Thank you, this was super helpful. But I do have 2 questions if you don't mind helping me with. 1 - When filling the title, should I detach the superior part and give to the purchaser only the "rest" of the title, correct? 2 - Once the sell is set and done, can/should I keep the plates to myself? Thank you again.
You can tear off the top section if you want. You don’t have to take your plates but you certainly want to complete the notification of transfer. Thanks for watching!
Great video! Any tips on selling a car with a lien? Not upside down or anything, just have small balance left. Just want tips on putting the buyer at ease since I won’t immediately have the title. Thanks!
That can be tough because people are quite fearful of getting scammed etc. that being said if there’s any way you can pay the lien off before you sell I would do that. If you can’t, I’d just tell the truth. Maybe call the bank with your buyer there and let them hear you talk to the bank and ask them How long until the title arrives etc. that way they have some reassurance you’re legit.
@@buxtonautosales Thank you very much. That’s how I was leaning but wanted a pros point of view. Disclose that it has a lien and offer to meet at the bank branch to pay it off. My bank offers notarized lien satisfaction letters so hopefully that’ll help put their mind at ease.
No you have to send it in to the address on the top of the form or do it with the website listed. The tax office people don't handle that for whatever reason.
Yes. Exactly the same or the county may say it’s a different person and send you back to them with an affidavit of fact. Like my legal name is Thomas I would have to sign Thomas even though I go by Tom and everyone knows that’s the same person the county does not.
You will sign your name as the company is not a person and then provide the buyer a business card or quick note on company letter head and you’ll be good to go.
Thanks for the video. I have some cars to sell that have been sitting in a garage for years. I am not sure where the title is! How can I get a copy of the title for these cars? Thanks
If you are the registered owner of the vehicle you can file for a certified copy of title. I have a video on how to do that. If they are not in your name you would have to file for a bonded title to get one in your name. I’ve got a video for that too.
@@buxtonautosales thank you very much for the quick response! I am the owner for 2 of them, one was my mother’s who passed away. Do you happen to have links, if not I can search. Thank you!
No problem I just happened to be up and checked my new comments. I don’t have the links but there’s a little search icon on my channel that’ll get you there. If one was mom’s and she passed a way you can sell that one using the Affidavit of Heirship form rather than a bonded title. I have that video too.
Great video! Quick question, if the title has both my wife and I's name on the title, do we both have to sign title and fill out forms? @buxtonautosales
I thought I addressed that - guess I need to double check and possibly make an updated video. Yes. And you both have to squeeze your names on to that small line. And you sign exactly as your name is printed on the front. Thanks for watching!
