For those who don't understand, it's a Polish internet meme, a Polish inside joke. The Polish phrase, "Polska górą" literally means "Poland [is a] mountain", but non-literally it means something like "Poland on top". This phrase was said by a famous Polish athlete, Mariusz Pudzianowski during an interview after he won some sort of an international weight-lifting competition (if I'm not mistaken). Due to the "funny way" of him saying this phrase, which sounded rather like "Polska górom", people have started to write it incorrectly ("Polska Gurom") and then have jokingly translated it to "Poland Mountain", which is quite frequently used by Polish people on the internet, whenever Poland is mentioned.
I'm kind of happy we managed to stay in the top 10 despite the fact that many Russian players had to stop playing due to being unable to maintain their subscriptions, thus there also won't be an influx of new Ru players in the near future because even if they want to get into geo competitively, it is quite hard to pull of without using third-party sources that ask for account credentials and purchase subscriptions for you, which is especially scary when you have a verified account that can simply get hijacked and resold. Luckily I'm still able to play thanks to getting a gift card for my birthday. Literally can't imagine not being able to play lol
Bro the editing is actually amazing, that combined with the discussion, the interesting commentary and ur personality, you shouldve definately been at 100k a while ago, this goes for all your recent videos btw. Great ideas for videos too, these are all things I'm trying to do with my content too, just know thaty you inspire other geoguessr content creators to do great things too. Keep it up, youre doing great things for the community bro, cant wait to see u in stockholm :D
A teams WC would be awesome to see. I know there was an unoffical one in 2022 but that was before I started following GG that closely. Maybe after the upcoming tournament there could be WCs for solo and country teams on alternating years.
No, I Mean, I am for example I am a bit good at Kyrgyzstan, so you could say wether I am a skilled player if I am good at that country. So I think for example players that are good at Russia are skilled
I feel like a well produced geoguessr world cup with team format would be an awesome way to get more players on the stage, however I reckon that it is too expensive for geoguessr to fly out many more players than they already currently do. Secondarily I also think that 1v1's have a lot more hype and suspense around them than team events, which gives it a better appeal to the general public. I'm interested in seeing if it will ever happen
Question for the QnA: What is the most bang for buck thing to learn to improve in geoguessr (poles, camera, google cars, etc) for upper beginner/ intermediate players who know all the basic stuff like which countries are covered, checking hemispheres, etc.
I'm actually surprised to see Russia on this list. Not because of low skills, but because you can't just simply play being in Russia, you cannot purchase anything due to sanctions. If you want to play, you have to look for sertain ways (what many people around the globe can make in 1 click). Hope one day everything becomes normal, as it once used to be
Not sure if Canadian player PAV wasn't counted for Canada because he changed his flag ("country") to Quebec instead of Canada. Not that Canada would have necessarily made the top 10 countries even with PAV counted.
Not to make someone do more math, but this would be interesting to see it take into account population, The States is huge, of course they're going to be #1. Poland was a surprise, but I do end up playing a lot of Polish players, now that I think about it.
@BuMPiHD yeah he would've played in the EMEA regionals if not for exams. he will most certainly be a wildcard pick considering his top 4 finish at WC 2023.
Sennzai was a shared account for about 5 months. The owner allowed someone to play ranked on it while he exclusively played normal games and unranked (he is somewhat of a beginner). This changed a few days ago when the owner decided to take back the account and go on an nmpz winstreak in ranked. As I'm sure you know, many of the guesses looked very scripted bc he would guess as close as possible in a neighboring country or region that made no sense. He claims he was not scripting but rather getting coached by a third person (pretty sure he's lying). Tldr: the higher skilled player he was sharing the account with did NOT play the games that got it banned.
it's quite isolated compared to most of the rest of the world. and a relatively small population, so many of the big data service providers may not be too keen to colocate data centers there as well as it would be very expensive for a relatively small population
Well, the ranking is reeeeeally random : I'm french so I went on the leaderboard today to check where is Blinky... He is 1st with 1758, and Kratsooo isn't on the leader board at all. If it depends on the games the player played in competitive in the last week, it's kind of poor. Wich mod are you using? It seems it's available on the normal interface. A bit disapointed by all of this... sorry
I'm not usually patriotic because it's typically associated with the crown/commonwealth in my country (Canada) but in this case... WE'RE #1 GET REKT NOOBS, WE'RE COMING FOR YOU, CANADA FTW BEAVERS AND SHIT WOOOOO 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
well to be fair, like 99% or more of American residents are decended from immigrants within just a few generations. the country itself barely 250 years old. there are not too many native Americans. so a large amount of people still identify with their family heritage from before immigrating
@@zi8gzagI think you could try an improved version of this where you a) add the obvious missing players, basing your estimate of their rank on their performance in Rainbolt’s dailies (for nmpz) and on performance in the Leagues (cactus league etc - Jake could help here) for moving. b) to counter the potential impact of estimate a, expand the list to top 20.
china gonna be high because in china you first play the crappy chineese geoguessr knockoff then you play the real one only when ur good (maybe? idk) dammit i suck but the portugal honourable mention was cool (i'm portuguese)
gotta be brutally honest. seeing the US population listed as 26 million is making me question all the rest of the data presented. but overall interesting video idea.
