Could you give a rough estimate on the cost of the repair? I need to have mine repaired and was wondering what I'd be looking at before sending across country.

That can vary widely depending upon the issue. My guess would be a capsule cleaning, perhaps with minor repair would be a few hundred dollars. I think this is the 'typical' service. If you need new capsules, they are over $1000 for real OEM parts. My mics needed a major overhaul and were about $1500-1800/ea to restore to better than new condition with all new (real) Neumann factory parts. I needed new capsules and a handful of replacement component parts, plus some mechanical parts to look as new - a major overhaul. They're awesome now. I figured, what good is the mic if it's not working perfectly. The service gives me a brand new, but actually vintage U87, for less than half the price of a new 87iA. I'm very satisfied with the outcome.
