Thank You for this video --- I just order the 315 for my wife --- I was not sure witch one to choose, but the 15.6" screen (and the price) will be perfect for her --- She is a student (from home) using "Zoom" and "Teams". She also loves watching all kind of videos on RU-vid --- So your video "review" confirmed that I made the good choice, I hope ! --- Thank's again !
Mr. Berry nice video I think i found the same Acer cb315 on Walmart the last time it was $179.00. Do you know of another 15 inch Chromebook that comes with touchscreen that you recommend.
Was it new? I did not know the padded case was an option, that could be removed from the order. When we bought ours for one of my sons, it came with the padded case. He uses it for homework, nVidia gaming, and editing.
Does the Acer chromebook spin 511 notebook include a passive pen or does the notebook not support a stylus and do I need to purchase a compatible one? Thank you
You're welcome. I use a number of different ones, Sctreencastify, Screen Recorder, Flixier. As seen here; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VCy5vN8u4lI.html
Thanks for the quick comparison. In terms of screen resolution, would you recommend one model more than the other ? As I get older (but not necessarily wiser !) I find screen resolution to be more important than any other feature of a laptop.
@@selmateacher7 Thank you. So disappointing. I was considering buying this but I watch movies in bed and I have to assume the bed would muffle the sound terribly. Ugh. What a poor design.
@@JW-vg9ex That is what I and my family do with theirs. The speakers work great as the sounds come from the area just in front of the keyboard. The holes are below, but the sound projects upwards through the area just in front of the keyboard. My boys are using their 315 right now to play Rock and roll music as they are working on pruning the trees in the back yard.
@@selmateacher7 So you don't think the sheets/softness of a bed would dampen the sound? I can't see how it wouldn't... I guess I could rest it on top of a piece of cardboard on the bed, to possibly solve this, but that's a bit annoying.
@@JW-vg9ex LOL. It is not a poor design. The speakers are facing upwards. They have the air intake holes below to allow the speakers diaphragm freedom to move without blocking the air. Most newer laptops have done away with having the air intakes on the top as dust, and other debris falls into the holes and then its hard to clean without taking the whole laptop apart. My wife and sons use theirs just as you described and they enjoy theirs. I just went outside and brought an Acer 315 into bed to watch a video as you described. If I press the laptop down into the sheets.. yes it muffles the sound. But if I just have it on my belly with it on the sheets, the sound is not muffled. Sounds great. The laptop is rather lightweight and pivots up slightly on its back, allowing the speakers to breath. The major drawback for the 315 that my boys have is that it lacks a touch screen.
Hi! How is the front facing camera resolution for the 315? Trying to compare its resolution to the samsung chromebook, which is a 720P. Taking this into consideration for Zoom calls. Thank you!
They both do 720p when I used screencastify to record with their webcams. I have used both with Zoom, Google Meet and Facebook Calls with them and their quality was acceptable in those streaming applications.
It charges quickly in about an hour or less. The video for the Acer 511 is here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m-XnHAf-Z5U.html Acer 511, models R752T, R752TN
Hello for the Acer spin 511 can you connect it to a monitor since it does not have any HDMI ports. Would I have to buy a HDMI to USB-C would that work or no. Please do a tutorial of connecting it to a monitor or just respond saying yes or no.Because the 11 inch just isnt going to cut it. And it is only 60hz and im planning on buying a 240hz and connect it .
True, an 11 inch monitor is just too small. I use a USB-C to HDMI adapter, as I have an older HDMI monitor and it does not have the USB-C ports found on newer monitors. I made a video on which hub to use and how it works as seen here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HCMbc6KfIBA.html
Yes. My son is using the 315 to play WOT games on nividia plus .... it also does perfect in Amazon plus video.. Google meet.. etc... as long as your wifi is fast...
@@adammousset693 It should work well as long as you have fat internet. I am here to help, if you need it. I have a few other videos about the 315 on my channel.
Yes PDF editor: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5a0nqxbZubs.html Word .. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CACLIQ7Cnig.html Plus I have about 200 videos on the topic of editing Word docs with a Chromebook.
Have brought a chromebook laptop and downloaded Microsoft word but it does have all important features, I don’t know wether it’s the laptop or the app. If I’m to get all features on word how can l do it?
Thank you for the question. True the the MS word, free online version is missing wordart and a few other features. Try using Google Docs that now has more features than MS Word had. You can use it offline and save your work as a MS word doc, if others need that type of file.
just bought the 315 to use on zoom, anyway in trying to set the system up i noticed keyboard didnt have a caps lock so i was unable to do uppercase letters, do anyone else have this problem?
It is okay. The Chromebooks do have caps lock. Please press Alt and the key with the magnifying glass on it. So the short cut is Alt + Search key to have caps lock on. To see more short cuts : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UpmFyXo9pLY.html
The 315 does not have a touchscreen, which is a real drawback. The 511 has a touchscreen, but, of course, the screen is only 11" . I use the CB515, which has both a larger screen and it's a touchscreen. About the HP 14, I have owned a few in the past. They were not the 14-ca023nr, but had the same CPU.. the N3350 is a 3rd generation Intel Celeron processor. The 315 has a 4th generation Intel CPU, which runs cooler and is more efficient. I use my Chromebooks to help create my videos and I did notice the performance difference between the 3rd and 4th generations. I do have videos on the HP 14, but they mostly focus on repairing those units..LOL... If you watch my video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Nm43frBNLXI.html you will see what a 4th gen Intel Celeron CPU can do. If I were you, I would look for a Chromebook with a newer CPU, i.e. N4400.. N5000 or above.
@@Justkeepitabuck That really depends on what you need. Yes the 315 is better than a HP 14, just like Yugo is better than a bicycle. The 315 lacks a touchscreen, which means it cannot run Android apps. That is the big drawback that I eluded to. I love using my Chromebook to do all of my work and play. The 315 does play the game shown in ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Nm43frBNLXI.html, but it's lack of a touchscreen is unacceptable to me. If you can find a Chromebook like the Acer cb515 that has a 4th or 5th gen CPU, and a touchscreen, bang.. that is what I would recommend. The 315 is a far better choice than the HP 14.. yes. I am just saying... having a touchscreen will allow you to use Android apps which really make a Chromebook more useful. The 511 is great.. but kinda small... My wife loves her 511 for what she does. One of my sons has the 315 and he loves it, as he plays World of Tanks on it and does his homework too. I own the Acer CB515 and I think that it is best... There are newer options for you. I owned a few HP14 Chromebooks and they were useful for their time.. Yes.. they are an older design that time has past them by. Put it simply if I was ONLY looking at 315 verses the HP 14... The 315 wins and wins big. Like I said.. a Yugo is better than a bicycle. They both do the same thing, but the Yugo will get you there faster.
So, you have the 311. Thank you for the comment. I am not sure why they would send the padded case or not. Seems like they should always do the same thing.
