I just got back from Rome and stayed at a hotel in Celio, 3 blocks east of the Colosseum. There were good restaurants nearby. Termini is known to be seedy. In fact, I avoided the area as a 73-year-old woman traveling solo.
74 woman and also travel solo. I stay just west of Piazza NAVONNA! Fabulous neighborhood. Very inexpensive (used to be) was “Charming Navonna”. GREAT restaurants close by!!
Wonderful, thank you. I stayed at a charming B&B very near the Vatican; it was booked through the Rome B&B Association in 2000. Hope to get back there again.
Nice, just booked first 5 nights in city rights at the center of Vatican and Colosseum etc.. It's hostel since I'm going to be out all day anyways. On other hand I'm planning last two days to be on nicer place on coast or some beautiful location outside the center to wind down after probably walking everywhere for almost a week ;D
Stayed at the Hotel dei Mellini in November , perfectly placed and very quiet with loads of restaurants a few minutes away. Great staff and really nice rooms.
I stayed at Lancelot, 3 blocks east of the Colosseum. I got 6 nights in a single for roughly $800. Breakfast is included and is very substantial. The staff are lovely. I booked in July for a trip the first week of April.
The area feels (and looks) a bit sketchy and seedy. There are plenty of pickpockets and fraudsters about (don't accept assistance from anyone trying to "help" you buy a train ticket). But "outright dangerous" it is not.
I’ve never had a dangerous encounter near Termini station. Pickpockets etc., yes! There are more than safe places to stay a few blocks from Termini as well……Anybody can wait in line for the tourist spots, but you have to experience the zoo of Termini and the metro for the full Rome holiday 😂
Congratulations on the video, it was excellent, Rome is a wonderful city, I hope to visit one day. I started a channel here on RU-vid recently and record in the same way here in Brazil. I signed up, I will follow you from now on. A big hug!!!
5 person family going to Rome in late September for 9 days - all adults. I went last year but the other 4 are newbies. Stayed in an apartment when my husband and I went the last time but need something larger this time. Any suggestions?
My Extra Home apartments in Monti, we rented a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, with full kitchen and living room for about a hotel room would've cost for the week. Nice place.
