This is your first video I found when searching about Airline Alliances. I like your humor and analogy and your efforts into acting for a skit! Good call out that people can only benefit from sticking to an alliance if they travel 4-5 times a year across continents. Thank you for the very last tip in this video as well! Very refreshing

From this list MNL is served by Star Alliance more than the other two Skyteam and Oneworld Alliances. Although the non affiliated Philippine Airlines Mainline jet fleet resembles CX Oneworld Alliance founding member. Leading to this common comparison Philippine Airlines vs Cathay Pacific. Asking that question to a Taiwanese or Hong konger they see it as this CX (🇹🇼🇭🇰 spelling 國泰航空) > PR🇵🇭 (🇭🇰🇹🇼 spelling 菲律賓航空)

I would definitely use Delta for domestic travel. However, for international I would use Lufthansa or British Airways. This would allow me to fly premium on airlines such as Singapore Airlines and Emirates.
@beyounged

Then I would recommend you consolidate into one carrier that partners up with both, like Alaska. But also Singapore only releases first class to its own program, so it is nothing too special since you only get business class redeeming luftansa

thanks! may the algorithm gods favor everyone! I was debating about this as well. Swiss has okay-ish fares and great route network, but that incident of it cracking hard on any flighthacker on a ticket originating from Yangon really left a sour taste in my mouth. (they made a mistake, priced a flight lower than normal, when you show up for the flight they tell you you have to pay up thousands to make up their "loss", or they sue you, and they did.)

Haha well, you have not truly flied until you get a lie flat seat on a Cathay Pacific plane for the 90 minutes hop to Ho Chi Minh City!😝 Swiss has great product, but it is unfortunately a part of this Atlantic joint venture and European downward spiral. Intra-EU business class is laughable for any EU airline, you know that. Now crossing the pond is mostly dominated by basic economy tickets. And MM is just an okay program, unless you are HON😪

Very nice video. I live in New York and mostly travel to Sydney and Beijing to visit families. I’m currently United platinum but have been considering switching to one world. Which frequent flyer program would you recommend? Qantas or AA? Or you’d recommend something else?
@beyounged
@beyounged 2 года назад
Thank you for watching. So yeah you can definitely switch to Oneworld. I am working on a video about frequent flyer programs that can really help you choose, but if you fly a lot domestically in US, you should pick British Airways for the lounge access. If you just want cheap redemptions, do Alaska. If you want easiest status(but no lounge access domestically), do American Airlines. Also check out the video coming out soon to help you understand better!
@yangliu_6688
@yangliu_6688 2 года назад
@@beyounged very helpful. I’ll look into it. I rarely fly domestically in the US, I think AA might be a good option for me. I just think that United’s Australian routes are significantly more expensive than others and I’m a little tired of flying United all the time. Even the their Polaris seats are just too narrow and less spacious than their old business seats - can’t justify the price. One thing though is network as you talked about. I got a ton of points one year from flying business with avianca to Argentina (error fare)
@beyounged
@beyounged 2 года назад
You can still redeem the points for star alliance business class, while flying in oneworld on cash tickets whenever you can to earn status. As long as you do not fly domestically in US or China a lot, AA can be a good option. Make sure you buy tickets NOT issued by AA if it is a cheap one though!
@druiz012
@druiz012 2 года назад
@@beyounged cheap redemption Alaska? My wife and I want to start traveling more... I just posted a comment on your other video... I asked if I should join AA or BA FF program... but can we join Alaskan Airlines and get better redemption on partners or is it all the same on partners? We also have Chase so we collect UR points. Does that make a difference on which program we join?
@beyounged
@beyounged 2 года назад
@@druiz012 yeah Alaska is better, especially if you are in Portland. Alaska offers phenomenal redemption rate for domestic travel. You can do PDX-SEA, stopover, then SEA-YVR for 7500 miles, or SEA-PDX, stop for a few months, and then begin another trip to SFO for 5000 miles! Internationally it is a bit more restrictive, but you can still do PDX-SEA, then to Tokyo on Japan airlines, stopover for a few days, then to anywhere in Southeast Asia like Bangkok or Singapore for 65000 points in business class, Europe side it is not as good.

What alliance are you predominantly apart of? I travel to Europe a lot for work from Seattle so I do rack up the miles. And I do take personal vacations to eastern Asia(Beijing). I like the benefits of One World, but I feel like the wise choice for the sake of route network is best if I go all in with Star.
@beyounged
@beyounged Год назад
I mostly do oneworld. and that is the alliance that gives you the best rewards if you do fly business class and economy from time to time. others give you nothing if you fly business class. If you are patient and willing to position to other cities to catch cheap oneworld promotional fares, it is possible, and Seattle is getting bigger and more oneworld flights, so you should aim to try to do more business flying on them, and do leisure Asian flights in economy on oneworld and enjoy the benefits

This might a dumb question.. but how does the "frequent flyer" program work? Do i need to get credit card from one of the airline companies under the whatever alliance of my choice? Also, i've heard that you can earn miles and use them with other airlines under the same alliance.. how does it actually work??😬
@beyounged
@beyounged 2 года назад
I have a video on how they work, here it is: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GOjXThAzEhA.html No need for credit cards, usually cards that belongs to a bank program is better, such as Capital One, American Express, Chase, etc., but all of these are almost exclusive to USA. You can earn and use miles while flying or to fly on other airlines of the same aliance, it is also explained in the video I linked above. You literally just search on airline websites and click "use miles" and generally they will display options.

Otherwise, I am a member of 3 airlines membership programs that cover the 3 big alliances and pump the points into those when I fly.

Aerolineas Argentinas only focuses on having a great domestic connectivity and some regional flights, but for SkyTeam it won't increase its network allover Latin America as Latam does with many subsidiaries. Hug from Buenos Aires! Mateo

It is so sad that Avianca, LATAM and Aerolineas Argentinas are all struggling in their own ways, they could have helped putting south America onto the map much more than currently. So you're saying that Emirates doesn't belong to any alliances? How come I booked a flight from Australia to Brazil through Qantas and one of the legs was operated by Emirates?
@beyounged
@beyounged 8 месяцев назад
exactly. Alliance is just a broad cooperation among a set of loosely set coalition of airlines, but each airline can form deeper and more meaningful ties by signing special agreements, whether they are in an alliance or not, or even in rival alliances. Qantas works closely with Emirates on an individual level, no need for any alliance to facilitate that.

Useful information and if you're Oneworld emerald non AA/AS member followed by Star Alliance non UA Star Alliance Gold member you can actually use their lounges for domestic travel. In my case CX Asia Miles for AA/AS domestic mother and father SQ Krisflyer and Royal Orchid Plus for UA domestic. If your viewer is from the US they're better of using Air Canada Star Alliance gold because you gain United Airlines domestic lounge access.
