Thank you for your wonderful comment. They do make a Acer 715 with upward facing speakers, but that version is missing the 10 key. So there are different versions of the 715, which may fit your budget and hardware specifications.

Thank you for the comment. About the videos on an SD card. I probably have done that as part of one of my longer video lessons. Once you have the video file on the Chromebook, you can use the File app (has an icon of a blue folder - found in the apps) to drag the movie files from the download folder to the SD media drive.

I am using my CB715 right now. I do like the higher speed that it works at. I am happy to make these videos. Thank you for letting me know that you like them.

@@sklanegames701 It may be a problem with the mouse. Mine will do that at times when the optics get dirty, so I clean it up and it works well again. You may see if someone else is moving your mouse by disconnecting the computer from the internet. @@selmateacher7 I have the Acer Chromebook 14 CB3-431. It's getting a little old now, but still works very well. Hopefully I can install Kubuntu or Linux Mint when it is no longer supported by Google.

Yes, you may use the SD cards in that way, if the 32GB of internal storage is not enough. To check how much space you have on the internal storage, simply open the Files App, then click on the three dots found in the upper right hand corner of that app, the free space will be given at the bottom of that pull down menu.

Thank you for the question. I have not seen any problems with the reconditioned or refurbished units and I buy many, many units a year for my students. I use to buy new ones, but I found that some of those new units were DOA. So I went with reconditioned or refurbished units after that and have never had a problem. I have other videos that go over how to test the battery life and other factors and I have always found that these reconditioned or refurbished units are perfect. The CB515 that I made videos about, so many years ago had been my daily computer for all of that time. It still works well, I just wanted a newer unit with a faster CPU for myself. Oh... and please subscribe! I would really like that.

Unfortunately, Canon has been the source of constant issues with their printers. Many of my students and co-workers have completely given up on Canon and found that troubleshooting them was almost impossible. The main issue is that most Canon models, such as the 475, do not include internal capability to interpret standard printer languages such as HP's PCL, Epson's ESC/P, or Postscript. Also, many of the Canon printers require that the host computer (usually Windows or Mac based) compose the image and send it to the printer as a graphics bitmap. wow. I see a lot of different errors and messages... That one is rare. Are you using an external monitor or and/or do you have anything plugged into any of the ports on your Chromebook? If so, please power down, unplug any devices you have plugged into the Chromebook except your charger if you need it, then power up, sign-in and see if you are still getting the message. If you do get the message again after unplugging everything then open a browser tab and enter the following URL: chrome://os-settings/help Then, click on "Additional details" On the "Build Details" line, click on the icon that says "Copy build details to clipboard" when you hover over it. Then paste (Ctrl+v, or right-click Paste) the results in your next comment. That will provide important information that will help with troubleshooting.

Thank you , Thank you... Basically when looking for a Chromebook that can fit your needs as you described, look for one that has the Intel Core i3 CPU or faster and 8 GB of RAM. The Acer CB715 fits that and did my work in creating videos until a power surge ended it.

@@selmateacher7 UPDATE: After 18 months of use, the plastic tab to the left of the hinge broke and the display fell away from the frame...sheesh, what bad quality. I will replace it with an Acer...that was $400 down the drain as I expected to get more than 1 1/2 years' use out of my purchase. Lenovo has lost me now as I will never trust them or their products again.

I do have a number of videos on that topic, I did not need to turn on Linux to make VLC play movies. But with that said, it did not play 100% of my movies, and I have used both the VLC from the playstore and the one from the ChromeWeb store and I have seen that they are different.

Thank you for the uplifting comment. I made a few videos about the CB315. They will work great for you. Just make sure that it has a touchscreen, if that feature is helpful to you. The 4 gb of RAM, is perfect, as I showed in the video. 32 gb of storage is enough. You can always simply plug in a tiny USB fit drive to store more as I show in another video.

We saw this in class. I would unplug the laptop from power. Turn off the system, remove the battery, and then press and hold the power button for about a half a minute or so. Then put everything back together, plug in and power on. If still white screen, then there may be another issue going on.

Advertisment? Do you mean at Walmart or Amazon. Any seller is suppose to let the buyer know if their Chromebook has a touchscreen. If they say that they have a touchscreen, when really they do not, then that is false advertising and I would take the units back, ASAP. Both Amazon and Walmart have an excilent policy for returned merchandice and I have returned many.. MANY items to both stores, if any merchandice failed to meet my high expectations. I have never returned a Chromebook, but I have returned Windows computers, monitors and other items with any problems from them.

I still buy renewed CB515 for studnets and friends and I normally try to find the ones priced around $250. Just make sure you know which CPU it has, as Acer has some of the CB515 that have the N3250 CPUs. So I normally look for ones that have a N4200 or faster CPU and 4 GB of RAM.

@@Odnomah As I stated in the video, when I tested other models that had that processor, they seemed a little slow in Android gameplay. A N4200 or faster would be ideal.

@@Odnomah No. It would not make that big of a difference in that regards. My wife has one with a 3250 CPU and it works ok for playing her streaming videos, radio, facebook, and TV. I only noticed it when I tried editing or proccessing videos or played android apps

@@selmateacher7 btw I saw this on my chrome system viewer on my chromebook just now, and it said "hack-33025-touchpad" and another one with "hack-33025-touchscreen" What does it mean? Is my Chromebook really hacked by someone? Is it part of the normal system? Or is it something else?? Also tell me too if you have that in your chrome system viewer on your chromebook, so that I can find out if this is normal or something to be worried about.

Here is the page that describes the layers of security your Chromebook has which also proves that you do not have a virus: support.google.com/chromebook/answer/3438631 But I would make sure that my Google account is secure. Please ake sure that two step verification is on. What may have happened is that someone hay have access to your Google in which case you should see this page to secure it: support.google.com/accounts/answer/6294825 I also have many videos on better security and how to remove any suspected extensions.

THE CB715 had many options from the factory. Touchscreen was one. There is no option in the settings called, Touchscreen on/off, that I know of, But you may check by clicking on the time, then the gear icon, this will open the settings, now click within the search box of the settings and key in the word, touchscreen. Any Touchscreen settings will appear there.

@@storyforkids22 I see. Then it looks like your Chromebook never had that option. The CB715 has many options from the factory . One version was without the touchscreen.

Good question. There are a few different versions of the 715. The 715 shown in the video, has a CPU fan that comes on after the unit get hot. I use a laptop stand, so mine is silent most of the time. There are other 715 Chromebooks that to NOT have a Core i3 or Core i5, those DO NOT have a CPU fan. As Core i3, i5 units need a CPU fan. So before buying check to see which CPU it has. Again, if it has a Core i3 or i5 then it will have a CPU fan. The Intel 3000 through 4600 do not use CPU fans.

@@selmateacher7 Thank you for your help I've never owned a Chromebook and am not the most tech savvy this is the information i have ACER 715 15.6" Chromebook - Intel® Pentium®, 128 GB eMMC Intel® Pentium® Gold 4417U Processor find it a little confusing as I'm finding so many different results when trying to find out if it has a fan. Would you say this chromebook is good for basic stuff like netflix,picture editing? also thanks again

@@deeogorman1969 That one should not have a CPU fan. I believe it would work well for stuff like video and picture editing. As that is what I do with my Chromebooks that have weaker CPUs than the 4417U.

Hmm. This is why I explain the naming of the CPUs, So that you would not be confused. Acer makes these models with many, many CPU choices. Please watch the video again as I go over how to interpret the CPU names. A N4200 is faster than a N4000, but slower than a N4400. The advertisers or sellers may call then "Pentium", because the Celeron is a type of Intel Pentium processor. Also, The 315, 515, and 715, come in two keyboard configurations, one with a numeric keypad and another without. The one without has upward facing speakers as you have. This is why I go over how important it is to read the seller's description to make sure that you are getting the Chromebook that will work best for you. You have 8GB of RAM, awesome! Mine came with 4GB and a 128GB storage, again.. many configurations. About the spreadsheet idea, awesome. But this video was just reviewing 3 different Acer CBX15, and letting the consumer know what those numbers and names mean. That is what I had that segment on CPU names and how to interpret them. I hope you get to watch the video again, so that you would not be confused. Thank you for the comment. My last one, my spare on the shelf, is the same 15" 315 that you made videos about that convinced me that Chromebooks were the way to go! @@johnblackledge4009 I am happy to help. The last words that a teacher ever wants to hear is ... "That was confusing.." I was sadden when I heard that because my whole goal in that video was to make it simple to understand. I watched the video about a hundred times ,doing the edits, revising the script, making the diagrams, practicing my lines. I made it a point for my students to be aware of which CPU, RAM, and storage they are really buying as there are so many configurations, it can get all too confusing, until you realize just how Intel names their CPUs. The Pentium Celeron names normally a "N" in front to let the buyer know that it is a Notebook or Netbook CPU and it uses less power. For all current era Intel CPUs, the first number is the CPU generation. So a 3 means, 3rd generation. a 4 means that it is the 4th generatiion and so on. I do not recommend any computer that has a 3rd or older CPU. So if you see a sale of a Chromebook and the CPU names is a N3250, I would pass that one and continue looking till I saw a newer version, like a N4200, N4400 and so on. Many sellers do not add the word "Celeron" as those processors recieved a lot of negative press about 10 years ago. But the true name of these Intel CPUs is "Pentium Celeron" The Celeron chip is based on a Pentium 4 core. Celeron chips have less cache memory than Pentium 4 chips do. They still get the "Pentium Inside" label. Wow. Thank you , your words have a big impact on me. I guess I could not hear the tone in the first comment. I am happy to have a fan.
