Zonk to those complaining that they’re manual only. I daily drive an S2000 and I will never wish that it was auto. Just buy a second car or learn how to drive stick.
Yes It's Me that’s a bad way to think, you shouldn’t get a car just for the displacement, the materials, reliability, and gas mileage will always trump that of a v8, American V8 at that
Hey Raitis ride!! just posting here because I got the 2019 civic Si black and your video encouraged me to drive manual again :)) It has a nice kick to it 😄
I have 19 civic touring coupe and honestly think it looks better than the type R. Much more subtle styling but still more aggressive lots of lines instead of multiple spoilers and plastic crap
@@jmoz9305 haha your trippin, no way a touring coupe looks better than a type r. It doesnt even look better than an Si....non-si coupe looks ugly af with no wing
I've had my 19 Si for a year now. I might just buy the Ktuner and tsp tune just to fix the rev hang. I've held off on the tuner because I bought my car with 3 miles and I don't want to have to replace my clutch , seeing how the car is only 1 year old.
He didn't enter the back seats of the coupe. I wanted to see his reaction. But at the end of the day, we all can expect what tall people are going to feel like. 🤐🏁
@@RaitisRides Right, you might as well need a towing truck to get you out of there, buddy. Don't worry, next time around I'll let you sit on the right passenger front seat. 🏁😬👍🏻
@Raiti's Rides, hey man just for tidbit info. @ 1:09 when you're explaining the headlights, for some weird reason in Canada has full LED headlights while in states the full is only for highest trim.@ 6:20 that vacuum cleaner exhaust according to PR Honda USA was supposed to look like the outline of an 'HDMI' output shape, whatever that means...
It is really interesting how you guys in Canada get more features then the same models here in the States. It is the same thing with the Type R. I guess I can see where those designers are coming from.
Was choosing to buy my first car ... it’s either the Honda Civic sedan or coupe , this video help me a lot . I made the decision that if I were to choose a normal standard car, I would have went with the sedan but if I were to choose based on SI , obviously I’d go with the coupe . In the end , I went with the si coupe black
Sorry but those fake rear vents are such a turn off, I saw in person in person other day and you can see it from so far away, I don’t get why companies do this, it doesn’t make the car look better
The only version of this Si worth buying is the coupe. The rear bumper is so hideous on the sedan. I'm also not a fan of the mirror cam. It's not needed, imo. I would trade off that camera for more padding inside. I have owned both generations of the Si before this version and I'm hesitant to buy this one due to the problems Honda is having with oil dilution. If they can figure it out, I'm sold on the coupe. Honestly, what other car that's going to come with that much power AND active suspension damping for $25k??? The car is a bargain. The car is fun and quick. It's not fast. If you want blaring speed, spend another $15k and get a GT Mustang. Other than the oil dilution issues, I can't find any other faults. Great mileage, quick engine and one of the best manual transmissions on the market on any brand. Curious what the mid cycle refresh will look like. Hopefully they focus on that sedan bumper.
@@soultaker840 it's a real issue with all turbo direct injection engines. The problem is gasoline getting down into the oil crankcase, especially when it's really cold outside and/or you make short trips and don't give the car time to warm up properly. If you want your engine to last, do NOT rely on the maintenance minder to tell you when you should change your oil. Change it at the 5,000 to 7,000 mile interval. No longer. Use high quality full synthetic oil. And when you start the car, do NOT let it sit and idle to warm up. Crank it and drive it. That's the fastest way to get the engine up to running temperature. Idling a cold engine causes the gasoline blowby worse than anything else. And check your oil at every fill up. If you notice your oil level climbing higher on the dipstick at each fill up and you haven't added any oil, that means it's getting diluted. Change the oil asap if that happens. Follow that and you'll be fine. I have to do this with our 2017 Escape with the 2.0 Ecoboost. 57,000 miles in and she runs great. Stay on top of it and it'll last you years and years.
Great review, one thing that would make this video better is to have a side by side comparison of different angles of the outside of the two cars. A view of the rear side by side, then a view of both cars standing exactly at the front, etc. Anyway, great job with this video, it shed a light on the differences between sedan and coupé versions, thanks a lot
I heard these "Earth Dream Technology" engines deliver the fuel with so much pressure that it causes reverse blow-by and gasoline gets into the oil and dilutes it which can cause your engine to wear out faster. But since they only use full synthetic, the best thing to do is simply change your oil every 5,000 instead of 7,500-10,000 and you should be all good. Great detailed review. If I'm ever a passenger in the backseat of a vehicle, there's nothing more annoying than trying to get in the back seat of a coupe. If you never plan on driving around with more than 1 person get the coupe. Otherwise get the 4 door. Your passengers will thank you.
Nice, I got the 2018 si red sedan for my wife...its the best si ever made so far. It's super torquey compared my my 2014 si...i can't wait to flashpro it when the warranty ends, it's suppose to get around 270t to the wheels, my wife gets 40mpg cuz women drive very slow.
The 2006 Si only had a coupe, 2007 was the first year for the Si sedan in the states but I believe there was a Si sedan in Europe and Japan before that maybe 2005.
Bad news is my 2015 modern steel metallic Si coupe got totalled last year. Good news is I bought a 2020 black Si coupe last weekend. Anyone badmouthing this automobile is seriously delusional. This is a terrific car, top to bottom.
Honda could do themselves a favor and consult you on model changes. My take: 1) The tach pointer is too small to read quickly. Convert to the big LED sweeping bars scale used on TFT motorcycle screens. 2) I'll take a $1K deduct alternate for a mechanically simple F.I. I-VTECH 2.4L engine. OK, 1st gear is not as good as the turbo, but I want the high rev music above 4,000 RPM on back roads. 3) Take out the Atari buttons altogether on the steering wheel, just give me cruise control buttons. $100 deduct. I'll wait for now. Raiti's Rides Rules!
I am really interested in the Civic Si but does the clutch / transmission can take 300-400 HP without replacing it ? Also im having a tough decision on choosing between the WRX STi or the Civic Si
A couple years back when I was an engineer for Honda, I rented out the 09 si and it was incredible. The gear shift feel was on point, the clutch placement was perfect for heel and toe and the 2.4L NA engine was a blast. I had so much fun driving it, that was the only car I rented out from Honda. I had a new respect for Honda. I test drove the 2018 si expecting something similar but was left shocked at how watered down it was compared to the old one. The pedal placement made it hard for heel and toe and the clutch pedal had no feel to it. That being said the shifter was excellent like the old one. I didn't enjoy the new turbo engine because it felt like it ran out of breath early and exhaust note wasn't great. All things being said, the new one is a very civil and reliable car and I think you can't go wrong if you choose to buy one or not. Drive one and see what you think.
Great review. Honda should have you look over the prototypes before going to production. The armrests are so important to those of us looking to start families which means road trips in the sedan.
I grew up with the Atari too lol. I actually have my working Nintendo still hooked up and was just playing Mario 1 and 3 the other day with my cousin. I really want this car in Crystal Black Pearl.
5:47 I agree...I love the sedan but I hate the rear bumper vents. I prefer the rear bumper on the coupe more. Hope theres an aftermarket rear bumper available.
I love that you're so fucking detailed man. I've always wondered what Si meant and now I know. I'm still confused on the definition of Touring. I'm getting a 2016 Civic Touring next week. Thanks again bro! Keep up the good work. I subscribed 👍
Touring is their heaviest trim with emphasis on luxury. It's got all the plush plush foofy stuff in it. Sunroof, leather electric seats, all the little high tech sensors, blind spot detectors, automated everything, screen gauges instead of the needle from the lower models, same screen system as the Si but instead of red it's displayed in a light blue surround. It is only available in automatic. It doesn't come with any of the aesthetic exterior accessories like the under body trim or the sideskirts and lips and spoilers, so other than the sun roof and fog lights it will look like the lowest model on the outside. Then the engine only has 170hp as it lacks the exhaust, different turbine and fuel management settings in the computer.
Anything with the word "Touring" in the car world is speaking to endurance as in "long distance rides". So it means comfort, luxury, sitting back, relaxed. pampered. etc
@IMxYOURxDADDY evidently it's due to the fuel cutoff and Rev hang. If you tuned that out then you could reach 60 in second gear more than likely and hit 6.0 flat or high 5s
@IMxYOURxDADDY well some guys have gotten 370/400 XoX and being a 3200 lb car. I'd imagine 5 seconds flat on a good sticky road. Maybe mid-high 4s. Pissing Bmw/Benz owners off for sure
I enjoy your reviews and I was happy to see that you showed the two trunks but was very disappointed to see no comparison of the back seats. That's basically the only real meaningful difference between the Sedan and Coupe and I feel you missed an opportunity here.
Neither, because there's a known emission system problem that they're doing nothing about aside from just resetting the warning. So happy I haven't had a brand new car for 3 months and it's already having issues.
May you please elaborate? I have a 17 coupe and im tuned, catless dp and more. If you want check out my channel i just got my car wrapped! Or my ig @mvrkfc3 . Im curious to see what emission problem there is
@@FORSAKENGARAGE theyve recently released a recall to update the software that was causing the issue. Solved it for me, should take care of it for everyone else too.
Moved from St. Pete 8 years ago to Ohio, upsetting to see you without a jacket on! Very good video, I have a 2011 LX that I drive to Florida from Ohio every December (16-18 hour drive straight) and she does great. Only takes $50 in gas each way and isn't uncomfortable as you would expect. One day I'll upgrade to an Si, for now I'll keep my little silver slug til she's tired.
Raiti's Rides I watched it because I wanted to help you more than the content itself. Since I'm not into Civics at all, I mean you're better than many car reviewers but as I said I wanted to support you just more.
Go coupe! It's a great choice and you can't go wrong with it. Yeah, getting people in is gonna be an extra 30 seconds but the space inside is identical. The sedan does have about 2 more inches of headroom due to the coupe's fastback design. Other than that the sedan has a bit of extra trunk space which makes up the majority of it's extra length. People say having more weight on the rear (sedan) is good but people also say a lower center of gravity (coupe) is good. The differences are miniscule. But the coupe looks infinitely better in person. It stands out as a nice car, but the sedan doesn't.
My mom owns the 18' civic sport hatch back, i feel like they shouldve made the sedan hatchback the SI, it looks way better than the regular sedan in my opinion
Between this two, I’ll go with the coupe. If it’s a four door, I’ll go with a Type-R. Also, red badge all the way, anyway to get rid of the chrome will be good. Also, what’s with Honda with the funky exhaust tips, Jesus! Great video Joe 👍👌
Love my 2017 Civic Si, i have that Pearl White love it... I totally agree with you a inregards to those cloth armrest on doors and center armrest... fun to drive...
Keep up the great work! I just moved to Denver and the traffic is nothing compared to the DMV. I am considering of getting this car as my first manual car and you sold me on the sedan. I have a large dog and I am planning on getting another one so the coupe won't do justice haha. The only question that I have is does the car have a lot of rev hang? Thanks again!
Cant wait to see how the civic looks for 2020. On another awesome note though if you're trying to pick up a nice amount of asian chicks, sedan it is. If you just need one or need less weight as possible or dont really like having people in your car, coupe it is. Matter of fact they should make a one seat style vehicle cause i would be all over that lol. Hopefully for 2020 there will be no more fake anything on or around the vehicle. If it has no use it should not be on there. I hope honda watch videos like yours to see what direction to go with it.
Those black pieces at the front and rear bumpers destroy the look of these cars. I would have to force myself to get the black color if I get this car which I'm not a big fan of. Everything else is great though. I would get this over the BRZ/86, GTI, etc. if they fixed the exterior.
I'm really debating...if I should get the a86. Or the si...or the type r. I really want the type r. But I'm a bit on a budget. But that type r is it worth it? Nice video thanks for this work
That's a tough choice! I feel the the 86 is more of a driver's car in the way it handles and drives. The Type R is quite a bit more. Have you drive the SI & 86?
@@RaitisRides Thanks for the response.. no I have not driven an 86. I'm not a big fan of Toyota. But this car looks and handles great. Just not fast. I wreck my 15 civic si. So now I'm looking for another car.
If it helps I had a brz I recently traded for the SI. Brz is fun... A lot of fun... I didn't want to even look at the SI. I only drove it to tell my self I didn't want it. It was amazing... Everything I loved about the brz. Didn't miss rear wheel drive.... The SI has handles and it's a lot faster than brz. Also will hold it's value way more than the brz did. Also, people can actually fit in it. I got the 4 door. It's such a sleeper.... And I have all the modern comforts!!! Get the SI. U won't be disappointed.
Now that my brand new GTI is stalling and fix attempt number 3 probably will not remedy the situation, the SI is at the top of my list. Always enjoy your videos!
Well honestly HONDA is total trash, VOID my warranty saying I flashed my ECU when I never have touched it. Dealership does all the maintenance, but yet ive voided my warranty because I doubt a rod... i.d.c every mod on the car is cosmetic. Nothing is VOID, they won't show me evidence they just don't want to replace my motor.
Actually if you want the hatchback you can go with the Sport model. Also with the Sport if you get the Touring you get the LED headlights that the Type R has and you still get the turbo 1.6
jimmydaves correct CVT only and I’m right there with you, in fact I hate the CVT. Cannot stand them. But it’s a nice car, love the LED headlights on it. But I wouldn’t own one. I’m more of a truck and muscle car kind of guy
Bring back v-tech or I’ll trade my 9th gen for a Audi I swear I will do it! I need to upgrade but it’s a total ZONK on the turbo 1.5 . VTEC the best. I love VTEC. Also put in real carbon fiber the fake shit makes me wanna die.
25SuperAndroid not just an appearance package, from what I know, the suspension is stiffer in sport due to a different suspension, the wheels are lighter and are matte black they come in 19” inch, they come in a stickier tire set up, it has a front lip and side skirts that help with down force, has badging on the car and floor mats that come with it, and some other minor things
