What do poker, “A Taste of Honey” and dancing all have to with each other? Who knows - it’s the 60’s man…anything goes!
A big thank you to “Uncle George” for sharing another rare video of “Where the Action Is”. It’s always so cool seeing these!
Herbie’s hit song is at #10 today on the Billboard Hot 100 and will peak at #7 in 3 weeks.
The Action Kids: playing poker are Jerilyn Stapleton (with the diamond straight flush) and Joy Ciro (clubs straight flush). Dancing today are Jill Gordon, Lesley Evans, Steve Ciro, Pete Menafee, Roberta Tennes, Mike Williams and Roger Minami (they switch shirts during the breaks)
….And 5 years ago today I posted my first video on what would become YouCanDanceToit! (I still question the exclamation mark at the end….was it really necessary? lol) - my overdubbed version of the kids on American Bandstand doing the swim to “Can You Do It” by the Contours. From 5 subscribers (all my family) to almost 80,000, 300 videos and 43 million views later, I’m thrilled beyond words that so many people share my love for American Bandstand and other shows that featured the great dancing and music of the 1960’s. It's also been so great chatting with some of the dancers who were there like Don Sanuskar, Peggy (Waggoner) Names, John Pollard, Stan Soburn and Susan (Hipple) Phillips . Whether you were there or just wish you had been, thank you for sharing so many of your insights, thoughts and memories (many of them have been real tear-jerkers) and thank you for coming along for the ride!
Much more great stuff to come.

Just great😢😮😅 I have watched this several times. It has a mythical meaning to me now. In the fog of the bridge as the cars disappear, so do those of us that lived during this time and enjoyed the music. The grayness of the film makes it somber but the Action Kids just keep dancing into the eternal mist and we with them:)

Happy 5th anniversary YCDTI! One of my all time favorites of Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass. And again thanks to Uncle George, wherever you are for, for this rare gem. I have learned a lot from watching this channel and reading the comments including some good stuff on the artist, the show itself, even the dancers and their insight. Although I am a bit partial to the Cali years (including getting hooked on AB reruns when VH1 was airing them), I liked some of the Philly clips as well. Here's to another 5 years. Oh, since the traditional 5th anniversary gift is wood and the modern 5th anniversary gift is silverware, it's best that I will send you a box of toothpicks and a package of KFC sporks, postage due. Lol. Take care!

Thanks to both Uncle George and Aaron for yet another lost gem clip. I'm curious to know where this was filmed. Just yesterday, I was humming this very song as I was working in the kitchen... What a coincidence huh? Thanks for 5 great years, and hopefully they'll be another 5 years to come! 😀👍

Happy 5 years on YT Aaron and here's wishing you 50 more, at least. I see the folks at WTAI spared no expense with the costumes, props and location filming. I wonder if Jerilyn and Joy won Emmys for their acting here.

Pete Menafee will sometimes comment about these clips on the Action Kids Facebook page. He confirms that it was a very limited budget for sure. In that “Third Man Theme” clip, for example, he said those costumes were just their white outfits with black tape stuck on them. I’d like to see what he says about this one. Thanks Keith!

@YCDTI he thinks the dance number was lame. To shed some light on that, the number was choreographed by a man who'd not had any professional dance training, merely a stint as a club dancer.

Herb Albert. Talented musician- Tijuana Brass. Smart businessman - A&M Records. One lucky guy- married to the lovely and talented Lani Hall. Aaron I can relate about the exclamation mark at the end as you can see from my name. I also question my choice especially putting a space in between- duh! Congratulations on the sucess of this channel. Thank you for it I personally watch at least three different of your videos everyday so that is multiple times for each. Never mind what I said. I downloaded the video and boosted the brightness, it actually does have those gates in the far background, and it is quite long now that I can see it with the picture bright.

on this video while dancing I pretty sure no one has noticed slight dancing on recording mistake captured for ever on this video . Want to see for your self ? oK on time 1:10 keep your eyes on the #2 girl rite when music slowly ends and video screen starts to fade away end you can see #2 girl moves to her right and shows how she was exhausted covered her face as tired . I'm not by any means sharing this for judging in negative dance on #2 girl only a whoopsie Daisy mistake on camera guy . Simply a share whoopsie Daisy on 60s 👉❤️🌍😸
