I believe it will be Duke. Lots of signs she wants to stay in North Carolina. Exciting young coach. Rumors education is important. Rumors she wants to play with Roberson. Look at their roster. Lots of young and talented pieces. There's no reason to believe this team can't contend for titles if Strong joins. I said she wants to stay in North Carolina. I would be stunned if she chose UNC. They are an older team. They underachieved this season. They have underachieved a lot under this coach. Banghart might just be a good recruiter and a lousy head coach.Does an elite prospect really want to tie their future to a question mark like her? UConn has gone all in on this recruitment. And they have made it clear to Strong from the beginning that they want her. I think it is between Duke and UConn to tell you the truth.
The injuries this season ended up accelerating the development of the uconn freshmen. Shade and Arnold were forced into starter roles, and the recent injury to Edwards forced Brady to play through her confidence struggles.
I agree UConn is injury university for players because of Geno stubborn ole fashion coaching style. Geno would physically run Strong into the ground. Strong probably would dominant the Big East Conference, but the competition and exposure would be in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Bottom line anybody but UConn.
@@cinquebleuu9408 Many of Uconn's recent injuries were non-contact. Paige, Azzi, Aubrey at least. Not sure about Ayanna or Jana. Amari, Aliyah, and Caroline were contact injuries. I think Geno needs to do a better job evaluating recruit's prior injury history before making offers.
Do you know how UTTERLY DUMB you all sound talking about injury history at UConn? Geno, the program, nor the training staff have nothing to do with the injuries. Injuries happen in sports…PERIOD. It’s just unfortunate that UConn has been hit with so many. Currently, they have 5 injured players. Jana El Alfy’s injury happened playing for Egypt. She has yet to play one game for UConn. Ayanna Patterson’s patella tendinitis has been an issue since high school. Caroline Ducharme has experienced multiple concussions due to in game contact. Azzi’s knee injury was first suffered during her sophomore year in high school and has been reinjured twice in college due to in game contact last year (ND, Georgetown) and a simple practice rep (non contact) this year. Aubrey’s injury this year was also non contact. Paige injured her knee last year in a voluntary pick up game prior to the season. So, tell us….HOW are the injuries Geno’s fault??? I’LL WAIT.
Its either Duke or Uconn. When we talk about injuries several of Uconn players had Acl knee injuries prior to enrolling. Azzi and Aubrey had those same injuries. It either she bleeds blue or don't. I hope its the Huskies.
Eenie, meenie, miney, moe. What a dilemma Sarah Strong. If she leans towards academics, it's easily Duke. If she leans towards NIL, guarantee Final Four, and championships it's easily UCONN.
Consider this... 'UConn did not have a scholarship available to give next year until Aliyah Edwards declared for the draft (yep - look it up). With that announcement, they now have an unallocated scholarship available which MAY have been what Sarah was waiting on and would explain her delaying her decision. I'm guessing it's UConn and we'll probably hear her announce that soon.
Duke is just like LSU and South Carolina they are overloaded with forwards. They have three undergrads, two seniors that probably have covid years if they want them plus three recruits including Toby Fournier. North Carolina has three forwards and only signed a guard and a post that she probably played against in the state high school tournaments. Both of these schools are within fifty miles of her home. Connecticut needs bigs because of graduation, injuries and failed expectations. So my guess is if she wants to get in the lineup right away North Carolina is close to home and UConn could bring her a championship.
@@AnthonyTomassi-y3j For Geno to take this skeleton crew very nearly to the championship game was probably a more masterful coaching feat than most of his championship seasons.
@@rollandhawkins8311 totally agree with you. This may just be his best coaching job ever. He did more with so little than any coach I can remember and I have been watching the womans game for a very long time. Not sure why your comment was meant for me or just the post.
But is it real, athletes appears to get favorable grades, if the GPA is true she should go to UConn so can use the education after the playing time is in few short years.
@@RustyLou18 Still do, Lopez transferred in last year from a mid-major and went number 5 in the draft. People erroneously think winning titles makes one pro-ready, it doesn't, pro-ready is based on individual development, not team accomplishments.
@@RustyLou18 still does. if Paige decided to go this year instead of staying he would have probably 2 of the top 5 picks being drafted this year. It's dumb asses who are just haters that think this guy cant coach. He took a depleted team this year to the final 4 and had it not been for a questionable call with3.9 seconds left may have been in the title game. He constantly comes up with game plans that hold teams they face 20 points under there average. Ask Iowa who averaged 90 a game and scored 71 in the final 4. Yep they still won I get it but he still came up with a plan to shut them down. He does it all the time. it's the dumb ass fans that dont know shit about the game who think the guy cant coach. But every really good coach out there he goes up against constantly reminds us of how good he is. After all there's is the opinion you have to value because Staley, Mulkey, VanDeveer, and many more consistently remind us how good he is. So he has not got a natty since 2016 7 of the last 8 years he has still had his team in the final 4. the last three of 4 years has done it with his best players on the bench for the season.
I always thought it would be UConn since it was the first school she visited. I’m not sure why she’s waiting so long to commit. Maybe she’s waiting to see what Edwards will do? I like the comments regarding Duke, an excellent choice. I think Kara Lawson is building a very strong program- no pun intended. I guess we’ll just have to stay tuned.
DUKE, hands down, but I'm disappointed that she opted out of South Carolina. Just shows me that she's not willing to be a TEAM player, she wants to start and South Carolina has unselfish players who know their worth start or not.
so much you knew.LOL Close to home could still be UConn if you know your geography at all you would know UConn is only a 8-9 hour drive away so its not like the 600 miles is that far from home. It is much farther from Duke but really close enough to be close to home.
Does it really matter, whereever she goes and if LSU, Duke, UConn or North Carolina are the team. My money is on Carolina not losing to her and that goes if she picks that other team from North Carolina, North Carolina State. She going for education or WNBA?
First off losing Cardoso is going to make a huge difference and Strong on a healthy Uconn team cant be counted out. So if Sc were to lose they wouldn't be losing to Strong they would be losing to UConn as a team. Dont give me the past yeah SC beat UConn. but if your going to do that UConn owned SC for a few years before that. What I am saying is UConn at full strength with 6'5" Jana & Strong along with Paige Azzi shade KK Patterson and griffin all healthy along with the other 2 5 star guards they have coming in will be able to play with anybody that includes SC who I also think will be a very talented team in there own right.
You can get hurt anywhere but going to UConn increases those odds greatly. Not sure why UConn’s player have so many season ending injuries. She has to get her body and fitness together as any freshman would but handling the ball so much
That last statement is why she not going to South Carolina Lady Gamecocks, physical fitness program at Carolina may not be good fit for her with all that hard work just to sit the bench. Even Boston lost weight before becoming a superstar but she had a spot for her to play Sarah Strong will not.
@@kenichitamagusuku3194 ScC is not a good fit but the other programs may not either. She’s likely to get hurt at UConn due to the short bench and how they practice… I also saw the trio of Paige HVL Clark Play in the 17/18u games and were ranked in that order Fast forward to today, the ranking is Clark, Paige and Clark My point is she will need to develop over her career and her body type and size is not guaranteed to dominate at the pro level. We’ll see
@@kenichitamagusuku3194 why do people come on here and make such asinine comments. There off season work outs and there practices themselves are some of the toughest in college. Patterson, Azzi, DuCharme even Paige came out of high school suffering various injuries. UConn has the of the best trainers in the industry. There programs have improved. How do you explain all those years where they did not have injuries. You freakin idiots all come on here and think SC is the only one with great fitness programs. If you watch the development of UConn players along with a ton of other programs you can see how the players add muscle from year to year. If you know anything about anatomy know that knees in woman are not near as stable as males. That is because there knee is much more narrow than a mans. Knee injuries are significantly higher among female basketball players than their male counterparts. As far as Boston goes she really didn't loose that weight until between her sophomore and junior years. If you look at her now after 1 year in the WNBA she looks even better.
Sarah strong will be in page Buckner shadow going to uconn just like Aliyah Edwards...go to college where you appreciated not tolerated....and I'm from Connecticut
She's a Freshman. Starting on a team full of stars would be validation enough. Afterwards 3 full years as the star of UConn would be huge for her brand.
thats a pretty ignorant statement she gets to play with one of the best players in the game for one year. Why wouldn't you do that. As far as Edwards she is in her shadow so much she is predicted to be the #5 pick in the draft and has signed a huge sponsorship by Adidas. For some people its who is going to prepare me to play at the next level and likee him or not Geno is still sending players into the WNBA.
@@AnthonyTomassi-y3j 🤡 aliyah Edwards got the # 5 pick because if her talent .. Buckner didn't make her good 🤡her talent did which she will carry with her to the Wnba....
Wish Colorado could get a player like this. They missed out on home grown talent like Betts and Beers. And with Vonlegh and Miller's time wrapping up, they need another dominating paint presence.
Sarah Strong next seems like a huge complimentary piece as a freshman, but not a 25ppg instant star, like Hildago or Juju. Going to a stacked team like UConn would be best. NC State makes the most sense basketball wise. She would be the best player, with plenty of help around her but I feel she would've made that decision months ago. I believe she doesn't want to be THE focal point and playing next to Bueckers would be ideal for her development. I think South Carolina has an outside shot, with the departure of Cardoso looming, but Pao Pao's return was the final nail in the coffin. LSU was never a serious option in my opinion.
okay my only question is why you would be comparing Sarah a post player to the 2 premier freshman guards in JuJu and Hildago. Not being a wise as I just don't get the comparison.
The post coming to duke (21) is from where I live! She’s a big deal here. I’ve seen a few clips from Her and defensively she’s huge she towers over everyone in hs so obviously she’s big on offense too. She’s athletic as she also plays volleyball. I’ll be seeing her at our cities all star game come March 24th and I’ll come back and report how she did 😂❤
@@maxpower247 You were right, Sarah Strong is headed to the "Basketball Capital of The World...Bleed Blue Sarah's main reason is, "I want to play at the next level." UConn without a doubt has a reputation for creating pro-ready players, it doesn't mean a title every year, but they will have a shot at reaching their end goal in their chosen sport.
@@RustyLou18 Yeah ya cant win won every year. There is so much parity in the game now year after year it's pretty hard to do. Fact is Paige has only played 2 years and both years she has gone to final 4 1 year to the final Azzi has played 1 1/2 years so let's see what happens if this team can actually stay healthy. This year if they didn't have 5 on the bench that would have either started or would have played significant minutes. Sc would have been the only team with a shot. So I guess for now UConn fans will have to fall back on having 11 nattys the only team close would be Tennessee. Next year if healthy they will be tough again with there frontline set and guards galore. Having Azzi, Paige, Shade on the floor at the same time will be fun to watch. I mean SC got bounced with a powerhouse team last year so goes to show how hard it is. but anyone with the basketball IQ above moron would know this.
Wish she would choose SC esp with her Carolina family ties. But also, to many big time players to try to compete with. or really I guess it comes down to if she was willing to wait her turn and play as a sub for the first year or so. Either way, she is a good player and will be a starter anywhere shew goes. Good luck young lady
She is to young to be that big. Trim off pounds and your skills will increase just like Barkley did. Your quickness and speed will also increase. Eat right!
Sarah Strong was interviewed by espn last night before the McDonald's All-American game. During the interview, she was asked what would go into your decision to pick a school. She said that one factor would be picking a "school close to home." Does this mean Duke or NC? Or, does it mean being close to her mom, who works for the Celtics org? Did she possibly show her hand during this interview?
Someone, anyone pls let me know what the class of 24 means. Is she starting college in Fall 24 or is she starting her senior high school year in Fall 24?
There some of the most highly respected trainers in the business. If you know anything about womans anatomy you know that woman basketball players are 10 times more susceptible to ACL tears than men. Because of the narrowness of there knees. Also quite a few of these players came out of high school having already suffered injury. I can name stars from Texas Notre dame Iowa Virgina Tech all having had season ending injury. It's not trainers its anatomy. But I guess you heard its UConn so much for educated guess's.
