An absolute masterpiece of a list. I agree with every single rating. What AC 1 did was never matched by the others. The color pallet, the NPCs, the different architecture from city to city, and from district to district. One thing to let you know, as a Greek, Odyssey's Greece is not really accurate. The region of Eptanisa (or Ionian Islands) was literally crammed into a single island called Kefalonia. The geometry of most of the land is at best slightly off, to hands down laughable. Most of the attention was put into the region of Attika, and I can understand why, but it is still an inaccurate map overall, and nowhere near as impressive as people made it out to be.

What I like about Paris is the level if detail when it comes to its atmosphere, as the player goes deeper into the story you see how the streets gets more and more chaotic
I respect your opinions but I think in this ranking you’re focusing too much on the characters and people rather than the settings themselves. While the historical events are very important as well as parkour. Some settings that I would rank higher based on beauty and overall fun activities to do were low on your list
My favorite setting was always the third crusade. Such a nostalgic setting for me. I was playing a lot of stronghold crusader in my childhood if you know that game. Since I was a child, I was always a fan of templars. I remember being sad when I found out that my favorite groups are enemies (assassins and templars)
I think the issues you have with London being philosophically bare, is more of a Syndicate being terribly written problem and less of a Victorian London not having much to draw from problem, london being the center of colonial power at a time, that forcefully 😅extracted the wealth of dozens of countries including the one Henry Green comes from, the emergence of industrialized capitalism, moving people away from the countryside and into the cities while drastically lowering there quality of life in terms of living conditions and life expectancy, there was a lot they could've pulled from but choose not to cause they wanted the game to feel like a sitcom
Two stand out features I would pick with each setting: The Holy Land-The depictions of the poor, middle, and upper classes of society and the atmosphere The Italian Renaissance-The artwork and music of Italy, also the festivities and the agriculture Rome-The different landmarks and mixing the city with the countryside (though I prefer the whole setting being a city Constantinople-Mixing Ezio's settings with Altair's settings and the artwork such as people's clothing American Colonies-The nature and busy streets Caribbean-The tropical feeling and using naval Paris-The detail of the buildings and how big Paris is with the map size, plus the amount of npcs North Atlantic/American Colonies-The snowy mountains and the northern lights London-How alive the world feels with all the boats, carriages, trains, and npcs (probably the most alive setting in the series) and getting to use different modes of transportation like the carriages Egypt-The tropical feeling and the ancient history behind the pyramids and the pharaohs Greece-The numerous landmarks and the tropical feeling, plus the exploration like with exploring a volcano England/Norway-The exploration with places such as caves and going to different cities like Jorvik and Lunden
You can have issues with whether they're appropriate for AC or not but they always seem to put the most amount of effort into making sure the settings are reproduced as best as possible at least visually
I feel like Odyssey could have been great if you were actually an assassin or a warrior turned assassin. The hidden blade would actually be cool taking out the enemies as Alexios or Kassandra. And the setting would again be something new for assassins creed. They messed up big time by not just that but the boss fights and villains as well.
Trash list! the first game has the most barebones cities ever, they're fun gameplay-wise but visually are very bland and similar, and the fact that you have that over Unity's paris is wild. Paris, venice and rome are the best.
Venice is awesome, at a certain point it becomes subjectivity probably to what periods of history interest you the most I found Rome pretty boring I did like the setting and architecture of the original game but one thing I remember thinking about it was that it was the biggest open world game I had played that had nothing to do in it Paris is gorgeous, it's sad that the game surrounding it was such a technical mess. But that game still looks phenomenal to this day
How I'd rank all of the AC settings would be like this personally: 1. Ancient Egypt 2. West Indies/The Caribbean 3. Renaissance Italy (AC2 & ACB) 4. The Holy Land 5. Constantinople 6. France 7. Ancient Greece 8. United States/The Colonies (AC3 & Rogue) 9. Valhalla's setting 10. Victorian London
For me the whole North American setting was the best Rogue’s North Atlantic, NY, river valley Black Flag’s & Freedom cry Carribean AC 3’s NY Liberations New Orleans
I loved how you described AC Syndicate Victorian London. I always read about that time being so dark, with many racial tensions, poverty and overcrowded streets. What they went for in the game was such a huge disappointed at the time I never actually finished the game.
