You prolly dont give a shit but does anybody know of a way to get back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid lost the account password. I love any assistance you can give me!
@Zahir Emiliano I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
I have the non fuel M12. Been running it for 5+ years. It’s nice having the small size to one hand cut. It does 90% of what I need. It will even cut deep strut though the last 1/16” is a fight. Never really needed more power. That said I’m still eyeing this new one up cause why not? I have just recently moved into some m18 tools though...
Just my opinion, I think the M18 Compact is the only one most guys will need. I have the little M12 too but anything over 1/2", I feel like I'm waiting on the tool. The M18 has never felt heavy to me and will rip through anything you put in front of it clean and easy. I wouldn't personally buy a deep cut band saw because most of the time your Company will have a corded one if you're doing big pipe. Thank you for the thorough video!
Finally a new video. I didn’t have a notification on my phone like the videos in the past. I just checked the channels I’m subscribed. I’m happy watching your videos 😄
Great idea to have the double trigger system cause I watched a guy use one hand and the other on the pipe and after he cut the pipe the band saw sliped and almost cut his finger off
I did a little research and from what I found the m18 fuel compact can utilize the same blades..35 3/8”. Not 100% but from what I seen in 20 minutes of googling, looks to be 👍
I moved from dewaly to Milwaukee platform just for the band saw once I got it everyone came out with a compact band saw. 😡 a year later everything i bought came out fuel 😡 but m12 platform is great.
You need 2 of 'em. Smaller one for 2" pipe. It's small enough to use all day. The other one should be capable of 4" pipe. Too big to sling around all day but needed occasionally for larger projects. JMO.
I have the tiny m12 bandsaw, I love it! Very small and easy/light to pack in and out with my other tools. Straight cut I haven't been able to cut 1 1/2 EMT, but if you cut a ring around it, up to 2" EMT is no problem. Deep strut it will do but only if it's a perfectly straight cut, otherwise better to cut one side at a time, very straight that way too. People always make of of my "Lil Ms. Red", but then always ask to use her in tight spots lol! Can't wait to get that new m12 fuel!
Man the M12 fuel bandsaw is the most overdue addition to Milwaukee’s lineup I can think of. I’ve been wanting an M12 fuel bandsaw for like 5 years. Why did you take so long, Milwaukee?!
I found that the m12 bandsaw only really shine in residential jobs my personal experience with the m12 bandsaw and cutting angle iron.......struggle is a nice way of putting it and it seemed to lose it's overall power after about a year I ended up purchasing a new 12 one and same thing happened after a while just felt like the motor wasn't motoring. However I just got that m18 compact and I'm super stoked to use cause the deep cut us perfect for my commercial uses just hate the weight and awkwardness that the deep cut can create in certain situations
I just use the big bandsaw, especially since I am mostly cutting 4 inch ductwork for hvac along with threaded rod and unistrut. Hands down the easiest way to cut 4 inch double wall pipe until they create a real lightsaber! I have the 40v Makita and it is an absolute beast! Having the 44-7/8 blade is also nice because it is a common size.
The name for that is actually a “rafter hook” because those originally came on circular saws and tradesmen would use that when framing to hang the saw from rafters and joists.
The only battery powered bandsaw I have is the m12. I’m a plumber so I don’t use them as much as an electrician would. Now that we don’t cut and thread black iron the band saw is perfect. I have the corded version of the Milwaukee big bandsaw that I pull out if I’m doing a big gas job. I’m excited to see the bigger m12 because the current m12 mainly gets brought out for strut and ready rod but it’s hard to cut the thicker strut with it. It also looks like it will cover almost any job we do. We rarely go over 2” except with pvc and that easier with a sawzall. And if we are cutting 2 1/2” and up copper or black iron I can easily run a cord.
I’m a 6 month in apprentice and I’ve got both M18 and M12. I have gotta say guys, M12 surprised me. My M12 Impact is… I ask a lot of that thing, and do things that it’s CLEARLY not designed to do (how about drilling 6” deep 7/8” holes), and she still delivers. Still would say start on M18 however, it’s more versatile and your company will likely have spare batteries to toss you if you need some juice. Also when it comes to brands Dewalt isn’t a bad choice either for their 20V stuff, and WAY too many people sleep on Makita’s incredible Build quality and designs. Regardless though, red and black suits me, with Milwaukee’s kick ass RnD and just raw power in their tools.
The speed setting isnt all that ridiculous when you are cutting structural steel. Imagine there is 500 lbs on each side of the cut and it binds up. At max speed you are guaranteed to throw the blade out or snap it in half. I never take it below 3 tho.
YES!! Finally you are back, haven’t been watching any electrical videos because nothing keeps me interested like you do! Glad too have you back and hope all is well with you brother!! I’m a year into my apprenticeship now and the amount of times your videos have come too life is amazing! Thank you for everything and I’m excited too see you back!!
I have a lawn service, I watch your videos for other reasons. But I have had my M18 Lawnmower for 8 weeks now and have been loving it. This is the mower that doesn't make me feel like I need to keep a gas mower around for "just in case".
Welcome back! Thank you for very informative video on Milwaukee Bandsaws. My question is would you use Big M18 to cut railings while installing a solar system on a roof or you have a better suggestion?
I have a cordless dewalt deepcut. I've been useing it to to cut 3" pvc when running flu, all-thread, unistrut, gas pipe, etc. I can walk into my local supply house and find dewalt blades on the wall. And I'm still on my first blade. I can lean it against my leg and make one handed cuts with ease.. Bad ass. But I recently picked up a Milwaukee m18 fuel compact for smaller cuts and I can't believe the fiasco with blades. I literally burned up my 1st supplied blade, and had no teeth left after cutting one 1/2 inch black pipe.. Wtf.. I've been on the phone with Milwaukee but I can't seem to get a straight answer on what blades I need for general HVAC and electrical work. It was an EXTREME THIN METAL blade. I found some 48-39 0529 blades at ace a town over, but may just box this up and send it back if it's gonna be this hard. No point in having a bad-ass tool if I can't get quality blades for it. The saw feels sweet in hand tho, so reluctant. Any advice?
You should update/ redo this video with the newer versions... and then giveaway 5 to the people who comment with very good suggestions (like this one! 😃 )
My philosophy on tools is Go Big or Go Home. If you can master the biggest tools as an apprentice like I'm doing, the smallest ones will be a breeze. Might not work if you dont have Lumberjack Hands like me though...
See I tried this approach for Drills, but when I swapped from a Super Hawg to a regular Hog, it felt way better. Then when I swapped from a Hole Hawg to a Gen3 Drill Driver I couldn’t go back. Now I’m waiting on a Gen3 M12 Drill Driver, since M12 has surprised me so much with its power. Of course my hands just love the M12 tools too, I’ve got large hands and I’m able to just get a gorilla grip on those tiny tools, especially with the wide bottom.
I have a m12 subcompact, good for up to 1 1/4.. love the m12 line. Way lighter and just enough power if ya get in a pinch. Not for every day hd use though.
Which is more powerful? The 5-inch corded? Or cordless? Don't really understand the need for a HUGE cordless. If you're using one, you're most likely on a big project for a while and you likely have a cutting stand to hold the pipes in place (or something) so just having a cutting station would probably be more economical overall.
For years I always used a saw-saw then about 7 years ago I got the medium size bandsaw and I rarely see my saw-saw anymore best tool for cutting conduit. You should have mention that the one item you can add to all the bandsaws is the pipe reamer it attaches to the drive wheel so you can also ream your conduit for a clean cut. Also you can attach the saw to vertical 2x4 stud and it will stay attached and use it sorta like a table saw Great video 👍👍👍👍👍
I almost got the m18 deep cut. Ended up going for a greenlee corded bandsaw. Made in usa and all metal. Still works great, new blade and cord. I plan on doing new brushes and greasing up the gear box in the near future. Down the line (if I'm doing more conduit work) I'm probably going to scoop up a baby m12 band saw. A coworker has one. Theyre nice and compact.
I own the older compact. Kinda heavy, kinda bulky and no ladder/belt hook option. That said i still really like it, just wish it had the hook, will probably make one. On a side not the makita compact is also really nice. Much lighter and comes with ladder hook.
I bought the newer non fuel compact like 2 months before they released the fuel version. I was so pissed. If you find a good system for the hook, let me know! I've been thinking of doing the same, just haven't found any hooks or placements to work yet
I absolutely love the m12 bandsaw but will def be buying the new fuel version. They addressed the two major things that I wished the old brushed model provided..a 2” cut and a rafter hook! Def wish they used the same blade though. Not a game changer but would have been nice.
I’ve used all of them. The only two you need are the m12 fuel and the m18 deep cut. M12 fuel is the best for the first buy since you will much less often cut conduit larger than 2 inches.
The speed dial on the m18 bandsaw is for when you are cutting stainless strut or rod, or any metal that's super hard. You will burn up your blade before you get through if it's on the fastest speed.
The best one is the one I can afford. Right now, that aint much, but the bandsaws are great for line, tower, and general electric work. Couldnt imagine not having one at this point when cutting rigid or strut.
I like using my subcompact for emt and caddy brackets, my fuel mid size for rigid and struts, and for anything above 3" I just end up using my hacksaw, the deep cut is just way too heavy for my liking. Cheers. That midsize fuel has a reamer for EMT adapter it works pretty good only downfall is the way Milwaukee designed it to snap on the the bandsaw it tends to fall off a lot.
I would really like to own one of those for cutting pipe when I go to the jobs but you just can't do it because if you do everyone else will want to use it too. It would get messed up quick. Thats why not everyone has one. Not because they don't want it or don't have the money.
Very informative review. Can you please comment on how hard it is to get a straight cut with the deep cut tool? Even regular bandsaws sometimes have blade drift. Thank you.
Hvac guy here, haven't watched the video yet but after using all of them over the years, the m18fuel compact is the best by far especially with a high output 3.0..you can cut strut, conduit you name it with no problem and climb ladders with this thing.only complaint is finding blades in stores. My favorite tool I own then the 12v surge... Edit: you need to get a ridgid tripod and cut your material! So much easier, yes not as fast but better cuts
I’m in hvac install and I’ve been wanting to get a band saw for awhile now. Was going to get the m18 compact but I already have a bunch of m12 batteries and the new m12 sub compact looks pretty good. Pretty much decided to only get brushless tools because brushed tools just don’t hold up for long term professional use. Is the new m12 rated for cutting black iron gas pipe? Biggest I cut is 1 1/4”.
Bro I jus discovered your channel. Excited to go through the the videos and learn! Thanks for this. Please keep making videos for us who are absorbing all this great info! Cheers
Whats up mate. 10 years later I still use mine with the 20v batteries. Funny thing is hercules brand blade 2 piece for $14.99 and made in America and fits this saw.
I got a compact ( non brushless ) and everyone would use the big deep cut to cut 3” emt or rigid and walk back and forth to the tripod . I would just spin the pipe in my hand and cut the pipe and got done twice as fast , I want the brushless so bad .
These are great for cutting all thread without having to chase the threads and cutting liquid-tite without any burrs or tear out. I've only have the deep cut, but it gets the job done, big or small.
Thank for returning one of the best electrical information sources around. Looking forward to your take on Wego connectors and whether you should put electrical tape around switches or outlets. Thanks again.
Sizes are hard to find so here they are- 27” (12v not fuel) 30 9/16” 12v fuel 35 3/8” 18v (Dustin was wrong, it’s not 35 7/8” as he said in video) 44 7/8” 18v deep cut The 35 3/8” Milwaukee or 32 7/8” Dewalt/Ridgid are probably the most overall versatile if you can only buy 1. Those little 27” saws though are super handy as a second specialized bandsaw once money allows
Love my M12 Cordless Portaband. For the big stuff though I still use my trusty Milwaukee 120v Deep Cut with the optional stand that makes it into a chop saw. That is nice a a cut station for chopping strut and allthread. The M12 saw is awesome for anyone who is an installer of any type, residential Electrical or Plumbing or Light Commercial. So much 1” and smaller stuff to cut in those trades.
Glad to see your back Dustin! Great content! I watched all your videos before starting and during trades school. I’m 46 out of school and just over 5 months full time into the trade and loving everything about it!
got all the bandsaws besides the sub-compact. I love the compact m18 the best since it's not too heavy to hold with 1 hand comfortably all day and it does work on anything, but the m12 is awesome when it's possible to use it
It’s really to ensure safety by forcing you to use two hands with the tool. That way you can’t try to work it one handed and hurt yourself. I’d imagine they don’t sell very many of these, but sell them for OSHA adherence on some jobsites
@@ElectricianU oh ok that makes sense. Because I’m thinking, on an actual job site, I would never want a two trigger tool. I’m a female electrician and my hands barely fit the one trigger system lol so two triggers would be hell for me.
I have to a mini ban 12 series all my powers tools are Milwaukee all my hand tools are Klein but now after that awesome video I want to buy newer 3 inches one sub compact Milwaukee 12 series I also need Milwaukee 18 volt hole hawg too lol I’m big fan of Milwaukee tools I love all my tools lol thanks for video
Funny, as watching Pipeline yesterday on live stream & commenting on whether anyone ever done vid on all the bandsaws; t(an BOOM 💥 Your video😂 AWESOME! Love the new m12 fuel & excited bout it.
I pipefit and pipe weld. I’ve cut 6” sch 80 pipe with bandsaw. Pretty sure I had the thick metal blade it be better but I had to roll the pipe cut a quarter at a time. Way quieter and no sparks. It is to big for 2” pipe so I’m prolly gon get the compact m18. I’ve made my corded bandsaw into a benchsaw. I agree with most or all of the stuff you’ve said. Great review.
