What a perfect time for two of your newest Bond Arms fans to find and appreciate this really informative video. My wife was so impressed with my Texas Defender, she picked one out for her birthday. It came in last week and we just had to stop by the range on the way home. These are some of the most fun and functional firearms we've ever owned! I'm so impressed with your high quality products and exceptional customer service (Thank You, Sydra!) I just ordered another Texas Defender in another caliber.
I'm so glad to read that testimonial. And I'll be sure to pass along your thanks to Sydra. Comments like these really make my day, and it's so great that you are thoroughly enjoying your new Texas Defender!
Mark: did you get one yourself ? if so, which model and caliber and (roughly) what was the cost ? (dbg in san francisco, ca.) please, no pity votes; you'd be here too if you grew up in the snowbelt of buffalo, ny ;)
@@trynagetbanned8483 California doesn't allow 410 Bore handguns. "All California legal handguns have specific CA legal barrels to use all of your favorite calibers with just 6 turns of a screw. Please note that the CA barrels will only fit the CA handguns, and the standard barrels will not fit the CA handguns. Also there are no 410 shot shell barrels available" (Bond Arms).
Thank you for this information. I have a Rowdy on order and expect it to arrive tomorrow or Friday. The market hasn't completely bounced back from the ammo shortage. I'm hoping to find some over the next couple of days. I'm in Fort Worth. Proud to have such a quality manufacturer near by.
Love my Bond Arms Derringer, I have 4.25" 410 barrel "riding shotgun" on my seatbelt and 3" 410 for pocket carry. Federal Premium Copper Plated 000 Buck in both.
I have never had any regrets buying my Texas Defender. With the right holster this is a really awesome carry backup Gun. Summer concealing is a breeze. My main carry is a Glock.
Nice video Gordon. I have a Texas Defender in 45 ACP that I got in about 2004. It is a pretty cool little gun. I can handle about 8 shots of standard pressure ACP before I have had enough. I put one Cor-Bon 200 grain +P through it once and that was enough. I agree with your reasoning about 45-70, that would be way to much IMO.
I had an issue with some light striking in my Bond Arms Roughneck 9 mm in the bottom barrel. Bond Arms had me send it in and replaced a couple of springs and now it runs like a champ.
Derringers are meant for point-blank range, so you load the top barrel with any 3 inch #4 birdshot, and the bottom barrel with 2.5 inch Federal handgun 000 buckshot. You fire the birdshot first, pointing at the face; that way you don't have to waste time aiming. You diminish and distract the attacker with that first quick shot, and likely blind them as well. Then you follow up with the buckshot. You want 2.5 inch buckshot, because they are higher velocity, since they're pushing less weight; which results in more penetration.
I did go shot my Bond cowboy ,357 .38. I love the gun it was easy to load and fire. I also ordered the .410 barel I just got today. I will say I love the quality. The gun is made in America. I still need to order the holster but I love the size and it would make a good concealed carry.
I was hoping they had a barrel in that arrangment also, maybe they do.by this video there is the 22mag and 22long but not sure in what combo.would be nice too just plink the 22long and have the 410 for defense or snakes, varmits ect.dont know there 22 setup though.so are you hearing us bond h.r.?snooky pa.(just got the rowdy n of course no ammo to get.dam!!!)
I have a snakeslayer and took it to the range to shoot one day with some 357mag. I shot about 3 rounds and that was all I could handle. When I came out of the back, a couple of guys asked me what I was shooting. It is rather loud with that 357mag round. I showed them my Bond Arms Derringer. They said they had heard about them but had never really seem one in person. I told them I had 3 barrels for it in different lengths and calibers. They were impressed. I told them to go next door to Academy and they could have one of their very own.
i load 45colt with 230 fmj or hp jacketed. max load of blue dot in a snake slayer 3.5. fanned from the hip ,i get basket ball size orange fireballs. loads of fun right at dusk. thanks for making a tank of a little gun. is one of my favorites.
I just bought the Cyclops in 45-70 and will soon buy the .44 mag barrel for it. I will also buy the .50 AE when it comes out. I guess you changed your mind since this video and I’m glad you did. Love your derringers, I have a few and a few extra barrels.
We did, indeed! When we discovered that we could 3D print a really tough resin in decent quantity, it allowed us to expand into the more brutal rounds. Back when we tested .44Mag, the recoil literally shattered wooden grips and ripped the rubber ones. But, technology eventually solved this issue, and we invented the B6 grip which isn't just tough, but also does a really nice job balancing felt recoil.
Fiocchi 410 always bulges....just don't cheap out on ammo an you should be good.....the pdx1 3 inch is my fav, 4 disks and 16 bbs....that's 20 projectiles in a single trigger pull...not bad lol
I have the Y2K century 2000, its the finest gun I have ever owned period and I have at least 21 different hand guns. Amazing quality and perfection in engineering!
Thank you for making such a wonderful Derringer no need to add any of those ridiculous rifle cartridges to a derringer. You offer plenty of choices for almost every situation you will encounter for social work.
Man, I've got to tell you. I am a pistol loving individual. I carry several different name brands and several different sizes of guns. I bought the rough and rowdy a few days ago and I am excessively impressed and I'm not that easily impressed. The little gun is pretty daggone accurate! It sounds like a cannon and I would not recommend ever shooting it without ear appreciation which is my only concern. I carry mine with a side draw holster just in case somebody is unlucky enough to try to carjack me. I think I'm going to have to keep my ear muffs really close by. That thing is a Canon! I'm probably going to order a longer Barrel so I can shoot the 3-inch 410 shells. I tell you, it's a lot of fun to shoot. I was Target practicing today and some of my gums are a little bit touchy. I had a PMR-30 and it just wasn't laying down rounds like it should have but then again, I didn't clean it the last time I shot it. I had a couple North American Arms pocket guns on me and I must say the 22 long rifle with the slightly bigger rubber grip is a Accurate Gun. My North American Arms 22 Mag is shooting a little to the left. I've got my rifle sighted in So Perfect I should be striking matches like Jed Clampett. I put my earmuffs on and walk down a little closer to the Woods with the rough and rowdy. I was on Target but I did not expect that kind of power. I only shot one two and a half inch Triple ought buck shot and the rest for cowboy loads of 45 Colt. I LOVE IT! Talk about a thrill. I can shoot it with one hand but it takes two for me to pull that a hammer back. I don't mind. I was considering buying a 454 Casull a while back. I'm not hunting elephant and if I were I could probably get one with that gun. I seldom buy any gun that I'm this pleased with Straight Out of the Box. Most handguns are a pain in the ass and you have to spend a lot of time cleaning them and figuring out which ammo works the best. These guns are simple but extremely robust. It's my favorite gun. Now if someone could just invent automatic ear plugs. I'm going to get on that right away😁. Thank you so very much for making a product that actually live up to the hype. I've got a lot of guns and most don't! I will recommend these guns to everyone I know I know a lot of gun shooting freedom-loving Americans.
I got a roughneck in 38/357. Then I bought a 10mm barrel. I should have gotten a 40 caliber. 10mm is a hand cannon and I shot 4 rounds. Heck of a gun for sure, and got a good deal.
I'm planning to get one of these honestly more for the fun factor than anything, so I'm planning on getting the 9mm version, since 9mm is pretty cheap and I generally have a decent amount of it on hand for other guns I own. May eventually get some of the other barrels as well.
@@BondArmsInc Yep, I don't mind picking up a gun I don't "need" from time to time. Recently got a Taurus Public Defender, no reason, just for the hell of it. Plus with Bond, I'm supporting a relatively local company(I'm up the road near Ft Worth)
Been considering one for concealed carry when i have to wear a suit. Small enough that it's not going to advertise itself but still a large caliber. Them board meetings can get rough sometimes.
I have 3 Bond Arms derringers in 22lr and 22 mag and no matter what ammo I use it hey always stick. CCI being my favorite but I’ve tried almost all the brands that my LGS carry. I don’t have that issue with either of my American Arms derringers ( small revolvers ). Still I like the Bond Arms guns.
This is one of many reasons we stopped producing the .22 barrels. They just run centerfire much better. However, we do plan to have .22LR for the Stinger and Stinger RS by the end of the year, so don't get rid of that ammo!
I just purchased one of the roughnecks in 38 special and right out of the box the round extractor was extremely loose. After tightening it the roughneck was almost next to impossible to open with rounds in it. If i fire the rounds and work with it, it is still to tight but will open. It doesnt matter what brand of ammo or even with new unfired brass it is still a bear to open most of the time. In fact it opens better with my reloads. This one slipped through quality control. I contacted them and they wanted pictures and a description of the problem and hopefully will get back with me but i cant believe they sent this one out.
We do pretty strict quality control in multiple steps to ensure this does not happen, but even we make mistakes from time to time. Has your problem been resolved going through customer service?
I eventually decided to go with the 3.5" in 9mm. Several inches of proper rifling should let it achieve good velocity and accuracy. I might get a 45 ACP barrel as well.
I think Bond Arms has a kick ass product. What I would like to see from Bond Arms is a light weight(artistically machined), long barreled derringer with recoil absorbing back-strap, I think this would be huge on the C.C. market. A 16 ounce 2 1/2" 410/45colt with a 4" barrel would be a market crusher.
I just got a Bond Cowboy .357 or .38. I look forward to trying this gun. I will be looking into buying a .410 barrel and a holster. I may use it home defence or target shooting. I love the quality and finish. I am a little nervous to shot the .357 for the first time. I will get the gun tomorrow and let you know.
Hey. Was kicking around an option you could add to your list. As all the derringers are the same blank. How about a laser holster combination. The laser would snap onto the barrel. And when extracted from the holster would activate. So any time it is clear of the holster it would be on. As they are short barreled this would help with shot placement over a longer distance. And would add so little to the size of the gun. This is an idea solely thought of by myself and I am not claiming any rights to it. I would like the ability to get something quality made and I feel others would appreciate it as well.
Cool idea! But, most ideas like this end up being developed and implemented after-market instead of by the producer of the original firearm. Our facility is geared for working with steel and lead versus leather and lasers. But maybe someone will develop this idea!
I have a .45 ACP Roughneck that is having light striking issues, occasionally with Aguila maybe 2/50. But with Winchester it's awful, maybe 2/10 rounds it just won't pop. I did buy it used, so it's possible the firing pin has just gotten dirty somehow, so I just gave it a deep clean, but there's definitely an issue with Winchester's lighter 45 ACP round.
I like the part where he says his company won't make a 45-70 or 44 magnum. Fast forward to the present and it's good to see a company respond to what customers want.
Times definitely change! When Gordon said that, we were pretty far away from the B6 grip which is 3D printed resin. Without a tough-as-nails grip that actually made the gun fun to shoot, we weren't going to do it.
Thank you. Your video is ten years old it worth watching. I’m looking at the new stinger but noticed there isn’t one for the .410. Will there be one coming?
The reason we call it "Stinger" is because of the sensation in your shooting hand. .410 isn't really on the radar because it would really be unpleasant to fire. 9mm is about as hot as we want to take it.
Nicely done video. Bond guns to expensive and bulky for my taste. But appear sturdy where cheaper ones break down after hard use and cheaper to buy another cheap one than fix.
I got the rough and rowdy for $300 here in Hawaii. Changing out the barrel really makes it a versatile gun. I do recommend getting aftermarket grips though. The grips they come with are good for concealed carry but on the range not so fun to shoot.
2 1/2 inch 410 Bore shotshells with 9 shot will pulverize any snake. Although 410 Bore shotshells are crazy expensive when available. The 45 Automatic cartridge in a 3 inch barrel would be handy and probably more accurate then the 45 Colt jumping to the short rifling in a 410 Bore/45 Colt barrel. I'm buying the 45 Colt only 3.5 inch barrel for my Bond Arms Snake Slayer. I just need more rifling than a 1/2 inch.
Very nice. Though I will warn on something you kinda said. The 45 automatic cannot be shot in a 45 Colt. It is rimless, and would get lost in the deeper chamber. But if that's not what you were getting at in your second paragraph, then never mind!
@@BondArmsInc I should have clarified I was talking about the 3" Defender barrel labeled 45 ACP. I would like to find a 3.5 inch 45 Colt only barrel, but it's impossible to locate for purchase. This would give me at least 2.2 inches of usable rifling.
Back when I was a child to teen I used the 410 killing all kinds of pests to birds, rabbit, far and close --- too long ago to remember what size per game but can attest that the wrong load will leave a wounded animal and the right one dead one. I shot a lot and used many loads but probably Federal or Remington Express & 3 inch, I used from 4-9 and could kill everything with any load although some were more challenging - best for snakes for most people 6-8 Ideal probably 7-8 loads...I'd try 7 1/2
Question: Mentioned in your video that you do not recommend +P loads, but if you have the .357 Magnum/.38 Special Barrel mounted, then you should be able to shoot a +P or +P+ .38. Am I right?
Unfortunately we shut down the public retail side of our business to focus on firearms, so it's really up to a clothing manufacturer to take over that kind of stuff. Ebay???
John Texas ,yeah the hammer on mine has a little play in it, but when cocked there isn't any play, doesn't really matter too much, but it would've been nice if it was tight like revolvers are.it may have been designed that way for the inertia of the hammer to strike the firing pins, idk.
No gun manufacturer would ever endorse the use of reloads….perhaps that’s because a very small group have abused reloading procedures and recommendations. With a gun that allows rounds to be loaded directly into the chamber like these guns, (Bond doesn’t like the term “derringer”), reloading allows a distinct advantage. if the recoil from standard factory ammo is too much, you can reduce the powder charge and make what’s often called a cowboy load. Always keep in mind, this is not a range gun. It’s a bad breath distance gun. If you’re shooting a snake….it’s probably a little more than a yard away. I would differ with Mr. Bond about filling a doorway from across the room. The dispersion of shot from a shot shell is much less than what is popularly believed. BTW, I have a Roughneck with both 9 mm. and 380 ACP barrels.
I love the derringers. Are yall gonna make derringers in the new world's fastest rimfire, 17 WSM? Or a derringer that shoots both 17 hmr/22 mag with the same barrel???
I want to know if buffalo bore 180 gr 357 mag can be shot in a bond arms. Buffalo bore says it can be shot in any modern gun but it's hire pressure. So I guess I just don't know if it excludes this gun. Plus you should make a 44 and a 45-70. I know so many people that would buy one.
Regarding the Buffalo Bore: Our engineers and QC department have deemed it a "no-go" as the pressure is indeed very high. We do have a .44! Two in fact. 44-40 and 44Spl. :) .44Mag and 45-70 is just too much kick. When we tried test firing the .44Mag out of a 6" ported barrel, several employees were injured. We won't put that out for the public because it's not responsible.
Grrreat video Gordon. Thanks to you, I've decided to load one barrel with .410 CCI #9 since one of 2 reasons is protection from Rattlers when hiking. My preferred Rattler defense is to give the rattler the right of way & allow it to slither off in the opposite direction. The 2nd reason I'm going to buy your 3.5" barrel chambered for 45/410 Snakeslayer is for personal defense against would-be 2-legged assailants. Which ammo would you recommend for the 2nd barrel, 45 Colt long or .410 slug? I placed my 2-3 week back order with Cabela's today,
Our business model was not originally set up to handle all the different tax situations between different states and municipalities, so we are holding off for a bit.
I got a little 22 type shooting the lr ammo i have to use a flathead screw driver to push out the shells they swell up in the chamber idk how to fix it
Until someone tells me any different in my Rowdy w/3"barrel the Lever Evolution in.45 l.c. or .357 is a piece of Hell. 8" grouping at 10yds. I'll take it.
I just bought one of your guns the 45/410 rowdy. I was wanting to know can I get a 6in in 38/357. And would you recommend it. In that caliber. I was thinking more power the longer the barrel. Would that be the case if I got that barrel. I'm a big fan now. It's my only carry.
I want the 4.25" barreled Ranger II (If I can find one) and right now they have a sale that allows you to get a 2nd barrel in any caliber (except 22) for 50% off. I think I would do the .45 ACP as the second barrel.
Just ordered the Bond girl mini 357, and cannot wait to try it out. I am going to go for a second barrel with the 1/2 off offer this month. I am debating on the length of barrel, but know I want the 410 caliber. 3 in vs 3 1/2 in barrel-any suggestions?
I used to be able to buy barrels directly from you. Now you have to use a dealer. I understand a company focusing on dealers but the markup on these barrels are ridiculous. $130 from you. $170 from a dealer? Also, I know why you stopped selling .22 barrels separately. I had to take off the trigger guard to make my .22 work. Turns out I prefer without the trigger guard anyway. By being able to access the lower part of the trigger it is lighter and no knuckle bump.
We are hoping to get back into direct-to-public sales in the near future. We are honestly a pretty small company when it comes to the number of people who are not in the manufacturing side of things, and so we are going to have to be really careful with getting back into nationwide retail because of the hours that it will require. I understand your frustration.
