We probably won’t visit Glacier for many more years, I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your content. You are very thorough and I love the new logo too.
Our family has stayed in all of the Glacier park lodges including a couple that you did not describe. My favorite is the cabins at Swiftcurrent inn because those cabins are the most affordable. Plus, you are right in the middle of some of the finest trails in our country.
Thanks for your video. We stayed in Glacier last September at the Apgar Village Lodge in a cabin and absolutely loved it. We also stayed the night at the St Mary Lodge on the East side of the park which was also lovely. The room there was amazing. We lucked out and found a room there by chance and it was an upgrated room ,wow. I also agree the Many Glacier Hotel is absolutely gorgeous, we did not stay there but did the boat ride and just enjoyed the view from the deck. We also did the Red Bus tour so we got to go twice. I actually met the park ranger that you had in one of your videos there. We thought if we ever went back we would like to go to the Prince of Wales hotel. Thanks for showing that to us. It does look amazing. As always, your videos are very helpful in planning your trip. We liked Yellowstone and Grand Tetons so much that we are going back this September but will save Glacier for a separate trip at another time. We loved it there too. Thanks again, great video.
You’re welcome Cathy! That’s so cool you met Ranger Linnea! She’s fantastic. Sounds like you did your homework and had a wonderful trip. Hopefully you’ll spot us in the parks sometime!
When my mom and I went to Glacier we were only there for one full day and spent most of our time at Two Medicine (Going to the Sun Road was still closed in Mid-June). We stayed in a hotel in Kalispell which is definitely a drive! Then again, we stayed in Jackson when we went to Yellowstone, so I guess that’s our trend. Lol 😆 Even though we didn’t stay at Lake MacDonald Lodge we stopped there to see the lake-it’s a huge lodge and looked really nice! Beautiful spot! I think I would definitely try to stay there next time… and go when Going to the Sun Road is open. 💕
Heading back in August and was going to stay in the park but didn’t because of no fridge and food situation because we stay out late. We did find a nice cabin on the road going right into Many Glacier with everything we need, next best thing to staying in the park.
I will not stay anywhere else but the East side of glacier. My favorite is the Many Glacier Hotel 2nd Swiftcurrent Motor Inn and Cabins 3rd St Mary Village. All of the best hikes, restaurants and especially more wildlife located on the East side.
I am impressed that your were able to get reservations at each of these Glacier lodges. As you noted, reservations must be made very early - like one year in advance. Our family has stayed at many of the different Glacier lodges. I actually prefer the relatively cheaper Swiftcurrent Motor Inn cabins without toilets.
Yes, we had to book well in advance. We also were also lucky and were able to get some last-minute reservations (2 weeks in advance) at a couple of them.
Once again guys, so envious of you both. Being from urban northern England. It's what I've always dreamt about since childhood. At 60. It's not going to happen unfortunately.
This is a really great video. I wish you had shared the cost of each room. I know prices will change as time goes by, but it would help a great deal to share the room prices.
Stayed at Swift Current Motor Inn last night (June 14, 2023). Wifi is spotty and only available in the lobby of the office where you go to check-in and out. Definitely no cell phone service. I stayed in a room (motel building) that had an adjoining room. The sliding doors (one on each side) between the two rooms had simply latches. Plus, there was a small gap between the frame and the door. I could peek into the other room via this sliver. Obviously, any loud conversation in one room would carry to the other. As for hiking, I did the hike to Iceberg Lake. It was raining and as I got up in elevation, it was sleeting. I did see two young moose on the way up and two Bighorn Sheep on the way down.
I visited Glacier NP 10 years ago but want to come back. We stayed at a motel on US2 for a couple of days and on say to we drove Going to the Sun Road, unfortunately on a foggy and rainy day. Out of the pzrk we visited Great Falls for our next stay.
Hi! Thanks for this video!! Is July a good time to go Glacier?? Also, are there grocery stores outside of glacier natl park? Also, are there vegan options at these restaurants? Thanks!! We want to go this summer! 😊
July is a great time to go to Glacier. There are no grocery stores inside Glacier National Park, but there are groceries available in surrounding towns. Browning has Glacier Family Foods, St. Mary has a small (but very expensive) grocery store, and you can find Costco and other large grocery stores in Kalispell, Columbia Falls, and Whitefish. Here is our video about food in glacier: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-t7jJ5UZba8E.html Here is an article about 9 Great Places to Eat in Glacier: wereintherockies.com/glacier-food/
LakeMcDonald Lodge is the one place I haven’t stayed, but I’ve visited it, twice, with the Jammer tours. If I had the means, I’d return to Glacier again and again and again and aga…
Clarification: Lake McDonald Lodge is the one I didn’t stay at within my sphere of planning. I always thought I’d return quickly, and broaden my scope, but….
We are staying at Many Glacier for a week in June. We have been watching all your glacier videos! Thank you! Question is there coffee in the hotel early morning? Or in the room
Thanks for sharing this! We live in Orlando, and are planning a trip to Glacier in the summer of 2025 for our son's high school graduation. Though we'll be traveling with our pop-up camper, we look forward to visiting and walking around some of these great lodges of the West. On a side note, we will be traveling with at least 2 kids and will be coming from the Black Hills area. Do you suggest camping on the west or east side of the park? I was thinking west, as I think there are more options, but was hoping to get your thoughts on that? Keep pumping out the videos! We'll keep watching! :) Also, love the new logo and would be excited about purchasing some merch in the future. All the best, and safe travels!
Hey Shawn! If I had to choose one, I would camp on the east side. There’s more to do and the camping feels more remote. But you can’t go wrong with the west side, either. Just makes it more difficult to get to many glacier.
nice to read someone from florida planning to visit glacier. i'm one of them. do you plan on yellowstone and/or grand teton as well? im aiming for probably 2026.
