Thank you Finca for watching our videos and supporting our channel. That is very interesting. There are some theobroma jaguar here in the Philippines but not so commonly planted and used in processing chocolate.
Happy New Year 2021 wishing come to you from Harry Soemyint from Thailand. Thank you so much for your videos related to Cacao educations. Actually I am not a farmer just a teacher at school. Happy new year! Thank you Harry for watching and sharing our videos. I hope you still understand our videos because we mix a little tagalog (philippine language) in there haha. We really appreciate your support. We have some friends in Thailand who do cacao and chocolate. Check out Siamaya Chocolate, Kan Vela Chocolate, Xoconat. 🍫

I am from Ecuador here we have 2 main varieties of Cacao : Nacional and CCN-51 clon but Nacional is so expensive so I made chocolate from CCN-51 and the chocolate made from this is good not as good as Nacional but still good, greetings from Ecuador.
Hello from Philippines 🇵🇭 good chocolates 🍫 is always welcome 😊 I think you can choose to CCN-51 and find that fermentation recipe that works for you. Hopefully that enhances and brings out its own unique flavor. Then your skill in chocolate making can also enhance your bar to its own level. 😊 Good luck on your Chocolate journey my friend
Thank you for subscribing to our channel 😊 we hope that you continue to learn interesting things about cacao and chocolates on our channel. 🍫🇵🇭 Thank your daughter for us too🥰🍫
The missing part maybe is the meaning of the cacao varieties. Three words and varieties discovered and born in Venezuela. We, Venezuelan, use the same categorisation for people that born in the country "criollos", people who is a foreigner but is living and feels Venezuelan are "forasteros" and the trinitarios...a former and lost island of Venezuela.
Trinitario refers to the island it originated: Trinidad and Tobago, Trinidad is NOT a lost island of Venezuela but a real place in the Caribbean known for its "chocolate soil" in the Central Range of the island.
Hello... binili ko lang ang seedling ko but sabi ng supplier ko w10 po ang variety ng cacao na binili... last 2017 pa ako nag tanim so for this year nag haharvest na po kmi... sa mga sinabi nio po na variety wala po ang w10 po.. thankyou... also i want more on how to process sun drying po thankyou po.. it helps alot your video. .. more ideas pls
Hi Nemehiah, there are a lot of varieties that we did not mention dahil marami lang po talaga. That doesn’t mean they are bad or not good enough. Again we always ask people what they’re objectives are and the environment that they are in kasi may mga outside factors that impact your choices sa pag pili ng variety for your farm. Hope that that answers some of your questions 😊 good luck on your cacao journey
Great video! If I want to learn indept, do you have some classes that I can attend in person? Also, how is the export potential? Or just the local demand alone is enough for a profitable cacao farming business?
Depending on your locality you can approach farming cooperatives, depending on your quality and volume you can also approach traders or even direct small manufacturers. Again this is based on your capacity and quality and location 😊
it seems what i have in my backyard is the criollo bec we got this from cris fadriga.. i have to learn how to treat bec it is indeed susceptible to disease..
I've grown up to see cocoa farming die a slow death in Kerala. Now all you see are dead, wilting old pods eaten by pests such as squirrels and rats. I want to revive it but family members and farmers are uninterested and almost puzzled at why I would do such a thing. There are cocoa trees everywhere I walk in this part of the state, but I'm not sure if they are only pest infested or are diseased. So is it possible to give me some advice on how to revive it
Hi Rohit thanks for watching our videos and supporting the channel. We are sorry to hear the current state of cacao farming in your area. There needs to be a lot factors in place in reviving the industry. It will be very difficult doing it alone. We are not in a position to really give any advice especially we are not residing in your country and do not know 1. The history of cacao industry 2. The market and 3. Agriculture priorities. Good luck sir on your cacao journey 🍫❤️
Hi. Thanks for the video. Is the W10 clone really a variety of Trinitario? I can't find it under the list approved by the National Seed Council. I actually found another youtube video showing W10, but not much info. What do you think?
Hi Rose, thank you for watching our video and commenting on our channel. We truly appreciate it. I am fairly certain that the W10 clone still falls under the trinitario variety. When we were starting in 2016, the propagation and planting of W10 was just fairly starting. As per the National Seed Council, I am not familiar with their process or how quickly they would have it on record. I hope I was able to answer your question Rose. Good luck on your cacao journey.😍
@@cacaocultureph thank you so much for the reply! Definitely am on a journey. So I may send you an email soon. Would be very interested to know the varied tastes of bars from different varieties. If you can have a video on that too? Greetings from cold Stockholm ;)
@@cacaocultureph Yes it is different. It's also the rarest variety that had been existing longer than criollo for more than 5,000+ years. It has a far more complex flavor, bigger bean, and more nutrients compared to criollo. It's currently grown in Ecuador, and I was hoping that it also exist here. I found out about it in a website vlog of "toakchocolate" titled "Comparing the Two Best Cacao Varieties in the World". If it isn't available, I hope it will be in our country someday.
Theres a facebook group that specializes in criollo in the Philippines. However I am personally not connected with them and I would not know how to spot if cacao beans that have been fermented/ dried / roasted are criollo beans.
Thanks Lovely for watching and supporting the channel. I am not sure what you mean by this question but ill try my best to answer. If the question if there's a market for cacao... yes meron. However you also have to ask a question to yourself, why would the "market" buy from you? I think yan ang question that most people miss out. What is that compelling reason they buy from you. I hope that we've helped in some way. Good luck on your cacao journey.
Hi Nidhi, thanks for watching our videos and supporting the channel. I am not quite sure where you can get the seeds in India but I am sure there are parts in India that cacao can actually grow. India also has artisinal chocolate makers already using local cacao beans and it might be best to check out their suppliers or if they grow them themselves. Sorry we couldn't be of more help at the moment as we are unfamiliar with the cacao industry in India. Good luck on your cacao journey!
Can you tell me this? If I plant a whole orchard of Trinitario variety and I graft some branches of Criollo and Forastero, will the fruit of those branches be hybrid? How does pollination occur in cacao?
Pollination happens through insect pollination activity. These insect are called midges. Yes eventually the beans will reflect hybrid development in time. If you have a criollo orchard make sure to keep other varieties away to keep it intact.
Thanks for commenting on our video. That’s a very good question. Actually it depends on the maturity of the farm, the skill and know how of the person also. Sa mga training sessions that I have attended they say 1 person kaya 3 hectares but again Depends siguro sa skill and also farm management. Our farm we are around 2 people to 3 hectare (1:1.5 ratio). I have seen a very optimal farm na 3 people - 6 hectares (1:2 ratio). Then pag harvest mag add lang ng tao based on seasonality. Again please be mindful sa skill ng tao, the resources that they are given to perform the task contribute towards how well and efficiently they take care of your farm
@@cacaocultureph wow.. Very informative and detailed.. dami ko nalaman salamat po. hope marami pa video e upload nyu.. I am planning to start a cacao farm.. Sana po sa pest and disease management namam po next.. Hehe ty po and God bless
Hi thank you for watching our videos. Typically criollo has a unique way of being identified. if you slice the raw cocoa seeds in half and if the seeds are color white then most likely you have a criollo variety. If the color is not white then that is not criollo. Hope that this answer helps. Good luck on your cacao journey
I made dark choclate at home ..it was fun. . Its so healthy cocoa is having p;roperty like cofee.. it makes you ehalthy anti diabteic, and also anti cancer and also helps in having good heart heatlh ..Good for skin ,etc and also energy and brain.. I took warm coconut oil, on that cocoa nib powdered and almond it tasted good . enoyed it
Hi Stamaths, thanks for watching our video and supporting our channel. You can check r search for cacao/cocoa belt. This will lead you to pictures or images of countries in our world map that are areas where the climate conditions can support cacao growth. I hope that our answer helped you in some way. Good luck on your cacao journey
Each area has its own unique climate, that is especially true now with global warming. Glad to hear about how you are doing it in India 😊 Each variety once properly fermented and dried gets to present its own flavor profiles. While some want to debate which variety are best, we believe the best one is the one that works well in your situation. Thanks for the comment and supporting the channel 🍫🎉
Hi Etienne, Thanks for watching and commenting on our videos here on our channel. Where are you located? Philippines? Typically people buy the raw beans in large volumes. And they would do the roasting themselves. In the past few years, there's also large volume quantities of cacao nibs being produced and bought in large volumes. Cacao Nibs would be your roasted beans that has been already separated from the shells through the winnowing process. Depending on what you need and where you are situated, we can offer or suggest sources of beans or cacao nibs depending on your requirement.
Hi Jhofrens thank you for watching our videos and supporting the channel 😊 Davao cacao beans will probably be mostly trinitario variety. However per farm will still have different types of trinitario
Can you export Theobroma Cocoa(Criollo) seeds? I needed some seeds to produce seedlings. If you are able to give seeds then I want to import from Bangladesh.
Hi Rea, thanks for watching our videos and supporting our channel. We do not cultivate Criollo on our farm. Good luck on your search and your cacao journey
Hi Micho, thanks for watching our videos and supporting the channel. We've stopped selling seedlings to focus on the farm and selling of products. We will come up with a video on how to start planting cacao seedlings
Hi Sir Glenn, thank you for watching our videos and supporting this channel. Unfortunately we've stopped our nursery operations since 2019 to focus on the farm and production of products. We are not familiar with criolio seedling suppliers near your area.
Sir,, ano po yung palatandaan na ang cacao bean ay trinitario? Kasi diba nagsabi mo na ang criollo ay white to pinkish and forastero ay violet,, ano naman po sa trinitario?
Actually trinitario is the mix of the two varieties so we’ve seen light violet pag bean cut mixed with slightly white beans sa isang pod. Most of the time white beans (criollo) what people look out for but for us each variety is unique and has its own story to tell
Hi Ralph. Thanks for checking our video out and also commenting. The varieties you mentioned would still fall under Trinitario varieties. In general terms Philippines would have the criollo variety and mostly everything else available are Trinitario. Hope that our answer was helpful. 😀
@@ralphjava9744 Our online store is www.cacaoculture.ph If ever you are in Davao we own the store Cacao City. For fermented beans we do not usually sell locally but you can email us at team@cacaoculturefarms.com tell us what your requirements are and we'll try and find a way to help.
Hi Kaye, I've heard some local farmers call certain type of Cacao Brazilian that is different from BR 25. I am not exactly sure what the difference is though. Why do you ask? Btw, thanks sa pagsupport mo sa channel namin! God Bless
Hi Karl we have stopped our nursery operations in 2019 to focus on our farm and production of products. There are a lot of other nursery operators in Davao naman
Hi Sir Jimmy, thank you for commenting po here on our channel. That's a very good question. Regarding Trinitario specifically I am not sure about how it will fare in a rolling hills topography. For cacao farming in general, rolling hills pwede naman mag grow ang cacao trees but I am not recommending the set up because it will be hard for your farm team to maintain and harvest later on. Imagine going up and down hill to fertilize, prune the trees and carrying cacao pods. So for the same amount of cacao beans sobrang taas na ng labor cost. Then you would need to consider soil erosion and soil nutrient loss when it washes away during rainy days. If you really want to develop a cacao farm sa hillside, you can apply terrace farming. Most popularly known terrace farming in the Philippines would be our Banaue Rice Terraces or the Ifugao Rice terraces. Sa sloping or hill part of the farm you have to cut into a series of successively receding flat surfaces or platforms, which resemble steps, for the purposes of more effective farming. I have not seen an actual cacao application for terrace farming but this type of farming method would be okay for cacao, otherwise you will have to deal with the concerns I raised earlier. I hope we were able to answer your question and help you on your cacao journey. We super appreciate the question.
You're welcome. We will continue to produce and share videos on a regular basis. hoping makatulong to more people. This Friday we will upload video on how we started our farm and things we learned and what we could have done better. Salamat sa pag support sa amin sa RU-vid.
Thank you Ain for watching our video and supporting our channel. We hope you are able to learn from our videos and appreciate the cacoa trees you have.😍 Have you guys tried making tablea from those trees?
@@cacaocultureph susubukan pa lang po, unang beses pa lng sya nagbunga, sobrang excited 😃😄😄😆 May video po ba kayo kung paano magpatubo from seeds at magtanim ng cacao tree ?
We personally do not sell criollo seedlings or seeds. You can check out some groups that advocate this kind of planting materials. top of mind is Plantacion de Sikwate but they might be expensive. I am not sure about the authenticity of other sellers na criollo po talaga ang binebenta. I hope that this information helped Dena. Thanks for watching our videos and joining our RU-vid family
