Hi Devin, Love watching you. I found some great plant varieties at a big box store. They do have some great plants that you dont find everywhere. I dont think most of the employees are knowledgeable and as a result, alot of the plants are in poor condition. Either over watered or just neglected. With that being said, i love to RESCUE the neglected plants and bring them back to life. These are usually at a great discount and it makes me so happy to watch them flourish when in my house, Keep up the great work!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like the way you have your plants set up you have a nice collection also like your new haircut I had a question does your family own Robertas Garden you look so familiar to me I have been getting plants from Logees since 1979 long time thanks for sharing
I find some really great plants at Trader Joe’s and the prices can’t be beat. You just never know what they will have. I always stop when I happen to be nearby. But they are 40 minutes away so that helps! Lol
That's a helpful and thoughtful video; I was hoping somebody would list plant sources, and here comes Devin to deliver the goods! I am liking the local garden centers more and more for house plants, as I think they're offering better selections, and even surprise me with reasonable prices. Or they can even shock and embarass me with low prices like a Philodendron 'Birkin' 3" pot for $5, or a Calathea lancifolia 3" pot for $4. Also I agree the local plant societies are boundless sources of information and plants and friendship; when I lived in a warmer zone, I alternated among one-year memberships in the Bonsai Society, Hibiscus Society, Chrysanthemum Society, Camellia Society, and Orchid Society. Thanks Devin.
Great video. Have to say I would never guess you are 32. I was a first time purchaser from online sources last year. Nothing I bought has died. Yet! Lolol!!!
Hey Devin, love the haircut! My favorite mail order place for bulbs etc is Brent and Becky’s Bulbs. One thing you must get for your outside garden is Bletilla, or ground orchid. I got mine years ago from them ( ‘Yokohama’) and it has increased and done well. I’m in central NJ, now designated zone 7. Good informative video, thx! 🌿🌱🌵
Loving this video! My local plant greenhouse is having a customer appreciation weekend this weekend. 20% off house plants and macrame holders and pots. Yes, I went crazy in there. This place is bringing in more and more rare plants. Expensive, yes, but big and healthy. I get so sad when I go into a big box store or Walmart and see the condition of their plants. But, I do buy from them too. I did buy from an online company in October. So happy with my order. Waiting until warming weather to buy from them again. Happy gardening everyone.
Since you are in PA, I recommend Mostardi Nursery in Newtown Square, Ken’s Gardens in Smoketown, and Just One More Plant in Quakertown. I have found great plants in those places, especially the last one. Thanks for the great info!
I'd have to agree with you, Devin. Some of my filler plants are from both Home Depot and Lowes (up here in B.C.) however the unique oddities do come from my local greenhouses. Always enjoy your videos. Cheers! Darryl
Recommend the Garden Answers Laura on utube. She grew up helping her parents garden center. She has been doing utube over seven yrs. Book of knowledge . Now has a large piece of property in east oregon and videos there daily. My plant purchases have been iffy so far. There is a garden center not far that has a lot of plants and green houses but costly. Ive only bought couple plants there. Tho want alot of them. There is a garden center 40 min away but i had a bad experience over the plants not being priced. NOONE should have to run around asking for prices. Alot more plants would get bought if they were priced!!
Hi Devin! I ordered amaryllis bulbs from Brecks for the first time this year and was so eager to see the papillon variety bloom. Unfortunately all three bulbs sprouted up with leaves instead of flower stalks! I was so sad. Any idea why that would happen? My bulbs from other sources came up and bloomed.
Ok so I'm super excited but yet extremely leery. I just received an order of Rubber Tree Seeds. I'm going to plant them and see. Do you have any experience or knowledge about this endeavor?
I'm not trying to put a negative on your vid, as I liked it, but it sort of pisses me off when RU-vidr's talk about buying from oversea's and NEVER talk about how much they had to pay for shipping or import taxes, or how long it took... So, come on man. When you mention overseas purchases, PLEASE mention all the other costs involved with bringing them home.
