Which FACTION to play FIRST? - Warhammer 3 

My two options: 1) BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD 2) SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE

Tzeentch obviously, that way when I lose I can just say “all part of the plan”

Another reason why Kislev is #1 for a lot of people is because of the game's main trailer, which is also the most popular video for Warhammer Fantasy.

I typically like the flexible playstyles, but I am into hooves. Decisions decisions.

Kislev and Cathay. There’s just something about playing human factions against all the other supernatural monster factions - I LOVE IT

Nurgle reminds me a lot of the Vampire Counts if their whole focus was on their zombies and the zombies themselves were even tankier and actually ok in melee

I'm surprised how well distributed is the pie chart at the end. All 7 factions seem to catch interest. I'm definitely digging all starting races and will play all Lords.

Katarin's campaign is literally designated as the recommended first campaign by CA, so if you just want a somewhat vanilla first experience of the game while you learn all the new general mechanics of WH3, the map and similar, that's probably your best bet

Tzeentch is my go-to. I just love the image of the enemy commanders shaking their fists at the sky and screaming in impotent rage as I internet troll my way to victory.

I think I will do as always. I will play every faction for 15 turns and pick one to go on first.

Just realised that CA never showed us Slaanesh (or Nurgle I suppose) in a siege setting... dreading some pretty easy cheese with those half naked corpses lined up on the walls...

Cathay and Kislev are the two I'm most interested in. I've always enjoyed factions where you can set up an infantry wall with powerful ranged and artillery behind it, so Cathay is perfect for that. I've always loved hybrid infantry as well, so Kislev interests me for that angle. The ice magic also looks cool.

Everyone: "I can't wait to play all these new factions!" Me: "Finally grudges will be settled!"

I'm playing Kislev first for the same reason that I played Empire first for WH1, and High Elves first for WH2; because they're the first faction in the roster, pretty much. They're good introduction factions to the game.

I want to play ogre kingdoms first but i believe i read their campaign goal will be very different and im thinking i should play another faction for the "story" first? probably cathay or slaanesh... hard to resist the mountain boys though. they are my tabletop army afterall.

It's a tough choice. I love the idea of watching a bloodthirsters and demons on dirt bikes rip into enemies sounds fun, but Kairos flying over the enemy and blowing them up with powerful magic sounds cool too...on the other hand, obliterating infantry with chariots could be fun...Nurgle sounds cool, too. Cathay could be amazing with the combo of humans, dragons, constructs, powerful magic, flying artillery. Ogres...don't really speak to me, but I do like their monsters models. Kislev doesnt scream exciting to me, at all.

I am thinking of startinf as Kislev or Cathay first because of the story, you probably get the best experience from one of the good guys first

Personally, it'll be a toss up between Cathay, Slaanesh and now Kislev. I'm crap at the game anyway, so I'm just going to go what looks the most fun/coolest and I love the aesthetic of all three.

I'm torn between Tzeentch and Nurgle. I think Tzeentch has the most interesting campaign mechanics, but I might start with Nurgle for something less micro-intensive.

Cathay is looking like the most fun, plus I love the idea of Dragon LLs

I love how in the opening cinematic, you can see Skrag the Slaughterer trudging through Blue Horrors like heavy snow

It's Khorne for me. Melee fights, close combat, ye that's my style. I hope they made more sync kills than in previous installment.

Cathay has me it is a good fit for my playstyle and could be used in interesting ways other then aesthetics it generally fits my style.

Sounds like I'll be playing Cathay. I do enjoy a good defensive playstyle.

What I like about Nurgle isn't too much about the battle aspect as it is more about the campaign mechanics of the faction. Life cycles for building chains, spreading diseases to buff your units or debuff the enemy, and the unit pool having a set amount of units to recruit at a certain time seems like an interesting challenge.

If I had to choose between all the factions of the WH universe I’m definitely sticking with the elves… in general all the elves, wood elves, dark elves, high elves, elves are just so awesome, but here I guess I’ll play cathay

With the new Chaos Undivided this may need updating, cause that seem super epic

In terms of what most should play first? Kislev and Cathay are the obvious choices. Personally? I love the concept, look and feel of ogres (tabletop and in this game) so will give them a bash at first. Sidenote: Grats on so many subs now, Zerk! Been watching/subbed for ages, glad to see the channel growth mate.

I'm probably going to do Cathay then Kislev. My choices after that will depend on which faction intrigued me the most while playing.

Count me as a Cathay player, might change after seeing that devastating magic from Tzeentch on my personal battlefield.

For me its Khorne 100%. Love the Simple Carnage! Though I´m not so sure on my second Choice... Edit: Oh and I dislike Micro and Magic so... yeah.

I love super flexible armies and so I am definitely playing Kislev, then Cathay it’ll be a while before I get to ogre kingdoms

Dark elves and tomb kings stay my main factions but Kislev and Tzeentch are may warhammer 3 bois i think :)

All of the ogres are large entities. If they stand still, they'll be torn apart by ranged weapons or surrounded by rush builds. I think think they're going to be flexible unless they're fighting someone that has no idea what they're doing.

Cathay. I love gunpowder units, defensive factions, they even have dragons.

I've been a Tzeentch boy on the tabletop for a long time (only tied with my love for WE in Fantasy) so I have to give them a go first. Not looking forward to all the micro that it'll involve though, at least I can be a campaign scrub and pause when needed.

If Bel'akor and a united chaos daemon army is in the cards, that one probably. Otherwise it's a tossup between Nurgle and Tzeentch, but it is hard to say no to Skarbrand leading a giant army of nothing but Bloodthirsters though. Of the human factions, Cathay's campaign sounds more interesting than Kislev. When the closer to tabletop mod comes out though, oh boy, the Ogre Kingdoms will be on the march.

Gonna play Khorne. His mechanic look really more fun than I ever expected out of Chaos and Skullcrushers omg!

@Zerkovich I really hope CA adds more destruction animations for the Cathay War Balloons. - Right now they just fall to the ground fully inflated..? Imagine them spiralling out of control while on fire, or popping and sending the ballon in a frenzy before plummeting to the ground…

For me the first lord I want to play is the Iron dragon from Cathy but race wise the one I'm looking forward to the most is the ogre kingdoms big monsters go bash!

For the game all about chaos, im really not super intrigued by their rosters and are way more into Cathay and the ogres. Idk what it is, chaos is just way too specialised for my playstyle taste which, yeah I get is the point of them, it's just personal preference

Nurgle HAS units with ranged attacks beyond artillery. This puts it in flexible category for me.

I'm looking forward to khorne the most but that's driven solely by nostalgia for when I first picked up hordes of chaos as a kid back in 6th edition warhammer fantasy battles. I played mostly Khorne all the time. Kislev is probably a close second though cuz they just look amazing in every way.

Could you do a similar vid but for campaign? Like mechanics and all that, to have everything in one place. I am very interested in Kislev, Cathay, Khorne and Slaanesh, with nurgle and the ogres being the less interesting for me, Tzeench just slightly more interesting than those two. But the problem is that the first 4 I like a lot, so I don't know which campaign to do first. I lean more towards Khorne or Slaanesh. Slaanesh seems pretty micro intensive, hard to play. I think my first campaign will be Khorne, simple and effective.

I'm just getting into this genre, I'm currently playing 2 factions with friends: Alith Anar for the Ambush-play; and Gor Rok to be a bit of a bully. I want to play a horde faction next.

Im quite new to total war warhammer so I started what game, internet and my friends suggested to me. First normal campain Cathey, then Khorne and Kislev. First faction in immortal empire campain I started Greenskins and it was quite easy af. No difficult buildings, no difficult fights. They just have a lot of units so I was puzzled what to bring in battles. But once I started raiding I got so much money I got several armies to support me and then snowballed through. I was playing on normal though

Slaanesh Demons (or Undivided with Slaanesh focus) will probably be the first for me. I also plan on running a multiplayer campaign parallel, where I will most likely give Kislev a go :)

I plan to play Ogres first more for the memes than anything, but I reckon I'll enjoy Kislev and Cathay when I get to playing them too.

The overall character and impression of the ogre kingdoms seems like a fairly simplistic force, like orcs or goblins. Likewise for Khorne. Zero character, just kill/burn etc. That's not exactly exciting roleplay. I don't know what to make of slaanesh or tzeentch, at least with tzeentch that makes sense (their whole thing is about being mysterious). But the playstyle required for the slaanesh armies seems a bit intimidating and given how fast combat is in warhammer 2 I don't think it will be that fun to play a rush faction that likes kinky stuff. Cathay has some interesting stories hidden in there and they're much easier to relate to than the other factions. And of course being human helps with developing some more interesting story hooks. But CA have screwed up with human factions before so I'm not holding my breath. Nurgle are pretty unique. That's all I have for them. I'm not really sure why the people in the poll love nurgle perhaps the strange model designs are helping them or something??? I don't think they'll be that interesting storywise anymore than khorne or the ogre kingdoms. Kislev have the advantage of being relatable to warhammer 2 in some capacity and I think a lot of people wanted to see them get a bit of an upgrade in warhammer 2. And still do, despite everything. Bear cavalry are an old meme that lots of people want to see happen. Also helps they're fairly close to the old world so there's some easy transitions to be made. I think a lot is hingeing on daemon factions being interesting here. The lack of ties between the old world and this one really hurt any interest I have in it. I can't ride settra into the demon hells, I can't take the high elves on some lofty quest to the other side of the planet, I can't use the empire to solidify the human factions. There doesn't seem to be any entry for regular dwarves to fight their opposite chaos dwarf brothers either. idk if i'm a bit cynical here but the whole setting for this game seems a bit hard to be interested in.

My choices would be Khorne or Ogres. Happy to keep up the % for those guys! :D

I feel like you could play Nurgal defensively, the whole "outlast your opponents" sounds like what a defensive player would say. If they have the health and the troop numbers, then you could build a wall of units and use your artillery to help pick off units before they get close, as a Total War vet, I can see myself using Rome strats here with a calvary flank/artillery center support tactic while my lesser troops swam about, covering all angles

I think ogre mercenaries in 2 are a bit underwhelming personally. Like they're bad to ok, and they never really stood out, so it kinda makes me go "ehh" about playing them in 3.

I will play as Zhao Ming first I reckon. But obviously I'm gonna play them all.

Interested to see if & how the ranged > all meta changes with the Chaos factions who are all melee only. Would be good for MP but I also won't lie, I quite enjoy ranged heavy armies in SP. Theres just something about gunning down hordes of enemies

I agree ogres seem mixed for campaign. Because of heavy infantry being easily countered by other human players, I think that in multiplayer defensive is probably going to be better in most match-ups (other than against the dedicated gunline factions).

I'll definitely play Khorne first because they are my boys. Then probably Cathay, because they are the faction I was most interested in. Then Kuslev because you just know I need my bears and winged hussars. I also am excited for the undivided demon RPG experience. And yeah, just in general all factions seem interesting

except for Khorne and Slaanesh i got every Prediction Wrong about their playstyle/placement. Thanks for enlighten me :D

I am between Kislev and Cathay. I think it depends who has the more varied and interesting start. If The Empire is playable out of the gate though, it will be extraordinarily difficult to get me to play anyone else for quite a while. 😁

Personally I can't wait to play Kislev. All factions so far look amazing. In contrast I don't know if all older factions will be able to keep up and how CA is gonna handle that.

Initially I would have said Kislev hands down but after seeing the other ones, I'm torn. I am intrigued by slaneesh except I love ranged units (play like legend often) so that will be interesting... Honestly, I'll probably do Cathay or Kislev first. Do have an affinity for human factions. *Edit: I wrote that before your poll at the end. And maybe, perhaps nurgle is real and responsible for covid....

I'm not interested in the demon factions, ordertide all the way! But if I will play one, it will probably be Khorne.

I imagine part of the reason people aren't that hyped for ogres might be that their faction aesthetic wasn't made all that interesting. Their marketing so far essentially just makes their theme "eating", which isn't exactly appealing to all that many people. They also feel very similar to greenskins with how their accents and attitudes were done so people naturally just feel more interested in things that feel more unique like Kislev and Cathay. Meanwhile their whole cave men + ice age mega fauna aesthetic was barely conveyed.

I like the look of Cathay and Kislev so either one of those will be the 2nd playthrough but i mean come on, Blood for the Blood God dontcha know

i see all those monsters, ogres, all this crazy shit chaos, and i wonder, how freaking crazy are gonna be the Dawi that will rise to fight these things.

My plan is to pick a chaos Faction and then pick one of the other three factions. Slaanesh is the chaos faction due to them having diplomacy and the speed. As a players, I like making allies even though allies suck in the current Warhammer games. (Hopefully this changes). The non-chaos faction is a harder choice. Definitely debating primarily between Kislev and Cathay. Though the Ogre Boiz could come through with an upset. Don't think the Ogre's will support diplomacy as much as Kislev or Cathay. Still have time to figure it out though. And if anyone has suggestions, feel free!
