
Matt and Tim from Tactical Bassin came out with a micro A rig and it is awesome! They also have a mini A rig which I’ll be throwing this up coming winter. Look em up on TW. They collaborated with Hog Farmer lures. What makes their A rigs superior is the flex in the wiring. When you pump em on your retrieve they collapse a bit, then spring back open. Very life like! 🎣
I really like using small a rigs. I've been throwing the tactical basin mini flex rig without baldes & with megabass 3" spark shads or 3" haze dongs a couple years now. That set up gets bites everywhere. I haven't got their micro flex rig. But I plan on it! Here in SC we can use 5 hooks. But I just use bottom 3 baits with hooks & top 2 as teasers. I haven't missed enough fish I feel like I need the top baits to have hooks.
Thank you for sharing your experience with these. I definitely have some more experimenting to do but like you said, those bass definitely show up to see what is going on with in.
I'm not a fan of the full size umbrella rigs Steve., but I have tried those micro A-rigs and have done very well at times. In my opinion you need the right conditions for them. I like to use the Hazedong shad on my rigs. The Hog Farmer micro rig with and without the blades is my bait of choice. The smallmouth love them.
Steve, hope you’re well! Glad you like the baby A-Rig. Scott at Bassdope makes killer stuff and is a local Illinois bass fanatic and overall top-notch guy.
Well, that is not really surprising if you know where colors come from. Each color, apart from black and white, is created because it REFLECTS the very light wavelength we perceive as color, e.g. a blue color reflects blue wavelengths. Black is a an exception because it reflects NO wavelengths (or it absorbs all wavelengths), and white is also an exception, because it reflects ALL wavelengths. Based on that it is pretty clear why white is so visible in dark water - it basically reflects any light that hits it.
Great vid! Like all tools, there's a time and place for everything..a great angler like yourself, Steve, experiments to CONSTANTLY improve. Thank you for, not just sharing your process, but for your SPIRIT as well!
What I do to have a free fall with every plastic, I fix the lead about 12 inches from the lure so that the lead can't move. You will always have a free fall of around 12 inches.
All good information, I don't know if I'd say I need the biggest motor the boat is rated for but I definitely wouldn't get anything under the minimal recommend HP. For example a lot of 21' bass boats are rated for up to 300hp, when you look at the manufacturers recommendation it will typically says something like, Recommended HP 250-300. In the vast majority of these cases the 250 is plenty. And if you're a tournament fisherman there might be HP limitations to enter your tournament. Other than that from my decades of boating and fishing I'd say yeah this video is spot on.
Dame Juliana Berners was using two or more flies in the 15th century. I don’t think using multiple lures or attractors is anything new. I am thrilled however to try anything that makes fishing more enjoyable. Isn’t that the point!?

In smaller gravel and rock it does really well, in larger rock in can slip into the crevices. Whenever I fish rock I do try to use the lightest weight I can.
@@SteveRogersOutdoors I use the lightest weight as well, in general. Maybe use a small length of lead (or the modern equivalent where lead is a no-no) wire doubled over the eye where there are heavier rocks to make it easier to slip through? Those are also the areas that hold the sort of critters a ned rig imitates, too.
The back bay I mostly fish is drowned flooded timber and weeds. There's an area where there are a number of scattered glacial erratic boulders and guess what. There's never any fish there. They must be too happy with all the wood and weeds everywhere else.
I'm having fun nailing brookies so I decided I want to maybe hit up bass too. Snagged a Lews combo baitcaster and hoping I can nail some smallmouth soon
I've been bass fishing 40 years and still struggle to locate fish or locate fish and also figure out what they'll bite! If I catch 2 fish on a 4-6 hour trip I consider it a success, zero to 1 is like a somewhat normal outing. It just never seems to really click, maybe once in a blue moon I stumble upon the jackpot pattern but it feels more like a blind squirrel moment.
I just found your channel about a week ago and I must be subscribed to 50 plus bass fishing channels by now but yours is hands down the best channel. The content and the way its presented is so helpful for anyone from beginner to advanced angler I believe.
