I use a slider hitch , you have to pay attention to trailer tires turn tight will break the bead off the tire rim ,

Always remember to check your tail gate clearances when using the slider hitch...can't stress that enough.

I’m seeing lots of hotshot trucks and trailers being slightly to long with 40 foot trailer.. some dot are not very compassionate of this non cdl set up … maybe this hitch will stop people having to take the beds off the truck to become usable

Thank you for sharing this video. Only question is should the part of the hitch that goes in the Ford puck system can it be lubed or should it be lubed? Thank you in advance.

@Angel the parts that go into the puck system don’t need to be lubed for operating. I do not have lube on mine. If you wanted to put something like a WD-40 Specialist Dry lube on to make sure there you don’t get rusting issues it wouldn’t hurt. You wouldn’t want a lube like grease because it can attract dirt and make it worse than no lube when the dirt builds up. -Steve This is the WD-40 Dry Lube I use on the RV locks and hinges: amzn.to/3iQpqz5

Standard on 8' bed and forward slider on 6.75' both had 44.5"? Were these measurements on the same trailer? If that's the case, then the 6.75' truck should have the same max turning angle.

Both of the hitches are shown in an 8’ bed. The slider hitch was purchased to be used in a 6.5’ bed and wasn’t shown in this video.

I hear a lot of people complaining about backing up with a slider hitch? Is it harder? More awkward? Appreciate your time

D.M. In my opinion backing up is easier with a fifth wheel vs a travel trailer. A slider fifth wheel could be challenging with an auto sliding hitch since the trailer will move in the bed of the truck as you turn. A manual slider like the B&W would change the pivot point back 12” which would change the turning radius slightly but I can’t see it being any harder than the standard hitch. I use a standard hitch with my long bed truck so I can’t give a hands on example but my brother hasn’t had an issue using the slider in his short bed. -Steve

Would the slider hitch be directly over axle. When hauling.. it looks to be to far forward all the way up

Pyroman, when the slider is in the forward position, it is over top the rear axle. The hitch can be adjusted to be 3” or 1” ahead of the axle centerline. I run mine at 1” ahead. -Steve

@@pyroman49wedd86 yes a slider hitch will save you from having to replace the back window in your truck. Make sure you get the hitch that matches your truck. GM switched puck styles a few years ago.

After you slid the trailer back, you forgot to show us how much clearance you had with the tailgate & pinbox ☹️. I have a Curt 5th wheel hitch. I'm converting it to a slider hitch very soon, and I am concerned about the pinbox hitting the tailgate

We did the comparison on both hitches on our 8’ bed. I’m with my brother right now who has a 6.5’ bed and the slider hitch. I’ll try to get measurements for you in the next few days.

@@RadarRoadWarriors Thank you. My issue is the my truck his high, causing me to tow the 5th wheel trailer nose high. I don't want to raise the hitch higher than it already is. But if I use the slider hitch, I may have to increase the height of the hitch, so the pinbox doesn't hit the tailgate.
