Depends on the "WHY"...are you starting a business for security or for significance (impacting other peoples lives,ie,creating jobs,providing affordable goods and services etc)..personally i'm at a "struggling" stage in life,so with $50,000 i'll most likely start a business for the purpose of security,the best business in this case would be in investment banking.With $50,000 i'll shop around for the best interest rates and let my money work for me,with that,you wouldn't have to worry about operating costs,maintenance costs etc....atleast that's what i did with $47,000...

okay so my idea may not start off as a business but I want to invest in education. so right now I have my mind set on building a massive library catering to African history and business plus IT, so its a safe environment for people to come and get motivation and knowledge which can lead to them starting own businesses.

The young lady at 5:02 had the most amazing collar bones I've ever seen in my entire life! ........PROCESSING PLANTS! One business idea that is already there, regarding agriculture, is getting the machines to process cocoa. Ghana is the #1 producer and has the best crop of cocoa but sells it cheap to other parts of the world that have the machinery to process it; they make the real money off of Africa's crop. So many examples of this.

I enjoyed the video, you have to do part 2 for this. I would like to hear to hear the brother with agricultural idea a lot more. His idea was a great one. Please do a part two, also I would like to put the link of the website on the video or throughout the video to promote the website. Waiting on part 2, maybe you can go to a school and asked students the same questions.

Which part of Ghana and neighborhood was this survey taken in sister? I will be traveling from the states to Ghana, for the first time this month for the "New Years". I see there's a lot of potential there, with clear minded young African peoples. Now! I believe that we, as Africans that were trained in the west, need to be very careful in our business pratices in our motherland... A lot of our problems are existing because we're trying to copy, to our detriment, the sick European business model (their conceived way of living on Earth). Since you come from the western point of view just like me, our job as Africans that want to help regenerate Africa together with ourselves, is to create innovative and sustainable/humane business models, that doesn't exploit our people nor ourselves....! When you mentioned real estate, i got scared because you know the exploitative business models the west has, when it comes to "Real Estates", which comes from "Royal Control..." We need to become harmoniously innovative, to not continue the job of the exploitating our own people! Much love! Love your work! Thanks!
@moretodela
@moretodela 6 лет назад
Hi! Thats great that you will be coming to spy the land for yourself. I completely agree about the exploitation aspect. We need to be very careful but there is also another side of the coin. We have tried on several occasions to be really fair and nice to Ghanaians only to be stung in the process. Unfortunately because we have been out of the country we are seen as walking money trees and therefore people want to take as much as they can from us. Its very difficult to strike a really good balance to be fair to all parties involved.

Absolutely! All people are looking for is affordability. If you can build homes that are affordable to middle income earners then you are onto a great thing. There is still demand also for luxury homes but not on the same scale that there was a few years ago.

Agriculture, Livestock Farming. With $50,000 raw cash, I am planning to buy 1 acre of land in Africa when USA international airport is open, I am going to fence the 1 acre land, put borehole on the line, building security house in the front, building boys quarter at the back of the land where workers will be staying, building a very big 3 greenhouses next to one another then start commercial indoor free rage Poultry, Eggs Production(layers) Turkey inside one of each greenhouse. Start production, very lucrative.

Might be a good idea to interview more matured, business-savvy folk in future. With the exception of the second chap who suggested an investment in agriculture, all the others didn't really appear to have a clue, as they all appeared to be young students with little experience or know-how. Would have been good to interview people with deep understanding (if not experience) of setting up businesses in Ghana, as they'd have a better idea of what would generate good business income from a $50k investment.
@cocobutterchin6768
@cocobutterchin6768 4 года назад
You need to open your sense and go and interview people that are doing mega commercial Agriculture and Livestock in Africa. Some of them are making more money than the kind of business that you are coming up with. People like you will fail big time if handed $50,000. I am selling my house that is paid off here in the STATES. I am taking close to $60,000 back to Africa to invest in Big commercial livestock on a very big scale. I know some people in Africa that are making $70,000 a year on commercial eggs that came from her commercial chicken laying egg on a big scale supplying to big places like Shoprite in Africa.

@@cocobutterchin6768 are you on some narcotics or something.........or are you just too dumb to get a basic grasp of the subject matter?? Nobody is interested in what you intend to do with your $60,000 pocket change which you seem to think is some mind-blowing sum of money. The interview was to garner the thoughts of random, ordinary people on the streets of Accra on how they'd invest some sum of money in a business venture and to offer sound, knowledgeable ideas to others. That's what brought people here to view this video, not read your nonsensical rant.

Maybe someone can address this question. I got information from some source I can't recall that a foreigner couldn't obtain a business license in Ghana unless the following conditions and limitations were met. 1. A one million dollar (US) or more investment was dedicated to launch the business - OR 2. A native Ghanaian controlled at least 50% business ownership - OR 3. The business was either a manufacturing or export business that employed native Ghanaians. Any responses appreciated.
@moretodela
@moretodela 6 лет назад
+Ti Ha There is something like that but I don’t think it’s a million dollars. I think it’s $50,000 (off the top of my head) and it’s not the whole amount. It depends on the net worth of the company. If the company is only worth say $10,000 then you may only pay something like $1000. Those figures I’ve given don’t actually mean anything it’s just to give you an idea of what I’m talking about. If you go into business with a Ghanaian then the cost is even lower.

Natural Ghana Girl Thank you again. I'll have an America style retirement income sufficient for comfort but I worry of being bored. If my girlfriend chooses not to move there with me I'll need something just to keep my mind busy so I'm considering a business of some type. Possibly I'll just do something for free; I was a teacher many years ago and have considerable building/construction/science&engineering skills... maybe I will start a training program giving job skills to young people seeking a direction. I'm approaching my golden years, and I've never had children so now I guess a part of me is seeking a purpose for me having been on the Earth other than eating up all the food and taking up space. :-)

Here in American that is called flipping houses. If you buy a property and own the property for less than 1 year then flip it you will have to pay 15- 28% tax on your profit from selling the house. However if the property is your home and you have lived in it for at least 2 years, then sell it you don't have to pay taxes on the profit. What percent tax do you pay in Ghana?
@moretodela
@moretodela 5 лет назад
+Joyce G Cooper I’m not sure about the percentage here. Everything is negotiable that’s all I know.
@user-gc5dx8fj5u
@user-gc5dx8fj5u 4 года назад
You don't pay any tax on the sale of your house in Ghana and I stand to be corrected on this. , I could bet my last dime on it. That's one of the perks or beauties of living in Ghana and perhaps most of Africa in general. as draconian as those in the western world. You build your house out of your own personal funds and when you sell it, you keep all your money in your pocket. Simple. Besides, if I sold my house for $500,000 and claimed to have built it at a cost of $495,000 or even above $500,000, who's going to dispute that and with I'm the only one who could truly account for the build cost? How does out what's been my profit margin? This is why the government can't even attempt to tax profits on properties sold by individuals. It's a complete non-starter. Property development companies though will be expected to abide by a different set of tax regulations, being registered as businesses.
