Quick follow up update: after using both machines even more extensively, I can confidently say that you're better off with the Kitchen Aid or the Oxo if you need something cheaper. Pass on the Breville.

Wow, I've had the Breville for at least 6 or 7 years. Love it. But I do have a long list of Kitchenaid products and decided to search RU-vid for their burr grinder to see how it compares to the Breville. I know the Breville is smoked container so sunlight doesn't affect the beans sitting inside for almost a week until finished How high is the Kitchenaid burr grinder? It will. Fit under my cabinet about 17" high

@@rtaylor3350 I'd imagine the oxygen is worse for the ground beans than the sunlight in clear plastic, in other words, I'd freshly grind your beans every morning. That said, the Kitchen Aid is just a touch SHORTER than the Breville because the Breville has that loop on the top of the lid. I'd go Kitchen Aid!

I have a kitchen aid grinder and use it everyday. And I also grounded 3 lbs of beans at once and then took apart to clean, but the burr was clean to my surprise. I do NOT keep beans in the hopper, I put 22 grams of beans everyday, set @ 32 and 19 to grind all the beans, to me it's the best coffee for drip coffee . 32 is percolator setting , but 42 45 is too fine for me. I paid $135 .

135 is great price. I’m still loving the Kitchen Aid.

I have the Kitchen Aid, on the way. Glad to hear you lean a little more that way. Looking forward to getting a little deeper into the hobby. I want to keep a quick drip maker for time, next to whatever machine I choose. At least I can grind fresh. I will be happy to kick my Keurig to the curb.

Death to the K Cup! You'll like the Kitchen Aid - I've been very pleased with it and continue to use it almost every morning with a Moccamaster or AeroPress.

I ordered the KitchenAid last night before seeing this. Glad that this review went in their favor. The only ding I saw in the video was that the canister lid didn't lock on. Not a big deal for me as I plan to grind to order.

It's a solid grinder overall. I still like it and you will too!

I have both grinders, but for espresso shots, I prefer the Sage/Breville Smart Grinder Pro because it grinds much finer. No matter what, you can't grind fine enough with the KitchenAid grinder. With a bottomless portafilter, the extraction happens way too fast even with the finest setting. So, I use my SGP for espresso and the KitchenAid for filter coffee or anything else other than espresso."

Interesting. Thank you for the input. I'll need to do that SxS test after all!

I think my Breville one just went bad, it wont' grind and the screw keeps becoming loose. I've only had it for 4-5 years I'm so confused their products are built to last at least 10 yrs... The 1 thing I don't like about the breville one is no matter how much I try to keep it clean, the grinds still manage to fly out of the container and thennn i'm left with cleaning a mess afterwards.

too bad you didn't test the grinding with the coffeeholder mounyed, than you would have found out that the Kitchenaid is spitting coffee all around and next to the holder !

I dont understand what you're saying with the exception that I didn't test the machines on the video - and I admit I should have done that. With that said, the Kitchen Aid is the superior product.

This is a coffee grinder machine review and yet you failed to actually grind any coffee beans. This video does a good job of explaining the features of machines for the general consumer, but the price of the machines is just inside the lower prosumer category where people actually care about grind size, consistency, time, and dosing amount. I'd recommend editing and re-uploading the video with the inclusion of grind results to hit the target audience who care about the end product. (Unless this is one of those reviewer channels that returns the products immediately after the video goes up).

I have both machines still. One at house, one at office. I'll take your advice into consideration but while we're on the subject of feedback - what are people looking for? When I look at grinds, they look the same to me. Would you have preferred a close up shot of the grinds post grind?

@@ComputerStuffI think it would be useful to compare the “grind range” and grind consistency for each machine. Which one grinds the finest (for espresso) and which one grinds the coarsest (for say, French press)? I have the KitchenAid and find that the grounds are more consistently-sized than those sold by a local roaster. It would be interesting to see how it compares to the Breville. As for the static, another reviewer said that if you lay the machine on its side and peer up the outlet port, there’s a metal piece made of a couple of metal blocks connected by two wires. Its’s pretty small and hard to see, a cell phone with its light and magnification app helps. Bottom line, every 6 months or so clean the accumulation of coffee dust from it or you could be fighting static again. I suspect it acts as a ground where the wires pick up the static charge and the blocks have enough mass to hold it. As long as it’s clean, it seems to work well.

@@jimbolt5170 Thank you for the fantastic comment. Good advice on the static, as well as the grind comparison. I'll do an updated video comparing the two units and post it in the comments next week.
