So I've been part-timing at Lowes here in Texas and after this snow storm, everyone was raving about PEX pipe. I don't know how how you feel about explosions but a challenge between PVC, CPVC, PEX and that grey PVC or whatever it is, would be nice. Or SharkBites compared to other brands. Maybe even the glues? A simple hydraulic press rig would help you blow up some pipe, I'm thinking.

My brother once got a set of free bits as an extra with an already pretty cheap drill. I tried one of the masonry bits in regular concrete, and it didn't even make it through one hole before becoming a blunt stick. I guess the chisel was made from chewing gum or something…

I tried drilling a hole in a proper masonry brick (not a concrete paver) with a cheap carbide bit in a non-hammer drill. In about 20 seconds, it made maybe a 1/8" divot in the brick before turning into a round metal GLOWING stick.

As I've mentioned in other videos you've uploaded, my wife and I recently bought a house - brick with concrete basement walls. Even the interior upstairs walls are stucco on wire mesh on drywall. Hence, I quickly realized that an impact driver was going to be my best friend. After a few fails and re-buys of bits, I've found that milwaukee and diablo both became my go-to. They're not only fast, but I've been able to keep using the same bit for hole after hole without worrying about dulling. They're more expensive, yeah, but I get more durability from them. Thanks again for uploading!

I was walking through the automotive section at Walmart yesterday and thought of Project Farm when I saw the fuses. I wonder if there is a way to test fuses? Maybe to see if they pop at the advertised amperage, compare brands as such etc. Maybe you can come up with some kind of interesting test/shoot-out for them. Also ratchet straps maybe?

Fuses don't just pop at a defined value - they _hold_ at the specified value and open somewhere in a fairly wide time range depending on the degree of overcurrent. Ambient conditions have a significant impact on this. Testing this is of course possible but very involved. Just buy reputable fuses..

I like that you did a test on an old piece of concrete. As you saw that makes a huge difference! I work with precast concrete and we have different mixes to end up with different strengths, but we typically don't exceed a 28-day strength of 7,000 psi.

I always love your test videos - meticulous preparation, isolate the variables. The hardened concrete might not have been a fair test though - I can see flint in the aggregate of that piece, and most masonry bits won't go through flint so there's a bit of luck as to whether or not each drillbit hits flint. You really need a diamond bit to cut through flint cleanly, but you can sometimes smash your way through with a decent SDS drill and bit (although you won't get many holes out of the bit!)

Love the video but a variable that is difficult to account for in your testing and likely skewing a portion of the results is the aggregate in the 2 inch old hard concrete test. Some bits are likely striking the aggregate flush while others may not, the aggregate stone is likely much harder than the concrete it encases. The most accurate results are with the materials that are uniform throughout.

That would extremely tough as there way too many variables. A type or brand of seed that does well in his area may not do well in yours. For example, here in the southeast, St. Augustine grows excellent in Florida but struggles to make it through even mild winters of upstate South Carolina. You could get it to grow great in alot of places during summer, but it may completely die over winter.Though I would love him test this, simply because I love seeing his testing methods. Your best bet is probably to talk to several local landscapers and see what they recommend. I say several to find the commonalities and weed out the BS. Or find a local horticulture/agriculture program. Some colleges will have free info on their websites through the horticulture department.
