It's good to hear that from a Zimbabwean. I thought there was bad blood between the citizens of our two countries. I pray Zimbabwe prospers because a prosperous Zimbabwe will even facilitate even better relations between both our citizens. South Africans in general regard Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho and Eswatini as family but are always reluctant when it comes to Zimbabwe because they see them as a liability. I also remember 2003 when we were going for a football tournament in Norway so we passed through SA as a transit destination, since we were minors the officials at the airport had to make sure we were not being trafficked. So they did an interview with us without our team's management and there was a team mate of mine there who's last name was Khumalo. All the officials were shocked and they started calling each other to see my team mate with all smiles and happiness,😂

But we know when one is not South Africa. We can spot a foreigner from a distance.

I agree, the best country is your country. We should learn to live our countries and stop thinking that the grass is greener on the other side. We should engage in business in our countries, create job opportunities and do our own small part to contribute to economic development in our own African countries.

South Africans know nothing about their country. They start appreciating it once they move to another country. I started appreciating it when I left as well . It’s funny that I was even complaining about our roads ( only to find out that we have the second best roads in Africa) . I think I used to complain about our music too 😭😭. And then when I moved , I would get people who would tell me how much they love our music and I didn’t understand why 😂😂

It’s difficult to explain Wizzie. But in short, you have to be very resilient to live in my country. But if you are already well off you’ll enjoy it. And l do understand that in infrastructure we are still quite well off compared to a number of our fellow Afrikan countries…so it can be puzzling to others why we’d want to leave. The short answer is, our economy is functioning at 10-30% of where it should actually be.

We have lots of ralatives in South Africa who look after us. They send money, food and clothes. That is why we have people called malaitsha who bring goods and money from relatives in South Africa. It's an economic decision.
