@@alan-qx7oq exactly, If they broke sell the team and someone else can get them the stadium. Instead you got supposedly rich owners asking for welfare for a new arena. Next they’ll be asking to borrow peoples EBT card
Owners in Toronto said we will build a new state of the art NFL Stadium if we get a team. We are building a new stadium for the Blue Jays soon they said dome will be for concerts.
Detroit, Minnesota, Indianapolis have dome stadiums. Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Chicago, New York and New England have outdoor stadiums. Cities with cold weather in December. Pros and cons. But maybe a dome stadium can be used for other events.
you must be kidding--horrendous traffic/lake effect snow off Lake Erie etc--downtown would work if the city/state governments would help with the infrastructure/roads to get to it (but they won't)
@@RichV20 l agree , l live across from Detroit in Canada and hated driving 50 miles to the Silverdome even though the Lions aren't my team it is nice just to take a tunnel bus from Windsor and actually not worry how much I drink!
It definitely needs to stay in Orchard Park they should just renovate the stadium Lambeau Field did it there’s nothing wrong with the current stadium they currently have they just need to upgrade it.
@@davemckewan4450 That's not really the question any longer. There are cities willing to pay for new stadiums. Baltimore and Cleveland both loss teams and were doing backflips to get another. Keeping one is much easier than getting one. The taxpayers won't end up paying for the whole thing and neither will the owner.
So fed up with billionaire owners asking cities to pay for their palaces. An average family of 4 can,t even afford to pay for a game anymore 1970,s style. That is why the NFL now officially Sucks!
Aw cry cry cry. You arent paying a billion anyways its a few dollars each person. He already spent billions to keep the team there for your cheap ass and you didnt even thank him.
The people in buffalo are dumb f s if they got brains like you do. Bout the size of an ant. If you that jealous of succesful people why dont you get off your ass and get a job like the pegulas did?
It is optimistic to think they are staying in Buffalo at all. I hope they do, but every owner whether they admit it or not looks at those billion dollar palaces and thinks, "Hmmmm nice!" and I am not sure Buffalo is going to be able to make that happen.
The Bills...or any team in this situation...should sell bonds to cover the costs of building or renovation to cover what the public would owe otherwise.
Or do it the Cowboys way. Put it up for a vote. Only city residents to vote. If it passes, a one half of one cent sales tax at all points of sale within the city limits. The Cowboys and Rangers next door did it and paid out within a few years. They then reversed the sales tax to the old rate.
Well you can only renovate it so much. I say build a new stadium with a canopy roof like the Seahawks and Dolphins stadiums. And build it right next to the current stadium in that giant parking lot
The problem with St Louis's stadium, was it was built between two eras. the old ways of building a stadium the and modern ways of building a stadium. Both Jacksonville, Carolina and Washington was in the same boat when they built their stadiums in the mid 90s as well. And because of that these stadiums were already outdated after 5 or 6 years of existence. Not to mention their designs make it difficult to renovate their stadiums to modern standards without it costing a butt load of money to do it.
@@cashed-out2192 me too but I agree with that one guy, it's time for the bills to build a new stadium. By the time they renovate that stadium to look and feel modern they'll probably end up spending half as much as it would cost to just build a new outside staduim for 1 billion dollars. Is it worth it to renovate now when you might have to spend another 500 million in 15 years to renovate it again? Probably not. If this was a lambo field or a Superdome with a lot of historical value then, yes, but its not.
@@RhinoXpress The noose is tightening for the NFL and these sports teams. Does them no good to relocate. No other available markets are willing to meet their demands, in this COVID economy.
As long as the stadium was solidly built, stay there. Take a cue from The Red Sox and Cubs - and their facilities were built in 1912! Why does everything need to be the latest and greatest? Older stadiums have charm that the newer one's never will.
Buffalo Bills in a dome doesn't sound right . I'm used to seeing at least one snow game and really cold game every year , the Bills fans love the cold weather games just like the Vikings fans did at old Metropolitan Stadium. It was to their advantage and they were proud of that. I'm a big Cowboys fan and I want the Bills to stay in Buffalo. I've heard rumors of them moving to Austin but.traditional NFL teams should stsy where they originated the Bills have great and loyal fans renovations are the best option for them. I'm used to seeing them wear jackets and parkas and cheering on the Bills while I wear t-shirts. STAY IN BUFFALO !!
The NFL teams who renovated their stadiums in the 90's- KC, Chicago, the raiders moved back to renovated stadium in Oakland. KC seems fine. Chicago is making a lot of loud noise about a new stadium. Oakland moved to Vegas. So renovating should be off the table!! Build new! I love football in snow and wind. So make it open air!! Prepare for the Bills to St. Louis or Toronto blackmail threats by the team if they don't get what they want. The NFL will loan teams money to build a stadium, I saw the Bills owners should pay at least $400M for any new stadium! No welfare for billionaire NFL owners!
@@Lawomenshoops Anything linked with Texas won't happen due to Jerry Jones. Don't take it seriously it's only gonna be Toronto, St. Louis, San Diego, London, or 2nd Chicago team in play.
Renovate, don’t replace. As a fan of the only team from a smaller market then Buffalo (Green Bay), more effort needs to be made to preserve and upgrade existing stadiums rather then replace them. Lambeau Field is proof of how it can work (Soldier Field is an example of how not to do it) Also Buffalo is the only city in the NFL that gets more snow then Green Bay, if you build a new stadium they’ll probably insist on indoor. Your most important home field advantage is lost
Highmark Stadium has had 3 major renovations since it was built (originally called Rich Stadium)--it's like putting more and more patches on an old tire--the team needs a new stadium
@@bufnyfan1 look at how many Lambeau has had. Look at how many Fenway has had for that matter It may seem like there’s nothing that can be done but that’s just not true
@@Mr.E723 Highmark Stadium has no character/historic value--a concrete slab built in the boonies outside Buffalo (Orchard Park)--there is no way you can compare it to Fenway Park in Boston or Lambeau Field in Green Bay--Highmark Stadium is a disaster to get to/has lousy sightlines and is in the direct path of any lake effect snow off of Lake Erie--always took me hours to get home from a game there--I had hoped the Pegula's would build a new stadium downtown but the rumors are that the city/state won't build the necessary roads/infrastructure to get to it--its irrelevant anyway-the Pegulas will build where they can make the most money and that won't be in Buffalo--if you look back to 2017 the Oakland Raiders were owned by the late Al Davis family-the city of Oakland/Alameda County were willing to negotiate a new stadium in Oakland/Richmond for them and the Davis family never even considered the offer and moved the team to Las Vegas anyway--simply more money to be made in Las Vegas--and I suspect the Pegulas will shop the team around to the city that can provide them the most chance of cashing in (I'm hearing Portland/Austin and even Toronto)
Owners continue to leverage their team staying in a city or getting a new stadium. Usually municipalities blink and give the green light for tax payers to foot part of the bill with no residual agreement (NFL team giving back % of proceeds). San Antonio, Salt Lake, and even possibly Toronto would be on the short list as a new home for the Bills.
Dear Buffalo There has been rumours speculating that your franchise is moving to my hometown Austin Texas but as a Austn Knight we are fine with Austin FC, Texas Longhorns A few minor league teams. So we respect your fan base bills mafia and it’s also growing in Austin you guys stay in New York and continue the tradition
If they build a new stadium, Buffalo/Erie County better stipulate that all residents of Erie County/Buffalo get tix to one game a year. Im from Cleveland we got screwed over by the Browns and Cuyahoga County/city of Cleveland for renovations.
Put a partial translucent roof. Then add amenities such as more exterior and interior structures, lighting, landscaping, more restaurants and fixing restaurants. No need to relocate. $300 millions instead of +1 billion price tag.
"Public sector funding" aka corporate welfare for billionaires that could afford it themsleves but instead force the fans to pay for their own stadium that theyll have to pay to enter.
Highmark stadium (originally Rich Stadium) was originally built in 1973 (~48 years ago) and has undergone at least 2-3 multimillion-dollar renovations--there is only so many renovations that you can do--clearly the Bills need a new stadium-the problem is that the Buffalo areas population has been declining and the tax base simply won't be able to finance something like a new stadium (the city of San Diego even held a referendum for citizens to agree to a sales tax/hotel tax to try and build a new stadium and it was rejected and the Chargers moved to LA) I think the local/state governments of NY will do whatever they can to help finance this but Oakland/San Diego/St. Louis all lost their NFL teams so I don't know how Buffalo can come with a revenue stream to pay for this
Browns and Lion fan here I just hope the Bills stay in NY. I don't want any team not even the Steelers to go through what me and north east Ohioians went through. Love from the rubber city Bill's fans.
To the league that wants to preach about social equity, how about you stop holding cities hostage, and taking away valuable tax dollars that could be used to make the very changes you say you want to see. But that would mean you could only talk out of one side of your mouth.
@Mr. MERCEDES 95 were have you been? This has been going on for decades by numerous owners. In Cleveland, in Houston, in Oakland, and St. Louis, just to name a few.
I think having the weather be a factor in late-season games is part of the character of Bill football. An open-air development seems to be the best option. The bills are not the wealthiest team, but I do not think the city and state should have to foot the bill. The team, city, and state should contribute. There are many NFL open-air stadium designs out there from teams that operate in northern states. They don't have to reinvent the wheel and one-up everyone like Dallas, LA, or Vegas. They just need something functional that can serve as a home for the team for the next 30 years and generate some decent gameday revenue.
Demolish half and rebuild add suites press boxes and new locker rooms with the upper deck having a partial covering and a atrium style entrance like Lambeau Field basically add wide concorses on each side and an field outside the stadium using the old turf for pre game use/community use. Pricing $300-500 million Funded by the other 31 teams the NFL, the Bills and the state along with a tailgating parking fee of $5 and tickets from security of $30 for doing it in the wrong lot and not having the tailgating permit along with some tax that's not from tobacco, liquor or gas basically a lodging and general sales tax for the surrounding counties the closer the higher the tax so it might be a half percent near the stadium and a quarter or eighth further away.
The good news for Buffalo fans is that there really isn't a big threat of them moving. There isn't a city without an NFL team that has a great stadium or is willing to fork over a huge amount of money to build one.
Explain why. If you aren't driving away any of the multiple thruway/expressway routes, there are multiple mass-transit options to move you away from the Downtown stadium as well.
Same. It would be great for the city of Buffalo, but for fans and location it probably wouldn't work. The downtown area just needs more attractions, period. Need to give more reason for people to go downtown, which would help out existing businesses and create opportunity for expanding new smaller business.
Move to Oakland. There is a perfect good 50 year old dual purpose stadium that is soon to be vacated by A's .. just get the naming rights from the raiders and let Vegas have the bills name!
Build it in Niagara falls look how easy it would make the Canadians to come over and spend money 💰 There always showing you Niagara Falls on the bills game Look at the view they would have it would help the city of Niagara Falls clean it up
You could always ask a little more for tickets to games. Bills tickets are not very expensive in comparison to other teams prices in the league. I don't live in buffalo so I have no idea what taxes are like, but would the city residents consider helping pay for a new stadium in their taxes? Just a couple ideas.
Save money and don't add a dome or retractable roof! Lambeau Field is older than Buffalo's stadium, and in a smaller market, and it underwent renovations and the fans aren't complaining about needing a new stadium. Don't try to be like Las Vegas or Dallas and pump unnecessary money into it. As long as the stadium, new or renovated, serves it's purpose, do the best you can and the fans will be there every Sunday in the fall/winter.
Syruffchesto Bills. 2 games in Syracuse. 2 games in Buffalo. 2 games in Rochester. 2 games in Toronto. Problem solved. Everyone is happy. They can play a preseason game in Albany or Erie and one in Utica or Hamilton ON. Spread the wealth.
In regards to public contribution, how about zero costs to the public, or we could tax single mothers when they purchase school clothes for their children ?
We're right back to where we were before the Pegula's bought the Bills. Talk of the team moving if they don't get their way. Ok, well move then. I will save a lot of money every year. I'm sick and tired of that being the talking point. For the last 20 years that's been the position. They even spent several years playing a game in Toronto screwing the season ticket holders out of a game. The fans love the Bills but this area is economically depressed. Most can't afford double or triple the prices for a ticket or PSL's/Season Tickets etc. Not one thing has been done to show the fans that the Bills, Pegula's or the NFL gives a rat's ass about the fans. It's all about lining their pockets.
@@Mustafa777. No, but I gave up my season tickets and watched on TV. Priced themselves out my ability to pay for them. Now they'll do it again. Just watch. And they're striking now while the team is good. Lets see how the Erie County taxpayers respond when their property taxes jump up significantly to pay for a stadium that most people never go to.
I mean spending 500 million on a renovated stadium like they did in miami cost a lot less than spending nearly 2 billion dollars on a new stadium. So......
Is it possible for the city of Buffalo to keep/retain the Bills name, history, retired numbers, etc in Buffalo & sell the team to a new owner & have them move & resurrect in the XFL? I hope that happens. I want that to happen to my Raiders. I want them back in Oakland & I hope the city of Oakland gets them back one day & bring them back in the XFL or USFL or something.
@@marka.graffakasnakebitenat3736 Or maybe they need like all the other cities to build more hospitals and health care to take care of all the sick people, instead of pompous football and basketball stadiums and arenas.
It sounds counter-productive, but the people of Buffalo are fortunate in that essentially all its professional sports teams are owned by the same people... it ensures that the team isn't going to move unless the owner is willing to not only sell the Bills to allow them to move, but also sell the Sabres and every other sports property owned - because if Pegula allows the Bills to leave (even by selling the team off)? The people of the Buffalo market won't ever give him another dime.
Yeah, that is the way it is with these NFL cities. Chickens come home to roost only when the stadium costs and plans become apparent. They can't build new stadiums every five years, like Atlanta. Dallas, Seattle, or Los Angeles..And the longer they put it off, the more the costs keep rising.
