Wow, the best place for explaining Kohler parts, my house was built in 1998 and the Home Depot could not help me. Now I know I need a GP+500520 and a GP-77886. Thanks.
Thanks. I've got a GP77886 valve, and the faceplate is getting bent/stripped by the screws. Can't find one anywhere. I figured I could just replace it with a GP77759 valve with faceplate.. but I can't find a faceplate/handle for those either. So I'll just order the replacement valve and cartridge and then hammer the faceplate back into shape. heh.
Hi there, Thank You for the info. The 1st. faucet you tal about here, dual piston deal. How is the temp adjusted? Ours leaked, I fixed leak by facing internal hexed sealing face...now water is cold, cold...not ever really hot shower. Any info would be great
Thanks - GREAT Video! I have the RiteTemp and need to remove the red temperature stop so I can put on a deep rough in attachment - per KOHLER Instructions. Can not find any instructions on how to remove the red plastic temp guard. Do you show this anywhere?
I've just installed both the GP77759 mixing valve and the GP800820 balancing cartridge. I have slowed by leak to a small drip. I don't know if I've tightened screws enough or too much and that's causing slow leak. How can you advise me? Is the GP500520 really a better cartridge to use?
Great video man I’m not getting enough hot water I believe I need the generic 800 820 valve cartridge how do I get that and with that solve the hot water problem
Had the gp800820 installed, and only issue is low water pressure (50% of normal).. might it be installed the wrong way around cold - hot side reversed (writing up or down?) since there are notches both top and bottom? home improvement stores only carry the 800820. This is connecting to a gp77886.
great video went to your web site cant figure out if you have any stock on the 520 spools? cant find phone number, cant send email ? I dont want to wait a long time if you got decent price and fast deliver good
Great video, thank you! The pressure balance cartridge (GP500520) seems to be stuck in the housing. Is there a release/latch that I am missing? Does it need to turn? Any insight would be appreciated.
Unless you show what the handle and trim looks like to accompany each cartridge this video is completely useless! So says the 40 year Master Plumber! Just showing a picture of each cartridge does absolutely nothing for anybody...
Just replaced mine gp77759 with the gp8008200 but now it seems like their isn’t enough hot as I used to have. I have full variable temp through the whole range but it’s like I have to turn the handle up hotter than before through the entire range. Where I used to not go above say 9oclock for my hot now I’m running up to about Full hot. Not sure if maybe it’s that rear piece possibly misaligned or maybe I should go with the aftermarket cartridge.
I've been experiencing the same situation, for over 6 months. Now, recently my shower operation, developed a water leak behind the shower wall. Took the trim cover and handle off, next step may be my automotive borescope, to look inside, and investigate what is actually leaking.
@@PlumbingPartsPro I need to get the generic. It’s still doing it and I also had another issue start right after I replaced it with the updated one. Whenever I turn on my sink and toilet is filling up or run my hose outside my pipes start vibrating and water starts coming out of the spout in the tub when it’s completely off. I can open it wait till the toilet stops or if it’s the hose shut it off but open the shower spout and wait till those stop and close it back and it’s fine. It’s crazy but it never did that before. I don’t know for sure it’s related it could be some water pressure issue or something but it’s just odd it started right after I replaced that.
Trying to figure out the one I have. Condo built around 2005 , all black, not red like that middle one. No hot water at all. Went out all of a sudden. . Do I have to turn off the main to switch this out? I’m trying to research this. Thank you.
So the seat and spring is what I think you are referring to should be behind a plastic plate or bar to hold on place depending on which model you have. If your unsure email us info@plumbingpartspro.com
I have a Kohler shower faucet that I'm not sure of the model number, when I turn it on there is no"happy medium" it's either cold or very hot, any suggestions? Any way I could possibly send you a picture of the valve with trim on it? Thanks in advance
Some builders are goofy asf! I can’t even reach my shut off valves to turn off the water to begin repairs. I’d need to remove tile and drywall to find the valves 😡
Plumbing Parts Pro that’s very interesting. My California home was built in 1997 and it has a delta 600 series that I got burned when someone flushed the toilet. I quickly replaced it with a delta monitor recently and haven’t been burned every since haha. Not sure how the 600 series slipped through the cracks and got signed off by building inspectors
Well, this fellow states that should you have any plumbing parts inquiries, email him. Been waiting over a week and no response. So I send an email to his web page "contact us" - still no response. I wonder if they are still in business. Too bad, as I thought I had found a place that could help you with parts issues.
I just went through the emails and searched for the name you posted under and didn't get any results. We would love to help. Let me know what name the email is under or resend an email
I've got an odd situation where cold water is getting into the hot line and vise versa in my upstairs master bath. Plumber says its a bad cartridge in the shower. Mine is the GP77759. Can I just purchase the GP800820 and make the repair, or do I need to replace the whole GP77759 Unit? Thanks for your advise.
The rear section should fix it. The GP800820 is the replacement cartridge but I recommended the generic GP 500520 The genuine kohler has gotten bad feedback
I own one house built in the 60's with original plumbing and no issues. I also own a house built in 2005 and have had to replace lots of plumbing parts. Shower cartridges over and over ect. Everything is cheap Chinese made garbage now.
Hi I just moved in to town house and I found my bathtub shower faucet has no diverter handle . I want to ask you how to change it with new one with diverter My old one is kohler Help please
I changed the inner cartridge because I thought that was the problem with a leaky shower faucet but I put everything back together and it’s doing the same? Do I need to change the outer cartridge that connects to the handle?
My bathroom has just a walk-in shower and no tub. I had to change the mixer as hot water was not flowing from the head. I replaced with a new Kohler GP 77759 valve cap and a GP800820 Pressure balancing valve cartridge. I tested the flow without the shower head and was all fine. But now, the flow of water does not stop when the shower head (massager) is connected even when the knob is turned off. If I remove the shower head (unscrew and remove massager) and then the water stops when I turn the knob the off, but with a jerk and sound. Is the due to some pressure gradient? How to fix this? Thank You. SSM
Is there a trick to remove the bushing plate for the 71969? I replaced the cap hoping to fix my no hot water issue but it appears my cartridge is the problem. I’m worried about damaging the bushing to get to it.
@@PlumbingPartsPro yes. I didn’t see any obvious screws holding that plate to the actual housing. How would you recommend it be removed to access the cartridge?
