Which GoPro Position for Motorcycle Riding? Comparing Chin Mounted Camera Positions - Up or Down?

I've seen motorcycle riders and MotoVloggers mount their action cameras in all sorts of different configurations. I like mine on a chin mount but I wasn't sure if I should switch to mounting the camera upside down so I gave it a try. I figured I'd make this short comparison video for you all to see the differences.
I'd love to get your opinion on it as well, which one looks better, mounted right side up, or upside down?

I think if the ride is about the road, upside down is the better view. If the ride is about sight seeing, the right side up seem to me to be the better view. Benefits to both. A cool technique to think about when I start recording my rides.

ya, for sure there are pros and cons to each. Good point though if I do a ride where the focus is the scenery and mountains and such, might be good to put it right side up.

I do like seeing the speedo more in the upside down one but it does take away from the scenic/sky viewing. I wonder if there is a slight/slightly wider angled lense or setting? Otherwise they both look alright . Keep up the good videos. I'm sitting here in central NH in the middle of winter enjoying your summer riding! Nice job synching them up.

Thanks! Glad you're enjoying the videos and I'm ready for this snow to go away already so I can get back out there. That's ok though gives me some time to order new parts - thinking of a rear spring upgrade, the stock one is a little too "pogo stick like" for me.

I think most of difference is in the aiming, you could aim the upper mount down more to get a similar field of view. I like it up, but I do that so I can see the red light knowing it is recording. I stop/start recording while riding a lot.

Ya for sure, I could cut out some of the horizon and it would show more dash. I have to look in my mirror to double check if it's recording anyway, haha.

Boy, that's a tough call... they both have plusses but I think I prefer the upside-down better, because it shows your dash. If you had a faired bike I'd say right side up.

@@skydcontrol You're welcome! I love seeing other people test things out in their videos - it's something I post quite a bit myself :D

I must say, they both have uses. The upside down angle gives a little more "on the bike" feel to the video. The right side up is a better scenic view though. I could watch either one really. 👍

That seems to be the consensus and so I'm gonna try to keep that in mind for when I take scenic rides in the mountains and stuff like that, I'll flip it back right side up. Thanks for the input!

I prefer the upside down perspective on this bike! :-)

This seems to be the winning choice, myself included. Was worth testing it out for sure, now to get my hands on a polarizer for this camera.
