The level of information and education garnered from these VODs is tremendous. Offers exemplary examples and details for the layman to absorb and put into action.
Feel like i have to write a short paragraph on why i should get the rope haha. Great insightful video as always Jason. Been trying to catch up with all videos since i came across your channel 3 weeks ago. Your top rope and anchor building videos have very useful. I actually saved one of them and followed it while building a top rope anchor at a cliff last week.
Been a proud sub from the start! Thanks for interacting and making content we need, you helped make my first outdoor climbing trip a success, I’m planning on taking my lead class soon so having this rope would be such perfect timing to help me and my partner progress in this sport and start building up or own gear rack. I hope I win!! 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽 thanks again!
Phenomenal video on ropes! Last season I picked up an Edelrid 8.9mm 80m for long trad adventures and holy cow those thin ropes are soooo smooth - and 80m is totally justifiable when the rope is that light! You can also link sooo many pitches that you'd never expect to link, and the extra 10m is great in case you need to cut it because it'll still be over 70m. And somehow it's still rated at 7 UIAA falls, which is just one less than most 9.8-10ish ropes!
Yeah, what you'll find as you start to get really small ropes like that that are still dynamic ropes is the core becomes more like a cord and less like a rope so they are able to maintain the same strenght but the rope can feel slightly more stiff than a larger rope that has more "rope" characteristics vs. "cord". Sounds like it's working for you!
been subbed for a while, here’s a comment. been wanting that exact rope for a while but it’s been out of stock! thanks for all the helpful tips in your videos, especially the anchor building and rope work/knots tutorials. helps a lot
Thanks for another great explanation on climbing gear. I learned something from you that I was not aware of and that is gym's typically use static ropes in their top rope applications. I had no idea.
Thanks for this and all other great videos. I have been binge-watching your channel for the last week. I think it's easy to buy the wrong stuff for your activities in climbing so videos like this really helps.
Ive been watching some of your videos lately, and they have been helpful. I'm currently working on trad skills, and getting in to multipitch climbing. Its about time to retire my current sport climbing rope, so that rope would be super useful to me.
Good info in this and all the videos lately, been subbed for a while! If you have ever gotten rained on at the crag or on trail with rope strapped on the outside of your pack and had to carry that wet rope a distance, you'll know what I mean 😁 I would argue that dry treated ropes have a place anywhere outdoors, and not just in alpine conditions. Many non-dry ropes are significantly less money, so if someone can only get one rope and a standard rope is what one can afford to get out climbing, then go for it! I know I can find a place for a standard 9.8mm in my current rope stable, to take some abuse on sunny days and keep others in the bag to climb another time.
I wish I had seen this cute video about three weeks ago, I spent a couple of days researching ropes! I still haven’t bought my first, I started leading only a few months ago and this is my first season climbing outside so I have been watching. Lot of videos, your content has been invaluable, so thank you for that.
Thanks, I had a similar experience when trying to purchase 1/2 ropes so that was one of the reasons I made video. I couldn't find concise information to make a purchase. Glad the content helped.
Hey JP, Your name came up in the drawing for the rope winner! Can you list your email or form of contact here in the contacts and I can contact you for mailing address, etc.
Great work! Love the content. Been climbing for a few years but I still learn something new when watching your videos. I'm trying to introduce you to my friends as well. Thanks for the videos.
Just recently found your videos and they have been massively helpful as someone who is looking to start outdoor climbing! Hope to see your channel grow more
My first rope is a 60m Mammut 9.6mm. My second rope is a 80m beal rope a friend and I purchased it and split down the middle. So we each got a 40m rope. It’s great for the gym and some crags at Sand Rock. It is 9.4mm
Wow, I feel like you really answered my questions here that I posted on the groover climbs. Really cleared up why I should not double up two single ropes too! Thanks for the insight and great vids!
Very nice video, helpful comment on why not to use a single rope in a twin rope scenario. I guess I'll need dedicated twin ropes now, even if I win that crag classic ;)
Recently found your channel. Looking to transition from sport to trad climbing. You've got lots of great info. Loved the video on your trad rack. Keep making more vids!
Very very great video, not only you demonstrated the specific feature of each rope, such as parameters, usage situation, but also told us the reason under the hood. Hope I can catch up the next giveaway and compete for the prize(lol).
Hope to win the rope is the only piece of equipment I haven't been able to budget for as a full time dad. Love your videos they keep me and my son entertained when we are stuck home and we have both learned so much.
Thanks very much for your videos so well explained 😊I just started to climb 6 months ago and I do have a lot of information and technics to learn. I had watched few of your videos and I have already learn a lot of precious things!!! I will certainly continue to watch them as my « education » will continue. Merci beaucoup!!😇
Bought my first rope a few months back. 70m 10.2mm diameter because it was the cheapest 70m (need the length for upcoming multipitch plans). It’ll definitely be heavy when I get the chance to get out on multi pitches though
been subscribed from the beginning of rock climbing videos. Here coz I like the content and I have given feedback 2-3 time as I want to have these videos as "how to ______" video series for referring any time I need to re-learn something. Hope to win the Mammut Crag Classic 60m climbing rope! Thanks!
! Good stuff (i want the rope). I have heard that it is okay to lead on two singles in a double rope context when you are clipping each one into different pieces of gear so that they are independant from each other. whats your opinion on that?
Fan here! Has anyone ever top roped with a static rope? I’ve only seen static cords used in autobelay, but I’ve never heard about anyone actually belaying with static rope. Seems dangerous
I'd love a new rope (I run a volunteer climbing volunteer group called Climbing Adventures - Melbourne so I take people out frequently) but I'm in Australia, so it would cost a lot to send. Best if luck to all who enter
Too much inaccuracy in your vids. There are alot of good Videos on YT no need to do worse ones. Everything below 100 percent accurate, is a no go. You are no rope Specialists,so don't say so. All this YT content to make easy money really pisses me Off, if it is not really good. Watched a few of your vids, every single on not really nailed it.
Marcus, my channel is designed to create a space of learning. There have been many times people have highlighted inaccuracies in my videos in the spirit of learning more and sharing vs. trying to put me down. If you would like to share some constructive ideas on ropes I didn't cover, that would be appreciated. I'll share one inaccuracy in your post: It's not easy to make money on YT, if it was, everyone would do it. I do this channel because I like sharing and learning and giving people the confidence to try and get outside and climb.
That's awesome you are doing giveaways already hopefully everyone is also leaving a like! I got my rope because it was on sale it is a 70m BD 9.2mm and man it feeds almost a little too smoothly through the gri gri lol.
@@summitseekersexperience I've noticed mine does have a tendency to kink up more than my friends sterling rope. I feel like I'm having to flake my rope out more often
