I'm lucky to own The RSV4 and the RS660, I would agree with Bob, the RSV4 really is fun on the track but is wasted on the road in terms of enjoyment, the RS660 is a great allrounder, and is great everyday bike/track bike.

I got the RS 660 as my first bike almost exactly a year ago. 13,000 km and 10 track days later I'm still thrilled with it's handling an performance. Not for everyone, but if you are mature enough to be careful and maybe have a bit of off-road experience ( basically with enough experience/coordination not to whisky-throttle it), you'll be glad you did.

Great video! I’m 61 and bought an RS660 last year after owning a Tuono Factory and have to say it’s been one of my all time favorite motorcycles. Fun, fast and comfortable. I’ve had zero issues after 5,000 miles!

Got myself a rs457 in June, already done 5000 kms and extremely happy with it. Have ridden r3 and ninja400 extensively and I can say it's probably the best under 500 cc bike

That would be killer. I'm hoping the R9 comes with a bit more power than the MT09/XSR900 deployments, then that might be the ideal road/track weapon that doesn't break the bank. I just can't justify 20 grand for a litre bike, when I don't want/need 200 bhp.

I bought the RS660 LAMS model here in Australia in April, after a 30 year hiatus from riding (and never bothering to do my license in the UK growing up there 🤦🏻‍♂️) I absolutely love it, and ride as often as I can. I have to have the LAMS version for three years but as far as I’m concerned it’s the best LAMS bike on the market. After this I’ll be looking at the full fat Extrema 👍🏻

Like the RS660 but the Tuono more. But with all the problems Aprilia had/have with their engine i just wait or go to other brands. Aprilia could have sorted this out for a long time ago and extended the warranty from 2 years to 5 or even longer. Suzuki has 7 years warranty thats great. If you want buyers to come back you have to act earlier and with full strength. Thats how you keep the trust from the buyers. Theres still many Aprilias out there in 2021 and 2022 years model. I wont buy any of them escially when there is no warranty left.

I have 2x 660 since 2021 no issues! There is a 30000miles longtime Test in a magazine whit Zero Problems. But when you change Exhaust ☠️ Drive and have Fun! Suzuki GSX 8R is trash 🗑️ in compare and so boring 🥱

Nice one Bob. Thank you. I’ve just had one of my bikes serviced and I asked the mechanics if the reliability issues are true for Aprilia (as they are a licensed Aprilia service company) and each mechanic simply modded their heads in saying absolutely! One said, as riding season is upon us in Melbourne, we get owners complaining that they often miss out on half of the fine weather period with their bike(s) “out of action” for weeks at a time. The V4 might be one of the best sounding engines (in every classification). It simply doesn’t make any noise if it doesn’t run. One mechanic even said that they are also a pain to work on.

The rear wheel on the 457 has a 4.5” wide rim, which can easily fit a 160 size tire.. lots of choice for performance biased tires

I have both the RS457 & RS660 both great bikes the front brake on the 457 could be a little better but that just might be me as the 660 pull up quicker and have had it longer, waiting for quick shifter to come in for 457

There’s only one bike that has me contemplating spending crazy money and that’s the RSV4 Factory. I’ll probably never get one and my Aprilia Tuono 660 Factory is awesome, but the old sports bike rider in me wants one. My back and wrists do NOT and nobody needs 200+ hp on the road.

Cool bikes But just checked and the rsv4 1100 factory costs £21.150 and a base bmw S1000rr costs £17.150 and is still quicker and allegedly more reliable has cruise control and heated grips standard so which would you buy?

How's the riding position compared to an R1? I have owned several of those, but don't track ride much anymore and their very low bars were a bit much for the street. I have a 1390 Super Duke R that I love, but kind of miss having a faired super bike.

I don’t get Aprilia. If you are going to buy an Italian V4 Superbike, why would you ever buy anything other than a Ducati. A red Ducati is like the Quintessential Superbike. Additionally, their 660 middleweight is Waaay overpriced. You can get a Japanese Supersport with more power and better tech and better looks for less money. Honestly, the 457 is the most compelling product in their line-up.

Jap supersports don’t give you all the tech a flagship bike has. The RS660 has everything a 1000cc bike has😂. It has cruise control; 6axis imu, anti wheelie, tcs, ebm, etc. an R6 has none of those plus the only way for you to get going is to be at 10000rpm. The Japanese super sports have their merits but for the road the RS660 is the best imo.

The RS660 is way better for the road than Japanese supersports like the R6 or Zx-6r. The RS660 is also equipped with flagship tech like 6axis imu and all the electronics the RSV4 has. Its the best middleweight imo

Ah yes, the racetrack. The place most people aspire to, buy products based on, and lust over the idea of. Yet the same bunch rarely or never go to a track their entire lives. So why don't we celebrate the road instead? Why is it that a beastly 1100cc V4 engine today has to rev to stupid RPM to make most of its power? Why can't manufacturers today produce 1100cc engines that generate the sort of STREET BIASED thrust of say...... a 1996 GPz1100?... a bike that couldn't quit leaving a black line on the pavement until you hit about 80mph? The engine was based on the ZX-11, but tuned for mid-range torque. Smooth as glass (couldn't feel a single tingle even at 9,000 rpm). No. Gotta pour all the money into track engines, with track ergos, and track technology, and track gear ratios, and track fuel capacity, and market the whole lot with track scenery and track riding with track leathers. And again, most motorcycle owners will NEVER ride a track their entire lives. It's like marketing a sea vessel to people who will never touch salt water.
