Most likely due to the different coatings required to optimise for both. With the MOA there are noticeable differences in the coating and glass between the two. Cost would also come into it, having two lights and more circuitry, then additional space for it as well.
It's about the tint in the lens. As this video highlights, the tint helps illuminate the dot. Creating a tint that works for two colours is difficult and only something that's been done recently with Holosun and tons of replica optics by Chinese manufacturers
I've read somewhere that green dots use less battery and to combat that disadvantage on the red dots, they tint the glass blue so there is more contrast and thus they can run the red on less power because the tint elevates the perceived brightness of the dot...don't know if that's true but it would explain the different pricepoint (clear lens, more battery life)
Thanks for watching! I've only used them for .22 out to 130 yards, with a .223 you should be good to 200-300 comfortably depending on the size of the target.
Preference, in the end it seems to be preference. So far most would rather buy a red dot over a green dot and hence it is the most popular colour. Games are however popularising different colours such as blue, orange and green.
I like both, the green eotech is bright and faster imo. Its also a bright green so you won't lose it in foliage. The mro is a little more yellow than green. I prefer a full reticle over just a dot. It just comes down to personal preference.
