I did fresh transfer and got a positive blood test but the quantitative was rising down later 😢 and it got ruled out as a chemical pregnancy. I still got another 3 embryos and going the first frozen transfer next month and my test day is my birthday. Im praying everything goes good this time. Thank you for this doctor.

Hello Doctor, I have a unique question and I haven't found the answer. A grade 4AA embryo from a prior retrieval, to be transferred during a second egg retrieval cycle. So, its euploid, genetically normal, removing that hurdle. If the lining looks good (Trilaminar and over 10mm), would it have a similar chance of success as a FET cycle?

Thanks for reaching out with your unique question. Unfortunately, as a physician, I can't comment on anyone's individual situation or provide medical advice online. At our clinic, FET cycles are more successful than fresh cycles. You are welcome to schedule an appointment through our website at arizonafertility.com/contact-us/make-an-appointment/ to continue the conversation in more detail. I wish you the best!

Great question. The reality is that almost everyone has more than one or two embryos left over so we are always freezing some. The question is not, “are we freezing or not”, it is are we putting one back fresh and then freezing the rest or are we freezing them all. Good data now shows that putting an embryo in fresh decreases it’s potential to become a baby so that is why we don’t do it. The good news is that ARMS has many different financial programs to help your dreams of building your family. You can learn more by visiting my website: arizonafertility.com/ivf-costs-pricing

Thank you Dr Moffitt, would your analysis change for older women ? I'm aged 44

Frozen embryo transfer during IVF has similar advantages across multiple age brackets, with the caveat that chances of success generally decline for women in their 40s compared to those in their 30s or 20s, regardless of fresh or frozen embryo transfer. There are no studies that I know of that analyze the freeze all strategy in older women but I suspect that the freeze all would be better because embryos from older women can grow slower so that the window of implantation has closed by the time they are ready to implant in a fresh cycle. However, fertility treatment recommendations take many factors into account, with age only being one factor. While I don't give medical advice online and can't comment on your individual situation, I do have openings for new patients and invite you to fill out an appointment request form for a virtual appointment on my website. arizonafertility.com/make-an-appointment. While I can't comment on your individual situation or provide medical advice online, if properly stored frozen embryos can be stored indefinitely. To date, the longest time a frozen embryo has been stored and used in a pregnancy is 27 years. If you have further questions, we have an embryo freezing page on our website at arizonafertility.com/fertility-preservation/embryo-freezing/ or you're welcome to contact us directly. I wish you the best in your fertility journey!
