I owned a hot dog stand about 5 years ago. We eventually sold nothing but Hatfield hot dogs after featuring almost all of the top sellers local and national. Customers told the story. This was a Boston area business and we were able to get Hatfields from the Restaurant Depot. Sadly, they stopped importing them from PA and we could not get anything that could replace them, and we closed the business shortly after. Hatfield did not seem to care, as we asked them if they could supply us through any vendor that could ship to Boston.... Sad.
All of these dogs look delicious. Best of all, NONE of them were subjected to the cardinal sin of American hot dogs, that is, to split, slice, partially cut, bisect or butterfly, spiral cut, or any other way to disfigure by breaking the seal of the dog before during and after cooking! Somebody needs to tell those culinary cook wanna bes that hot dogs need to be popped snapped open only in your mouth with each bite, not by the cook to make it broil faster.
I love hotdogs, regardless of toppings, and where I get them. Coming from Massachusetts however, I abhor side split buns. It's top split buns only. I actually buy my buns online from a vendor in Maine, who will ship anywhere.
