Which Airlines Formed The Star Alliance? 

I love the fact that I can rack up mileage flying on partner airlines. I've accumulated (and redeemed) many miles taking ANA, Air Canada and United flights over the years.

I love Star Alliance. It’s good to mention that Avianca joined in 2012 and it’s 103 year old airline.

I just love Star Alliance. Been a customer over 6 yrs and nothing to complaint about it.

Star Alliance has certainly been a success for ease of codeshare travel, but is wanting in the ability to use accumulated frequent flyer points throughout the system. Some in Star Alliance are not good partners when it comes to points redemption, and that should be a main discussion in the Frankfurt boardroom !

I know LH & UA were the driving force behind the creation of the Star Alliance. It was actually based on their around the world fare. However, I'm not sure whether it was UA or LH who created the original idea ?

While you're on this topic, could you explain how exactly do alliances like the big 3 ones do? Like what's the economics behind codeshares and whatever?

i also prefer Star alliance,firstly because Turkish Airlines,which i fly most is a member plus it has a wider network than other alliances covering all parts of the world.Collecting miles on the members is another advantage.

You forgot to mention that Avianca, member of Star Alliance, is turning 103 years old this year, second oldest living airline in the world, only behind KLM.

I have flown the most number of airlines in Star Alliance: Air Canada, Air China, Juneyao Airways (Connecting Partner), Shenzhen Airlines, Singapore Airlines, and United Airlines.

Air Canada, Lufthansa, SAS, Thai Airways and United!

I live in San Francisco and prefer Star Alliance, because SFO is a hub for United and I can use the miles from MileagePlus to fly any other Star Alliance member Airlines’ flights

All Of 3 Major Airline Alliances Or "The First Trio" That Formed In Late-1990s - Early-2000s Are The Best Airline Alliance Than "The Other Trio" That Formed In Mid-2010s.

As a air Canada 35k and soon to be 50k member, it is clear what alliance i fly on weekly.

I would prefer star alliance because I had flown with a lot good airlines that works with star alliance.

Star Alliance definetley has the upper hand over other alliances. It has the main airline in Canada and India, two major countries, not to mention Germany, Turkey, Greece, Switzerland, and one of China’s major airlines

Star Alliance all the way. My primary carrier is ANA and on routes not ANA, United and Lufthansa covers those routes.

New Zealand is a pretty remote place, and we’ve only got 1 national airline, so it works out quite nicely.

With the probably exception of the US, your alliance of choice is largely determined by where you live and which alliance your local carrier(s) belong to. I live in Australia so I am tied to Oneworld via Qantas and have no complaints with them.

After some horrible experiences with Lufthansa, I can only encourage people NOT to use this airline for long-haul flights. Undoubtedly influenced by the Green Taliban in its own government, Lufthansa seems to do its utmost best to make flying as a horrible experience as possible: limiting the weight of carry-on luggage (with United: they never weigh), offering drinks in unhygienic reusable packaging (United: they give closed metal cans + cup with ice if you want this) etc.

I always prefer airlines with cheaper price than alliance😁
