for those that wants to know what's my take on data privacy. This is what i shared in one of the comments below. If you visit my linkedIn profile, I came from a IT background and currently working at one of the biggest cloud companies, but I'm not from the security sector. Data privacy leads to network security, how well are these companies protecting their network and your data. For an enterprise, this can only be measured by what certifications they have obtained like SOC 2, HIPAA, ISO27001, GDPR compliance. I don't think we want to drill down which of these companies have what certifications. Then on the topic of local vs cloud setup. An enterprise network will have not one but multi tiers of firewall protection, authentication controls, data encryption at rest and at transit. Do you think you are able to secure your network better than say Google? Then if we talk about physical security, do you think it's easier breaking into a house stealing the harddisk or microSD card on your camera, vs breaking into Google's datacenter and tapping into their storage system? It all boils down to TRUST, which company do you trust to protect their customer's data. This is my school of thoughts when it comes to home security, of course I'm sure many people don't think the same way, so no point for me to talk about this topic
Hi Alex, for Tapo camera, can view 4 camera live view at the same time by clicking this + sign at the bottom left of the live screen of any camera footage and it will go into 4 screen mode.
I using Tapo as it has Onvif. Using it connecting to my Shinobi NVR hosted on my home server for recording, and also with it's Onvif, it's easy to integrate with Home Assistant. It's tricky to set static IP for Tapo though, it somehow do not follow a standard method of IP address assignment.
Thanks for sharing! Such solution approach can just use any camera that supports onvif, makes me curious how do these companies actually price their products
@@AlexTeo I have been using Tapo & TP-Link's other product line called Vigi cameras. You're right on choosing cameras supporting Onvif. This allows more compatibility with all sorts of NVR hardware or softwares. As for setting static IP for Tapo products, you can assign IP in your DHCP Server (normally Router) to each of the cameras according to the MAC address of each camera.
Yet another great video Alex. I personally use Eufy and to be honest have never had any issues at all with both their equipment but also their customer support team if needed.
Currently using a bunch of Eufy SoloCams with built-in local storage... and the reason I avoided their HomeBase 3 is that if there's a power outage, not only your wifi will be down, but your cameras will also have downtime... I ran my SoloCams independent of HB3 so that when power goes out, my cams will still record on battery and store on local storage... I'd wish Eufy would program their HB3 and SoloCams so that in the event of a power failure, the cams will revert temporarily to local storage option instead...
have to go check on each individual product power consumption, it should be written in their standard specification... as for sensors, some of these models allow you to adjust the sensitivity level and they have a max distance
Thanks for the informative video! I am looking to install reolink before this video but it does looks risky now that they seems to start to disappear from Singapore scene. Btw do you have any contacts for any electrician that can help to pull wiring and help to install video doorbell outside the house?
Love your videos. Keep them coming.. I decided to go with Google nest for the door bell but would be nice to know if any one of the ones you reviewed supports a NAS storage for storing the videos..
Any of them can be connected and projected to a screen indoor at real time? For a home with multiple members, Better to watch through a screen near door side instead of opening phone.
budget brands such as? baby monitor is usually a packaged offering including a screen and camera easy for any parents to start using, vs doing a proper security camera setup requires more work
Green line game is strong 😂 Using tapo tc85 just for my corridor. No need too many cameras to watch at a go so not much issues. Notifications can be quite annoying though but learnt to live with it. Gotten it from sales hence decided to get it as it offers the best value for performance range at least from what ive compared. You definitely need to get the cloud for tc85 since its magnet based fixture else people can pluck and run, and theres nothing you can do about it 😂
Waiting to replace my phone already 😭 Such magnet based design cam shouls have somw anti theft accessories like the google nest cam too.. but regardless one should only ude cloud or central storage for outdoor cameras!
Never heard of meraki before... i don't think there will be a poe compatibility issue, but who knows ubiquiti might want to lock in their customers haa
@@zoom1980 the hub is usually a central storage, this is very important if you have outdoor cameras as it's a security concern to put a microSD card there
Hi Alex, can i check should we get clearance from the town council/HDB for the installation of the security cameras outside the unit first before purchase?
i don't think there is a need, similar to those people that creates a 'park' along the corridor, i don't think they ask town council whether they can do that
Hey, wanna ask how long does the Google nest doorbell battery version last per charge? Was looking at it, and also the powered version, but looking at how to get the power linked to the doorbell wires...
Hello Alex, I am going to purchase 3 unify cameras g4 bullet + swich and hub. I also want to buy a set of led strips and some electric curtain system. In you opion which smart home system should I purchase to integrate all of this. Thank you for your time Best regards, Nuno.
@@nunonobrega5090 if you like unifi protect to be integrated to your smart home system, then you have 3 choices: apple homekit with homebridge, home assistant or homey pro. In terms of setup difficulty, homey pro is the easiest to get you started
@@AlexTeo thank you so much Alex, your input is very appreciated. How will the cameras connect to the Homey pro, should I buy a specific hub from unifi? The cameras will be the g4 bullet. Regarding the Homey pro, will the tactil control be the smartphone Android, or do they have a tablet sort of equipment? If I buy Zigbee leds or alexa will they be compatible? Sorry for all the questions but smart home is all new to me. I want also motor controled curtains... and trying to see if the already installed LG ac system can be upgraded to work with this system too. I know it's a lot of info, but you are being a life safer, buddy! Thank you so much.
@@AlexTeo thank you Alex, the LG ac system is vent system that is placed in the celling through conducts. But I will try to reach out to the installer to check id we can upgrade it to wifi.... have you tested the Aqara M3 Hub? I would love to know your opinion about it.
@@nunonobrega5090 aqara hub works for aqara products only, it's not a smart home system that integrates with other products like unifi cameras and LG ac. If you are going with apple homekit or google home then you need the aqara hub for aqara devices
Disappointed that privacy isn’t covered in the comparison, this is something Alex never talks about and seems to be a crucial missing element of these reviews. We shouldn’t be accepting the assumption that if you’re using smart home devices then by default you have to give up any and all privacy.
filming such video is actually giving up more privacy vs setting up a smart home, same applies to posting on social media and using cloud services.. I don't speak well on topics that I don't believe myself so might as well don't cover them 😅

hmm how do you derive to $350? Anyway Hikvision and Google Nest are not comparable, Ezviz is the consumer subsidiary of Hikvision so that's why I included Ezviz here. Hikvision is in the bracket with brands like ubiquiti, dahua and maybe reolink
