@@LeoVargas94Oficial Yes, and by the way...Their was a revival in the late 2000's under the name Temptation. The version down under was much better in the Temptation incarnation.

If they recreate this game, they should keep the villains at they are.

NBC getting back into the business of airing morning games shows? I'm sure Al Roker and Hoda Kotb would love that.

indeed with so many studios CBS 33 has been used for so many shows throughout the years but that's so cool you got to see a show there

@@WinkMartindaleGames Wink I went to see in the same studio the pilots for Barry Enright's "Double Cross" and in the same studio a game show pilot for "Initial Reaction". Sorry both didn't sell. Double Cross was like Joker's Wild.

Yeah with pilots they would use actors and audience applause tracks. They wouldn't be aired which is what makes seeing these a treat! How they differ between pilot test and actual series

This show would actually do better today with all the technology. The 80s would have ushered in cheaper television screens a la Tic Tac Dough's ability to handle computer screens and fonts/easier to have images and clues.

@@VectraQS In contrast, Tom was VERY enthusiastic as host! Too much so IMO, shouting out literally every question in the whole show was overdoing it to say the least. That by itself made getting through it kinda tough, and I say that as someone who respects Tom and his work a lot.

@@VectraQS That is true in the earlier episodes of "Soap." In later episodes, Rod's actually closer to his game show announcing persona. It's no coincidence that the change began when he was announcing for "Whew!" There are a couple of episodes of "Soap" from 1979 where one of the characters watched a game show. Rod announces in his "Soap" voice "You can win..." then switches to his game show voice "...A NEW CARRRR!"

Yeah he was so subdued that I thought it Bob Hilton for a minute.

"Whew!" is the only game show in which the title is an interjection.

@@jrjgames LOL. Well I love game shows and I wouldn't even buy this show. I just don't believe the numbers would be there. Hopefully you deal with nicer people at the the networks than me.

With the intelligence I see in the streets these days, I'd be shocked if the layman could even solve a board with 20 numbers.

I'm guessing CBS wanted a big money game show for their daytime lineup. Also, by this point, while players still retired at $25,000, they were allowed to keep up to $35,000.

I have a feeling they were supposed to do that in game 1, but the contestant forgot to call for it, so they had to go with what they had.

Although I'm not Wink, in a pilot episode, the contestants are paid actors/actresses, so the production staff simply assigns them the role. It's an acting salary to act as the contestant; they don't get any of the announced prizes. This is so the networks can see the show in action when choosing to buy it and place it on their lineup.

This pilot was taped in December 1978; the series premiered, though, in April 1979.

@@WinkMartindaleGames Well at least they have a channel where people could enjoy the show. Otherwise it's just going to collect a bunch of dust like Jack Clark's Crosswits and a hundred other game shows that will never be seen again. Networks barely want to revive a successful show like Tic Tac Dough. Slim to no chance of reviving a show that was on life support for a year.

@@WinkMartindaleGames Absolutely right Wink! Don't sell it outright, but hopefully you can lease or contract it out in some venue. Please just let us see it! I'm THRILLED that you confirmed that every episode exists. So many game shows from the 70's were wiped simply because videotape was reusable. Thank goodness this show was not. This show broke ground by being the first network game show to break the fourth wall by showing all the cameras and lights on the wide bumper shots. I love that. Now of course every show does it. I was 17 when this show aired; my teacher in 11th grade was so cool she let us watch it in the classroom for our media studies class. She obviously knew a great production when she saw one!

Was going to say... Wink's quite the good producer in and of himself. He can probably do a better job than that flashy Fremantle stuff.

@@WinkMartindaleGames I don't mind you keeping these things from being sold off to someone bigger, sometimes we need a little competition.

It's not hard at all. The challenger decides to block or charge in Round 1, in Round 2 they switch and if Round 3 is necessary, the champion chooses whether to block or charge. The blocker places 6 blocks with no more than 3 on any level except level 6 which s/he can only place one block. The charger has to call a level and amount, if they get the blooper there's one word that's wrong and s/he has to fix it, if a block comes up, the charger is stopped for 5 seconds. A correct answer or if there's nowhere else to go advances a level, an incorrect answer keeps the charger on that level. If the charger climbs the 6 levels in time, the charger wins. If the time runs out, the blocker wins. If the charger is about to lose, s/he can call "Longshot" which must be said before the clock hits zero. The longshot can't be said if you're already on level 6 or during the time the charger serves for a block, but can be said any other time. The blocker puts an extra block on level 6 and the charger has to pick one of the three amounts. If a block comes up, the blocker wins, if the blooper comes up and the question is answered correctly, the charger wins. If the blooper is answered wrong, the blocker wins, hence the name "Longshot". The winner gets all the money from either correct answers or the blocks they placed, and two out of three rounds wins the game, and goes to the bonus game. The bonus game is a simple "Answer 10 questions in 60 seconds" round with 1 second added for every $100 won in the main game. Easy. This game show aired when i was 7 and I understood the rules.
