The group generously makes cars for everyone's taste. Those who prefer the premium, rugged, structured, handsome, muscular, comfortable, authoritative designs will probably pick the Kodiaq. Those who prefer to praise the uninspiring dull cheap looking flat weak ugly duckling will go for the Tiguan 😂.
@@avgusak You are wrong, the interior materials and the finish are a bit better in Škoda these days, too. Some of the cheaper VW feeling is hidden behind their more sustainable, animal free, and otherwise politically correct efforts which are stronger than in Škoda but it is hard to verify how much sustainable VW actually is and whether the compromises are necessary.
This should be Tiguan vs Karoq, not the Kodiac. The Kodiac is a 7 seater, you can only compare this against a Tiguan Allspace. The Tiguan is the equivalent of the Skoda Karoq, and the Seat Ateca and they each use the same floor plan.
The versatility of the 7 seater kodiaq seems unbeatable to me. Even though I have "only" two children, the idea of being able to carry two more people appeals me
Brilliantly edited video Tish very professionally done. As for the choice of vechicle having just took delivery of the out going model of the R-Line edition my heart says stick with VW.But the Skoda kodiaq interrior is very impressive indeed. I'm not sure if i would go for either of the the colours of the cars featured in your video though.
The new tiguan is a huge improvement on the older model and is a really nice car . The new skoda kodiaq is way better than the older model as well if i was offered any one from both manufacturers i would go for the skoda kodiaq 2.0tdi dsg 193 4x4 as this is the one i really like the most
No contest for me, Kodiaq all the way, it's so much classier. I just wish they'd lose the grey D-pillar and light bar at the back, frankly I think the outgoing model actually looks better.
If I do opt for a non-EV car, it would need to be a PHEV. I don't need 7 seats and the Tiguan boot is ample. So, minimum external dimensions are best. After viewing your presentation of the Tiguan, I'm thinking the top power PHEV would probably be my choice, even though I recommend the Skoda everywhere! How would the Superb Estate in PHEV stand up in a 5 seat test? Brilliant comparison presentation, thank you Tish! ❤
Well, the Skoda Kodiaq IV, the PHEV option, is coming end of year if you are willing to wait. It will be 5 seats only and it's personally what I'm waiting for.
The Tiguan is better looking on the outside, the interior of the Kodiak is much more premium in appearance anyway. Did I hear correctly that all the Tiggies are front drive only? If so I’d give it a miss on that alone..
I’d take the one with chunky padding surrounding it! As all true SUVs should be!!! Matt black will not show minor scuffs (inevitable!) as the glossy one would!!!
Nothing more then today's version of the mini vans of the 1980s and 90s and doesn't any car makers do compact cars any more that don't cost a arm and a leg .
Eh are these cars not both in different classes? However if I was to choose it would be the Skoda of course. There is a reason thatcVW have Skoda building the new Passet because Skoda do it better. I would choose the Skoda it will be better built looks better inside and out and it will be more reliable and possible cheaper too with better equipment as well.
They used to say Škoda was the thinking man’s Volkswagen because it was better value for the money same build quality and engines but now they are priced within a few hundred pounds of vw
As mentioned Skoda is no longer the bargain brand for cars and let's face it they haven't been for quite a while. What they do offer though is decent spec and space with more function over form. It might be worth looking at the equipment though. From experience some features standard on the VW are options on the Skoda and vice versa. Personally for my money I'd consider the Skoda if it would fit in my driveway.
Thanks for the nice review. Tbh, the old Tiguan is in all departments better than this new version. I do think, all those changes inside and out are more about following the trend in the market, specially in Asian cars. The old Tiguan is timeless and clean inside and out.
I've sat and in driven both cars. Kodiaq is much cheap on the interior inside and Tiguan is way more refined car on the road. To me Tiguan looks much more modern wheres Kodiaq retains the old boring cabin style and exterior.
@@AutoSocialUK In my case I was after the petrol eTSI 1.5 engines so I tested the same on both. It is really nice engine with the coasting of 2 only cylinders and shutting down itself everywhere it can.
For me, the Kodiaq looks a lot more upmarket than the Tiguan. The VW looks too much like a Kia to me. The Kodiaq seems to have the more upmarket interior too. Sportline will no doubt get the sporty interior with seats similar to the VW.
Tiguan looks hideous so I’d go for the Kodiaq. Same car just different shell. Tiguan looks to plasticky outside now and I don’t like the light across the front or just anything about the looks really. I like the seats as they’re the ones from the Octavia vrs that’s all I do like about the car. Skoda were a working mans alternative to a ford or Vauxhall but they’ve gotten to expensive for what they are. Will I buy either, nope
@@AutoSocialUK 100% sure been looking into buying one. Match & above do get an electric boot but not the R-Line it’s an optional extra. Thought it was pretty poor that.
If i had to choose i’ll go for the Tiguan R in Nightshade Blue Metallic. Just love VW more than Skoda. And thanks for this great review Tish, see you next sunday..
Thats the problem the price ,the customers skoda had before they have lost, including me ,im not buying a car that cost more than my mortgage, way over price pure greed.
These modern colours aren’t going to age well. Like thatSwift other day. back 2008/9 Ford made a grim emolsion white called SPA. Only see 1 or 2 a year driving. People hated it
The Skoda interior is way more premium than the new VW Tiguan, which looks very CHAVY in comparison ….a definite down grade being in the new VW from the previous model…..🤦♂️
Bloody impressive use of limited resources. You must be exhausted. Go and have another spritzer. As for the cars I would take Skoda practically over VW chintz every time
I actually under-played how hungover I was too! I was rather ill between takes…. 🤢 but I was determined to do it as I had already filmed half of the Tiguan
I must be getting old as I think both the outgoing models look better in the exterior than these new models. I'm not entirely sold on the interiors either.
Both got it pros and cons. Skoda looks unlovable from the rear, Tiguan from the front. Sadly the skoda interior just looks premium, but is not. The Tiguan interior looks way better during night where the LED just are better made. Same can be said about speakers, HD matrix vs skoda older. They made it intentionally that Skoda is getting worse technology while the cost is almost similar.
Tiguan looks chinese from 10 years ago. ...why didn't they keep whoever designed Arteon? Kodiaq is not without flaws either, those headlights with rounded corners (while everything else being sharp and angular) are hurting my eyes, but still is decades ahead VW.
No +2 Tiguan in this generation??? They have had it before. Looked at one in doom blue in a car park other day. Looked too large. Don’t mind a Tig but in doom long wheel base just looked like a which reader family mobile
Always had VW but I like the new outside shape of the Skoda without bright plastic wheel arches and front and rear of the VW. The inside of the Skoda I’d also less bright and modern plastic look. I think VW have over shown their modern views with the Tiguan.
tiguan is smaller, has a smaller trunk, less room for rear passengers and has 5 seats, kodiaq is bigger and has 7 seats price in Ireland the same the choice is simple
New Kodiak is Auto only ??? Did I miss this in your Kodiaq video Tish??? Nobby on Cars channel just reviewed Skoda out in Spain, guess must have skipped through the Skoda video. Manufacturers getting lady, Exotics went Auto only decade back, but mainstream companies ditching manual???
The schizophrenia conversation between the Tishes from two times is amusing. I still suspect that both of them said things from a script written before the epochs of both Tishes.
@@lumajs I have notes in my phone of things I would like to say/cover but I’m filming 3 videos a week currently and it’s starting to flow out of my mouth. A bit like the Aperol Spritz from the night before inbetween takes of the Kodiaq 😂😂😂😂😂
Hi Tish. Great comparison. Thanks. Indeed a question of taste (classy of somewhat more modern) and need fore space. My choice is the Tiguan. But what about the driving experience? The kodiaq is about 117 kilo more than the Tiguan. (Both 1.5 Tsi 110 kw petrol version). Can you share your findings?
Tbf, for the driving I do, they both felt perfectly adequate and you didn’t feel the added weight of the Kodiaq. However, the 2.0 diesel felt much more suited on the Skoda. I enjoyed that the most.
