I have a ranger ll model. My son has a shorter barrel gun. Both are awesome guns. The real difference between the two, is using shotgun loads. Because of his shorter barrel, the shot spreads immediately. My 4 inch barrel will hold the pattern a little longer. We both love them!
I did end up getting the 4" .410 barrel. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but I am excited to. When I do I will film it so everyone can see how it does!
I carry 2 j frames and a Stinger. The Stinger in a 'driving holster ' (cross draw) is very fast to access. When sitting, it's way faster than hip, appendix, or ankle. This will allow you time to fight to your primary firearm from a sitting position and is deep conceal or a last ditch for anything else. You certainly can carry another firearm in this manner but you usually can't get 38 +P in something as small and flat as a Stinger. In this configuration I can use the same ammo (in speed strips) to reload any of the guns but I am mostly depending on NY reloads.
Own A .45LC/.410 Snake Slayer, love the fact I can slip it into my pocket and not have an imprint. Being able to change calibers from .22-10mm makes it even better as a simple barrel swap can make this a up close and personal Hand Cannon. I do plan on getting a .45ACP barrel soon as ammo has been getting hard to find
I did get the .410 barrel but I do want the 10mm which a lot of people think I am crazy for getting that barrel combo with this firearm. I might hate it but I want to try it at least once.
@@GunsmithBeard A 10mm Derringer would be an amazing piece for the collection. Who knows maybe with extended grips and it's low bore axis, it may not be as bad as some say
these are great little guns. with a rich history. i have a glock 19 i have a 38 special i even have a sw shield. but my darringer is always on me. its no different than putting on a case for my Leatherman or cell phone. it blends in to my belt i dont have anything sticking in my ribs or in my crotch. i still can wear my tight fitting jeans an dress shirts. if im ever in a situation where i need more than 2 bullets. im no hero im running and calling the cops
Very nice Derringer!!! Yes fantastic back up close range pistol. I agree wit you I would not carry as a primary EDC due to capacity. I own a Taurus 605 snub nose .357 magnum but same issue it has a 5 round capacity. I’m a firm believer in carrying high capacity in today’s dangerous society!! I would rather have to much ammo & never need it than to need more ammo & not have it. Great video!!! Subscribed!!!👍👍
I have the Rowdy with .45 barrels and they are .45 Colt/.410. I use mine for an ankle backup to my Hellcat concealed carry handgun. You get knocked down and someone is on you the .45 LC will wake them up quick, up close and personal.
That’s a good point of you. What a lot of people don’t know about me unless they met me early in my life… was that I studied martial arts, most of my childhood into my early adulthood. I have a first-degree black belt in taekwondo. And a deputy black belt in Hapkido/Judo. So I understand about fighting on the ground. It served me well to have a Marital art background prior to my service in law-enforcement.
Proud owner of the rowdy. It hits well. As a tool, it is great for critter control. Snakes to yotes. Ole farm boys need one in the feild. In one gun you can take small to mid size game. Self defense..... i give it a c-. As a trail gun or a just in case gun in the woods or feild.... it is a A- My biggest complaint is the heavy trigger pull. Honestly when i bought it, i did not expect it to work as well as it does.
I know I am a minority, but I do carry this gun as a backup, like the name suggests. I carry it in conjunction with a G30s. The things I like about the Bond are that it cannot jam, I can feed it from G30 mags, and can contact shoot with it if things get really ugly. It is not nearly as slow as you’d think. I carry mine in a leather pocket holster and pull the hammer back as I am drawing it. That first shot is very fast, the second nearly so, it just takes an afternoon of practice. I figure If I am using this gun, everything has gone to hell.
If I have gone through 3 mags out of my glock 30 then I am not too sure what it matters if I have 2 or 15 more rounds. Again, if you read my post it is for when things have gone to hell, not a primary weapon, that is what the glock is for.
@@erik2.092 Does it matter if you have 2 or 15 more rounds you say? Yes, it definitely could matter and there’s no way to know that in advance. You’d be better off having a 5 or 6 shot snub-nose revolver as a backup gun than a 2 shot derringer that has to be manually cocked for each shot! You also better hope the manual safety hasn’t been accidentally engaged while you’re pulling the trigger as your life flashes before your eyes. Your Glock is a great choice. I have several Glocks. But choosing the Bond in my opinion is not a good choice at all. We can agree to disagree.
@@jmarine1933 On my Bond Derringer there is a set screw you can tighten with the safety in the off position. Then it will not go on safety accidentally. I guess for a back up gun, the Bond is okay. My backup is a .32 ACP with 7 shots. But a .45 Colt Bond might be better than that?
I bought a Rowdy XL when it first came out. 3in .410/45LC. Great weedeating and woods walk gun for snakes, got a .357 Mag barrel as well as a LH IWB holster and a Wallet holster both for a great deal. Gives a lot of options for a back up gun for such a small package. The quality of this gun is far far better than I would have ever expected a small gun like this to be. Better than my Taurus 66 and M&P 40 and both are twice as expensive
a used, i.e. barely shot, original gen2 b.a. derringer is of better quality that a lesser finished, cheaper rowdy/roughneck. this i know well from expensive personal experience. mine is often a same caliber backup to my ccw of the day. 4 calibers need longer grips. extra barrels are easy holiday self-gifts, bucksnort outfitters are an excellent source. if loaded with 410 i always choose handgun specific 410 ammo. remove the trigger guard and load with big 45lc when it’s a winter walk, gloved hands, ccw. a b.a. derringer with a couple of extra barrels is a handy ammo scrounging piece when away from home. handy too when puttering about at home loaded with 410. i always carry a speedstrip or two with extra ammo.
They’re fantastic pieces, I like the cowboy feel of & huge on not having the trigger guard. Bigger grip covering the back strap tames the .357 & back to the cowboy part I put a 4” barrel ( I belieb it’s 4.25” ). Looking to carry mine as my southpaw piece so I’m just practicing southpaw for now. Good video!!!
Awesome thank you for the feedback. Yeah, I really enjoy the versatility of this little pistol. There’s so many different combinations of calibers and barrel lengths it blows my mind!
I own a Rowdy. I have 4 barrels for it. 3 3 inch barrels .357/.38 and 9mm and .410/.45lc. I have a 6 inch .410/.45 barrel. I also have a custom pistol grip hand made for it. It feels better in my hand than the extended grips from Bond Arms. As much as I like the gun, it's more of a conversation piece. But if's a blast to shoot and watch my friends shoot it. I do use it as a snake gun though.
I’ll have to do an update video, but I did grab a Different Barrel and Extended grip for mine so it’ll be fun to shoot but again I doubt I will carry a concealed as my EDC.
@@wildcatindustries8030 I like shooting .410's out of it, the .45lc really has a kick. I bought mine a while ago and I don't know how much it is now. Mine was $300.00.
@@greghoffman8223 close to $400 if not over for just a bead blasted. I got the 3.5 and I love it for mine, good power, 3in shells and still keeps it short enough to carry, but I always wanted the 6in purely for entertainment purposes
@@wildcatindustries8030 I just bought a Rossi brawler. It is a single shot .45lc/.410 with a 9 inch barrel. It was $210.00. It shoots pretty good. Even better with optics attached. I love my .410's. I'm going to get a Mossberg shockwave in .410 in another month or so. The 12 gauge might be a bit much.
1) the Firing Pins alternate 2) cock Hammer & look at Sear ... if Point UP & Spring compressed = TOP barrel ... if Point DOWN & Spring relaxed = BOTTOM barrel 3) manually De-cock to switch (carefully or engage Safety)
Thank you for your feedback. I found out I had a mass in my brain in 2020. Sadly to say where the mass is located causes me to be very forgetful and sometimes I completely forget or misspeak. Merry Christmas
the great thing is .410 spraying 6 projectiles in 1 shot ... seems faster than 6 pulls of trigger for those pesky tweers that lunge with little feeling
@@GunsmithBeard im sure you will love it ....amazing tight pattern for what it is ... 9mm great for law enforcement but self defense carry will rarely be from a distance
I went many nights at my house with just a Bond Arms 45/410 derringer on my table or by my bed for protection. Now things have changed and I have more gun obtains available and my Bond Arms derringer stlll has a place in my home self defense plan.
Hello blogger. . Can you help me get the CAD drawing of the bond arm? Or 3D printing drawings. I'll buy one from you. Thank you so much. I am in China.
@@GunsmithBeard Extended also spares your hand. I shot 50 rounds of 250 grain American Eagle .45 Long Colt out my Bond and my hand and arm were sore for a day!
As far as I know, the extractors are present on barrels chambered in rimmed cartridges (.38 Special for example). If not extractor is present, then it is not a rimmed cartridge (9mm for example). I would be curious whether they would put an extractor on .32 ACP which has a rim, though not much of a rim. But they don't make a .32 ACP barrel.
Derringers are just stupid. I have 2 semi-auto pistols, 6 shots each, extra mags, and they're basically the same size and weight. Derringers are for people who like toys, not weapons for defense.
