This is the most random ridiculous conversation I’ve witnessed but I loved every second of it. Haven’t laughed that hard is a long time.

The average Silverback Gorilla is about 500 pounds. Put it in at Defensive Tackle. It will take AT LEAST 3 of the best Offensive Linemen to block this big boy, (it often takes two to block the best defensive linemen) which means you can run a 3-3-5. Put Aaron Donald and Myles Garrett one-on-one against the other two O-Linemen and the opposing Quarterback will not only have pressure all day, but five defensive backs and three linebackers in coverage. In offense, just give it the ball and pound the rock. It’ll take at least three-four guys to tackle a 500 pound gorilla. Also keep in mind that, not only is it physically superior and can easily stiff-arm even the likes of Aaron Donald or Vita Vea, but its center of mass and gravity is much lower than a human that stands upright. Tackling it is extremely difficult.

The most realistic and effective animal would be a kangaroo imo. Fast, great leaping ability, and pretty agile/elusive in the sense they were a running back. Also they wouldn’t be as OP as the other animals mentioned

I’m just surprised they didn’t even really talk about like an animal playing line. Like a properly trained grizzly bear at DT is a huge advantage. They were so focused on ball carriers and love eagles as a pick. But like the animal kingdom presents some incredible line opportunities on both sides.

elephant's not a bad pick because you can basically eliminate the possibility of the ball getting punched out even if it's tripped up. gorilla, i'm sorry to say, is a bad choice. we've seen silverback gorillas in nature get overpowered by a pack of chimpanzees, so it's safe to assume the same could be done with an NFL defense and proper scheming. personally i'd go with a hippo because for as chunky as they look, that's almost entirely muscle. and those mf can *charge.* combined with their low center of gravity, that's just perfect RB material.

Ever seen a trained K-9 police unit trigger to catch a perp? Obviously Jason and Travis weren't really thinking defense, but a German Sheperd or a Belgian Malinois at middle backer or strong safety would lead the league in TFLs by a wide margin

I don't think Jason fully appreciates how insanely strong Gorillas are. Put it at RB and nothing is gonna tackle it. It will break every tackle. On defense, it will maul every QB immediately. No one can block a gorilla. If you multiplied JJ Watt by Aaron Donald to the power of LT, you'd get a gorilla playing DE and it doesn't matter if you triple team him, he's getting to the QB every play.

I think, if trained properly, an eagle could intercept a ball and could tackle a guy. Some of them have a wingspan of 8 ft. They are bigger than you think. Do you honestly think you'd be able to avoid a diving eagle if it wanted to take you out? It only needs to put you on the ground. Put the eagle at free safety. It's got great eyesight and can swoop in and snatch any pass out of the air for a free interception. Wouldn't work against the elephant team cause they'll just run it down your throat but it could be a solid counter to the cheetah wide receiver teams.

Some kind of massive quadrupedal ground-based animal is basically the only choice. It's just a matter of where one prefers the tradeoff of size to quickness. 10 men and a bear or gorilla do not stop a competent elephant running back. But a hippo linebacker/safety could trip him, and would be fast enough to avoid him when carrying the ball in his mouth on offense (also boasting a 0% fumble rate). But a horse might outmaneuver them both and would break many tackles before getting tripped up. Rhinos have terrible vision and are not the brightest, so I would actually avoid that choice. Of course Jason likes the Eagle idea, hahaha. But I don't see anything aerial being a threat. Any airborne creature with the size to handle a football would have such a hard time getting enough altitude in the time of a play to capitalize on the potentially game-breaking advantage. As far as I know about the rules, players cannot help teammates launch/leapfrog etc. If a bald eagle wide receiver could get boosted, or even start on a teammate's shoulder, I would reconsider. Subterranean is absolutely ridiculous. Unless they were solely burrowing for a LOT of early plays (and then you'd be down an athlete the whole time), there is no way they could use underground passageways to the team's advantage. And could be neutralized if the opponent has even a subpar-talented subterranean animal. And 100% useless on turf. Ok now let's rank Pokemon!!!
